Day 3 about to start in a few minutes with India in a bit of trouble, although Rohit Sharma has steadied the ship.

New Zealand 503 all out.

India 130/4

If we can get away with a draw in this game it will be a big blow for the Kiwi's they will be mentally demoralized and than we will pounce on them on the second test and snatch the series at the last moment leaving the Kiwi's high and dry and keeping their reputation as a second tier test team intact #bleedblue #comeback #kiwiwillgodown

"The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play."

Get them out in first session and ten call them back to bat again.

I guess crowd is so small because they don't want to see minnows like India.

What's the weather like in Aukland? Hopefully Kiwi's don't get saved by the weather we need to demoralize and make them chase the ball for a bit #keepawayrain

Was alway exected Rahane is not test material we need to start practicing/preparing for the second innings #willgethemback

Indians going to be following on. The ball is seaming like a freekick from Roberto Carlos

Sir Jaddu and Dhoni got to counter attack they will not last defending #smashthem

Bloody Aucklanders. Nobody's turned up to witness India's humiliation. On a Sat morning too. Probably all hungover after drowning their sorrows in drink the night before after Auckland lost to NSW in the rugby!

Wonder if Macca will enforce the follow on or will he give his bowlers a rest and put on a quick 150 or so?

Bowlers should still be fresh. If they can blow them away in the next 10-15 overs, they should enforce it.

if they get them out early post lunch session than they dont need rest. they should attack and utilize the conditions. more clouds expected later today while tomorrow and 5th day we will see more sun shine.

One wicket away from folding.... Well they've already folded, but you know what I mean.

Sun is baking the pitch well setting it up for the Indian seconds innings #weathergodiswithus

I cannot believe Jadeja's first-class stats. Like this. vv

Shariq Memon: "Ravindra Jadeja with 3 Triple centuries to his name in first class and average of 15 in test matches shows the quality of bowling in India at FC level."

The Enzed should pitch it up for Dhoni so he can feed the slips cordon.

These fans turning jadeja's name into a football chant is just cringeworthy.

Go home.

Why does Dhoni always nick off in tests? I see it all the time. I wonder what his average is in tests outside of asia.

And after an initial reprieve Dhoni is :out

feeding the slips cordon as expected.

He must have a technical flaw outside the off-stump. Nick Nick Nick Nick Nick Nick.

IMO, This is the problem with MSD.

He is an attacking batsman. He is most assured when he is belting the ball around the park.

The moment MSD starts playing tuk tuk, he gets out. Defense is not and never his forte.

In Test matches, MSD thinks that he has to play Defense to make himself appear to the world like a proper batsman.

Sorry MSD. Your defense sucks. Please bat like you do in ODI's. That is where your success is.

Just look at Zak. Going for his shots and he will be much more succeeful than some of the top order batsmen.

Batsmen need to stick to their natural game. I cannot believe that a shrewd captain like MSD did not realize this about himself.

India are mentally shot. They are batting like true tailenders trying to slog every ball. Terrified of getting tied down and getting out.

In fact they are not trying to slog at all. Trying to be over cautious and finally something in good length area comes, they try to drive at it.

Disagree. This is a Test match. Gavaskar would have a heart attack with what you said. Take a leaf out of McCullum and Williamson's (and Anderson's) book. Got stuck in and put a price on their wicket, fought through the ball movement till they got themselves in, then they started scoring freely. Put the bad balls away but respect the good balls and respect the bowler. Throwing the bat around like it's a T20 the minute you get in is a recipe for disaster and the main reason why you are about to get bowled out for around 200 - mainly playing shots you didn't have to play.

That said, I think it's your top batsmen that are culpable - we all know Dhoni is not a Test class batsman outside India so relying on him and Zak to cowlash a few is like shutting the stable door after the horse has been stolen.

As Ian Smith said, you want to keep the Enzed bowlers out there as long as possible, so that Macca decides not to enforce the follow on. That's where your chance at drawing the game is. Put a price on your wicket instead of turning it into a T20.

^^

McCullum started counter attacking when they were 30/3. He did not play tuk tuk. He started belting the ball, Indian trundlers became clueless as usual and the rest is history.

If he plays defense, he won't lost 2 balls.

That's the type of mentality that's going to get your team rolled overseas over and over again. Zak is not a bunny, he knows how to execute a forward defence. You have Sir Jaddu who knows how to occupy the crease and bat time, he has a triple ton in Ranji. Someone needs to stick around with him and keep the Enzed out on the field as long as possible.
