Trent Boult wins Sir Richard Hadlee Medal at ANZ NZC Awards

BLACKCAPS fast bowler Trent Boult was recognised at the 2018 ANZ New Zealand Cricket Awards function when he was awarded the top honour, the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal.

Boult, who also won the ANZ Test International Player of the Year, was named in the ICC Men’s ODI Team of 2017 and took 77 wickets across all formats in the judged period.

Boult also became the sixth New Zealand player to take 200 Test wickets, and was the sixth fastest from any country to bring up 100 ODI wickets.

Sophie Devine's historic season saw her recognised as the recipient of both the Women's ODI and Twenty20 Player of the Year awards. Devine averaged 55 with the bat in ODIs and 31 in T20, while also taking 15 wickets across the two formats.

Ross Taylor was another winner of the night, claiming the award for ANZ ODI Player of the Year with an average of 78, while also receiving the Redpath Cup for First-Class batting. Neil Wagner won the Winsor Cup for First-Class bowling for the second year in a row.

Opener Colin Munro won the Men’s T20 International Player of the Year, having averaged 57 at a strike rate of 182. He also became the first international player to score three centuries in the format.

Northern Districts Pat Malcon received the Bert Sutcliffe Medal for Outstanding Services to Cricket, having dedicated more than 20 years to the game. In his time with with Northern Districts Malcon has covered a range of roles, including grassroots development and player development. Malcon has also been involved in the development of Cook Island cricket and has been a key figure in the development of the Northern Maori programmes.
