Warning to PCT...beating NZ in NZ is not a piece of cake...they have outplayed almost all teams that have toured.

India-got whitewashed the last time they toured
BD-same as India
Pakistan-whitewashed twice
Australia-lost twice.
The only team to beat them is SA on both the occasions...

Even a 3-2 win would be amazing even for this brilliant and improved Pakistan ODI unit.

This tour will truly show us where the team stands.

Whether we belong among the top 4-5 ranked teams in the world or not. There is a reason why we are 6th with 99 points vs NZL's 113, that is a pretty significant gap. In saying that we have improved in a quite a few areas, the only thing that makes me finicky is our batting. Need more batsmen that score at a quicker rate.

India was not whitewashed.

Game 3 of their 2014 tour was a tie when both teams made 314 runs

Bat second. Easy win. These grounds are teeny tiny grounds. Edges will go for six. Only thing that can bother them is 150k full length yorker type deliveries.

I feel like a case can be made for Imad over Shadab on these grounds.

Shady is more likely to be big out of the park. Also, he is not as good a hitter as Imad.

We were owned there before the 2015 WC, but in all honesty I feel sort of robbed in the 2016 series, first us not finishing the job with NZ 5 wickets down before crossing 100 as Azhar took his foot off the gas and we'd have to chase 280, and then Billy Bowden pulling off a grand heist and screwing us in the final(?) game with some poor decisions esp that edge off Corey Anderson which could be heard from Indonesia according to sources but not to Billy.

Our middle/lower order lost us the final game...

Hafeez and babar setup us for a big 300+ total but Rizwan, Sarfraz, Imad and Malik all bottled it as we only scored 280 odd. We also got unlucky with rain and NZ had to chase a lower total but what can do you do...

Babar and hafeez cost us a big total as well by not going on and making big hundreds, both players got bogged down for a few balls and then threw their wickets away. to get 280 when we should have got 350+ atleast was criminal to say the least.

Hence why beating a struggling SL in the UAE means naff all if you can't move forward, and win away from "home".

Pak never lost test series in uae and 7th ranked team whitewashed them...hahahaha...
Records are made to be broken..

:))) and you magically expect our batsmen to have a field day in those conditions?

With the kind of bowling we have, our batsmen will have to score somewhere around 260 either batting first or second to win matches. Babar is in good form, Fakhar is giving good starts and we bat deep so we should expect our team to score atleast 250-260 every time they go out there to bat.

This series will be a barometer for us and how much progress we've made in white ball cricket. For a time NZ were showing the way in how to play ODI cricket in the modern era whereas we looked like a 1980s tribute act.

Now we have a team far better equipped than our previous two tours to beat them in their backyard, full of form and confidence. However my worry is the batting still lacks firepower and we'll struggle if we're asked to chase 280 plus.

Our seamers should enjoy bowling in these conditions and I'd play four of them in Amir, Ali, Shinwari and Ashraf.

This will be a very good series and I can't wait. I think we can challenge them as our bowling is very strong now.

NZ is not as good or bad as everyone makes it out to be. Their batting apart from Taylor and Latham is weak as KW in ODI's is too slow and cannot accelerate while Guptill is a hack who fires 1/5 times. Their bowling is dangerous for the first 10 overs as the new ball swings. They do not have a captain like B-Mac anymore :bm so no danger of having four slips with the ball swinging both ways. It will depend on how our openers face the new ball. I expect Fakhar to have more bounce troubles against Boult and Milne. Imam however, is more assured in defense despite his urges to poke outside-the-off-stump every once in a while. With our good bowling form :hasanali and confident top order :babar, I expect us to win 4-1.

Will be a hard fought series Sarfraz as captain gives us edge tactically netter than Kane

I've backed Imad in the past, but I think he should be dropped.

Honestly I'd replace him with Nawaz or Raza in the squad. They're younger and fitter. Better fielders too.

Make your mind up. Which is it?

Btw, given your avatar I am guessing this doesn't stand anymore: :shadab

NZ are a very tough team to beat anywhere - they also won the last ODI series they played in the UAE and came so close to beating India in India.

There is this foolish misconception that NZ are "hard working" but not talented. Not true. They are packed with talent.

Thing is, Shadab got hammered in the last match. And he gets hit way too often; But I'll still go with Shadab because he has the ability to bowl flat and quick just like Imad does. Plus he is the best fielder.

Imad bats well on flat tracks and is a better hitter, but Shadab has more upside and Hasan Ali can be promoted up the order if another power hitter is needed alongside Faheem.

Our bowling is superior to them and our batting is now one of the best in the world with the sort of depth we have. It will be a test for Pakistan no doubt but expect us to win 3-2 considering how good our odi team has become.

NZ is Ranked #1 in T/20 ..... so it will be a real humdinger of a Series against the Indians !!!!

A case can be made for our bowling attack being the best, but our batting :danish? It's easily the worst out of all of the top six teams.

It is really a tough job. But we can beat them if and only if we get rid of passengers. Playing Shehzad and Imad would be blunder and am sure we are going to see this blunder. If we don't give a chance to fast bowling AR, then we won't stand any chance against them.
