After losing the series in the 4th T20I against New Zealand, Pakistan will now look to finish on a positive note in the final match. Despite falling short, the team will aim to bounce back and regain confidence. A strong performance in the last game could help Pakistan end on a high while identifying areas for improvement.

Meanwhile, New Zealand will look to maintain their dominance and wrap up the series with another win. Though Pakistan has lost the series, they have discovered promising talents in Hasan Nawaz and Abdul Samad.

Random stat. Middle overs performance by different teams since Jan 1, 2024. If you are yellow , closer to red then that needs improvement. If you are not in green that needs improvements. Pakistan is middling in this area. It is not enough if you are good in one area. LOok at Windies. Six hitting is massive. But dot ball percentage is poor hence the Strike rate is pathetic. You need strike rotation and also boundary hitting abilities. Pakistan has to focus on improving in this area.

Jalaluddin ex-fast bowler and Level 4 certified coach on NZ Series,

* Victory in 3rd game was anomaly and proves lack of consistency

* Team and players individually lack in terms of international standard

* Batting & Bowling both lacks quality and variation

* Azhar Mehmood , Asst Coach what he is he upto?

* MoYo also way behind modern cricket phenomenon

* Some of our batsmen incapable of playing shots like cuts, back foot punch

* Slogging from ball 1 is never successful.

Do I care?

The Pedri Gavi Yamal who are being hyped up
Where have I hyped anyone up? Stop drawing a false image of me. If saying T20 players are better than those who are not T20 players is hype, well deal with it!

Seems like he is angling for a job. Btw Jalaludin, who played his cricket in 80s thinks that M Yousuf doesn't understand modern cricket. :afridi

Jalaluddin from his media presence over the years seems straight forward, therefore mostly neglected by PCB

He is right. Nothing wrong in what he said,... Cut and pull are some of the main shots that you need the most in SENA and look at our batters, they struggled to touch those deliveries so far.

It was a proper tulla show... Hassan scored 1 heavy score and he was hyped to the moon when we all know that he is proper tullaybaaz and it could be his case in all upcoming games (1 good knock and then rest of all is missing the ball by miles)

MOYO is also not the right guy for T20 batting consultancy, good enough for Tests or ODIs atmost

Azhar Mahmood speaking to media ahead of the final T20I game against new Zealand:

About losing the 4th T20 game and morale for the final game of the series:

“The morale dipped initially, but this is a young team, and you could see their energy and fighting spirit, even in defeat. Our responsibility is to keep them motivated because this is international cricket. Losing a series doesn’t mean we stop fighting. We represent Pakistan, and we’ll give our best to finish the series 3-2.”

About bowling performance:

“In modern T20 cricket, par scores have risen from 180 to 200, even as high as 220. Recently, we chased 200 in just 16 overs. The game has evolved, and the idea of 160 being a par score is outdated. Modern cricket demands adaptability; players now have shots like ramps and paddles. If bowlers miss their yorkers, it’s a boundary. The dynamics of the game have changed, and we must adjust accordingly.”

“Regarding Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf: If you analyze their performances in these matches, Shaheen was unlucky in the last game. He had chances in the first over, but luck wasn’t on his side. Haris has bowled well and consistently taken wickets. The game has evolved, and par scores aren’t 150-160 anymore.”

Lessons learned from these conditions:

“We need to adapt. The conditions here are different from the Asia Cup. Adjusting lengths and strategies is crucial. As a bowling unit, we haven’t clicked collectively. While one bowler performs well, others leak runs. Bowling, like batting partnerships, requires all bowlers to perform in unison to take wickets and win matches”

About his experience of coaching young players of Pakistan:

“It’s been a great experience. Player like Abrar Ahmed who is our best spinner has only played 8 T20Is. International experience comes with time. The challenges here were the bounce and pace. In Pakistan, the ball doesn’t bounce like this. We discussed as a team how to use the pace instead of fighting it. In the third T20I, we used the pace effectively, but in the last match, we tried to counter it aggressively again, which backfired. The players are learning from these experiences. For bowling, we’re analyzing which lengths work best here—whether back of length or fuller. Batters thrive on cut and pull shots here, so we need to minimize runs.”

About Playing XI for the final game:

“We’ve had discussions, and there’s a possibility of one or two changes. The final XI will be announced at the toss.”

Wellington: The national squad held an optional training session at the Basin Reserve Ground.

Players practiced batting and bowling, participated in warm-up drills before the session, and also worked on fielding under the supervision of the coaches.

The final T20 match between Pakistan and New Zealand will be played tomorrow at Sky Stadium in Wellington.

Should give players who haven't played so far a run round no one is expecting a victory but if somehow they manage it 3.2 defeat sounds better than 4.1

although this is not enough but something is better than nothing...

Usman In for Haris
Sufiyan in for Abrar
OBY in for Irfan
Ali in for Shaheen

I am liking the new way of cricket being played by Pakistan. It reminds me of their cornered tiger days. One day they’re in danger and another day they’re the danger.

Pakistan bowlers are experienced( Shaheen , Shadab etc) and they are the best option available in pakistan cricket yet they failed miserably .
Pakistan batsman are mostly Tullebaaz or inexperienced so it was expected result from them but bowling is real worry .

Shadab is VC but he didn't even deserved a place in the team

Mohammad Arslan Abbas, the son of former Pakistani cricketer Azhar Abbas, is set to make his debut for New Zealand in the Kiwis' upcoming match.against Pakistan

Arslan, a first-class cricketer, has been selected for the New Zealand squad based on his domestic performance.

Azhar Abbas, who played 45 first-class matches, moved to New Zealand with his family, where he continued his cricketing career, playing for Auckland and Wellington. He is now the assistant coach for the Firebirds.

Arslan Abbas, who can bat in the middle order and bowl, has been chosen for his versatility.

New Zealand’s squad will miss senior players like Mitchell Santner, Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, and Glenn Phillips due to their commitments to the IPL in India.

With these senior players absent, new players will have the opportunity to shine during the one-day series against Pakistan.

Earlier, New Zealand's fast bowlers crushed Pakistan in swinging conditions and set up a massive 115-run win to help the home side clinch the series 3-1 with a match to spare at the Bay Oval on Sunday.

The Men in Green were bowled out for just 105 chasing a mammoth 221-run target under lights. The last dead-rubber to be played on Wednesday at the Sky Stadium in Wellington.

Jacob Duffy made early inroads, picking up three wickets inside the powerplay to dent Pakistan and they never recovered from the top-order collapse. Pakistan's chase never took off with New Zealand troubling them with swing and seam on offer.

Unlike the game in Auckland, Pakistan couldn't take advantage of the dew factor. The chase began with Will O'Rourke, playing his first match of the series, removing Mohammed Haris with an excellent delivery, Duffy then dismissed Hasan Nawaz and captain Salman Agha in the second over to dent the visitors.

Zakary Foulkes also struck instantly, as he cleaned up Shadab Khan in his first ball with an inswinger. Eventually, Pakistan lost eight wickets for 56 runs.

The game was all but over at the halfway stage of the chase even though the No.7 Abdul Samad fought a lone battle with his 30-ball 44.

Duffy came back for his final over and added one more wicket to his tally to end with 4 for 20 while Foulkes scalped three overall.

Pakistan historically has never been good in T20 batting since T20's inception. Their core strength has always been bowling. But with batting against all types of bowling expanding pakistan bowling is found wanting being unable to adjust. Back then Umar Gul could land 6 yorkers and batsmen would block it with not much option. Nowadays with reverse scoop, switch hit whole bunch of shots available these kind of deliveries can be dealt with when needed. Matthew wade showed in 2021 world T20. Pakistan bowling has to be upto modern standard as well. Right now they rely a lot on Haris Rauf. Even he is good mostly in SENA conditions. Almost all teams have mystery spinners or gun wrist spinner. Pakistan has none. That is also a factor.

This is the third time a New Zealand-Pakistan series clashes with the IPL in three years, and once more, New Zealand's strength in depth has lived up to the test.
Pakistan have an abysmal recent record in T20I cricket since the start of 2024. Excluding games against Ireland, USA, Canada and Zimbabwe, they have won four of 22 T20Is in this period
