Netherlands set to tour Bangladesh for three T20Is

The series will feature three clashes, starting August 30.

Bangladesh are set to host the Netherlands for the first time in a bilateral series, with the two sides scheduled to play a three-match T20I series. The series will begin on August 30, with all three matches set to be played in Sylhet.

The Netherlands will arrive in Bangladesh on August 26 and will have three training days before the series kicks off.

The first T20I is scheduled for August 30, followed by the second and third matches on September 1 and 3, respectively - all to be played at the SICS in Sylhet.

The series will serve as crucial preparation for Bangladesh ahead of the Asia Cup, which begins on September 9. The Netherlands, meanwhile, have played in Bangladesh once before - during the 2014 T20 World Cup.

Both sides have played five T20Is against each other, with Bangladesh winning four of them. Back in 2012, the Netherlands hosted Bangladesh for a two-match T20I series - their only bilateral encounter prior to the upcoming tour.

Bangladesh beat the Netherlands to enhance their chances of a place in the second round of the T20 World Cup 2024.

The last time both sides faced each other was in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, where Bangladesh secured a 25-run victory.

Schedule :

1st T20I - August 30, Sylhet

2nd T20I - September 1, Sylhet

3rd T20I - September 3, Sylhet

Wow! Unexpected opponent.

I believe Netherlands have never toured Bangladesh for a series. This is their first time.

Anyway, BD should try to win 3-0. Anything less than 3-0 against Netherlands at home would be a failure. :inti

If they roll out same pitches as v Pakistan then Netherlands won't have a chance. They won't have experienced anything like it.

They are likely to get similar pitches. LOL!

Anyway, Sylhet pitches are slightly better than Mirpur pitches but still have enough spice to help BD bowlers.

Bangladesh should have tag teamed in that Pak/Afg series. Anyway, Sylhet is a replica of NZ conditions and that is also the region where most of our fast bowlers comes from.

Uncapped Dutch teen receives call-up for Bangladesh series

The Netherlands have introduced changes to their squad for the three-match T20I series in Bangladesh.

Uncapped 17-year-old batter Cedric de Lange is among three replacements named by the Netherlands to their T20I squad for the upcoming series against Bangladesh.

With injuries forcing the visiting side's hand days before the first T20I in Sylhet, de Lange has been rewarded for his consistent displays at Under 19 level as well as in domestic T20s.

"It's always exciting to bring a youngster into the squad," Netherlands captain Scott Edwards said of the youngster.

"Cedric has been impressive all summer and he's really earned this call-up. We're looking forward to seeing what he can offer us on this tour and, hopefully, across a long career ahead of him."

Among other changes made to Netherlands' 15-member squad, pacer Sebastiaan Braat and all-rounder Sikander Zulfiqar have been slotted in.

The changes come after Ryan Klein and Fred Klaassen were ruled out of the series due to injuries. Meanwhile Saqib Zulfiqar withdrew citing personal reasons.

The Netherlands will face off against Bangladesh in three T20Is starting August 30, serving as key preparation for next year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Netherlands squad: Scott Edwards (c), Noah Croes, Max O'Dowd, Vikramjit Singh, Teja Nidamanuru, Sikander Zulfiqar, Cedric de Lange, Kyle Klein, Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren, Shariz Ahmad, Ben Fletcher, Daniel Doram, Sebastiaan Braat, Tim Pringle

Netherlands aim to build T20WC 2026 momentum in Bangladesh

Netherlands will feature in a three-game T20I series against Bangladesh starting on 30 August, 2025.

Having qualified for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in July, the Netherlands will be gearing up for the marquee tournament next year in familiar, subcontinental conditions with a series in Bangladesh.

“It's a great warm-up for us heading into the World Cup,” Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards told reporters ahead of the first T20I.

The Dutch had featured in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India a couple of years back, and had impressed with their run that had seen them stage a stunning win over South Africa and overcome Bangladesh.

With their upcoming three-match series against Bangladesh, Netherlands are looking to build momentum prior to the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

“After qualifying for the World Cup, getting match experience in Asia was one of our first goals. Playing three T20s against a strong side like Bangladesh in their home conditions is perfect for our preparation.”

Bangladesh captain Litton Das meanwhile has his eyes trained on the immediate challenge before the Tigers in the form of the Asia Cup.

Litton stated that his side are working on ways to improve their batting ahead of the continental tournament, which has Bangladesh slotted with Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka for the group stage.

“If we lose, we lose [against Netherlands]. What matters is how well we play,” Litton said.

“Abu Dhabi will be batting-friendly, like Sylhet. But to score 200-250, we also need to build a habit.

“Conditions there are quite similar to Sylhet. We've trained under dew here, so the players know what to expect.”

All three T20Is between the two sides will be played in Sylhet between August 30 and September 3.
