What hitting by Afridi and Akmal at the end!! :O An excellent hundred by Hafeez held the innings together earlier.

Will it be defended?

With the combination of spin bowling and pacers Pakistan have got, they should able able to defend this.

Fielding will be the key.

Pitch certainly looks flat. I expect a fight from NZ even though they will be down after the phainty...
 
Pak will miss Shoaib but I think the spin of Afridi, Hafeez should be decent on this wicket.
 
Credit goes to Hafeez for laying the foudation earlier on...Misbah if he had stayed for any longer we might've just managed 250 but he got out just at the right time to get Pak the last 10 overs we needed!

Afridi and Akmal smashed it around superbly especially Afridi, Umar playing a silly shot once again to get bowled out easily could've got a 50 to his name but still 44 off 29 was good to get him back in the runs!

Overall, 294 is a good score to defend for Pakistan!

Atleast we got no Akhtar in this game, otherwise he would've helped them out giving 40-50 odd in his 4-5 overs! lol
 
Start slow. Build a base. Then explode. The Pakistan way. Hafeez built the innings, Misbah steadied it, and Afridi, along with Umar, turned on the heat in the end. Pakistan end up on a strong 293. Join me, Sriram veera, in a while for the chase.

Dont think they'll miss him in this game tbh.
Guptill has walked all over him every game so far and it has proven costly.

amir sohail is a jerk he didnt even mentioned afridi played well he praised misbah hafiz and umer
 
Just imagine if Afridi had more time at the crease he is still very much capable of scoring 37 ball 100.

If Misbah got out earlier or contributed in some quick runs, we could have easily cross 330.

This is the damage Misbah is in ODI's
 
will be a big test for our pacers, they will need to show some guts and determination as NZ will come hard.

having Ryder not play is a big plus.

Shoaib hasn't had a score to bowl ONCE on this tour. In the T20, Pak batting folded and in the ODI, Pak batting folded.

Especially Southee now throw the ball at our players.

All of you haters turning against Misbah, he is perfect for building a solid base, what if Hafeez got out early, you would have the hitters already coming in, Misbah paces himself perfectly, today at times he was slow but he did try hitting shots, he couldnt connect...whats his fault?

he is there in the middle to build a base, to allow afridi and razzaq to blow up, just like they did today. it was perfect, this is how Pakistan wins matches, even crapinfo knows that.

Just stop blaming players in games, if Afridi fails in one game, everyone is against him, when Misbah slows down, everyone lashes at him, just stop this nonsense, they are different players and both of them did their job today. Just because Afridi's is way more entertaining, doesn't mean Misbah didn't do his job. Pakistan batted as a team today, be proud of that.

If Afridi can go berserk on this pitch then he's gonna murder the teams on sub-cont pitches :D

this pitch was rightly judged by Afridi to be sub continent like
whereas expert Aamer thought it has pace and swing
 
the last 10 overs of our innings were sheer entertainment and a treat to watch...paisa vasool batting!

maza aagaya itni zabardast batting dhek kay last 10 overs mein!

Inshallah if we can bowl well today, we'll win and level the series!

middle overs might be the difference...irrespective of 13 an over hitting in the final 10...the target is still below 6 and over
 
akthar holds the key...if he bowls waywardly on this mini field...kiwis will have a field day...
 
I said this in a previous thread and am gonna say it again, IF Misbah performed for the team and not for his selfish self and took some responsibility to pace the innings, we could have easily crossed 330+ short boundaries or not, thats not Pakistans fault, its New Zealand building short pitched boundaries.

The last 10 overs went for 126 overs, even though we did not cross 300 we were never on target for even 250.

This is what ODI cricket is all about, we need someone reliable in the middle overs to build the middle over innings, pace it enough for Afridi, Razzaq, Umar Akmal to go berserk and have a licence to kill.

With Misbah in this team its just gonna damage the ODI team more bcoz of the pressure.

This pitch was easily a massive 300+ pitch.

Saying all that, really enjoyed the last few overs they were sheer brutality, murder at its best and proves that Afridi still is capable of scoring quickly, hey given more time at the crease he showed he can still match his 37 ball 100!

pak should look to get early wickets with Razzaq and Sohail opening i think.

Aamer talks alot of junk!

He jus wants to see Misbah as captain and for Pakistan to get knocked out from the World Cup.

He did not see where in the runs position was Pakistan when Misbah played out 10 overs before he got out and what position Afridi, Akmal played in and he prob didnt c 202 at 43 overs and 293 in 50 overs...
 
need to put pressure on from bowl 1 - important Razzaq pitches the ball up!!

edit - oh dear, short ball and pulled away for a 4444!

Right am gonna get about an hour n half sleep before I need to go to work, some great cricket played courtesy of Afridi, Hafeez and Akmal, this game shud b in the bag Insha-Allah we will win by a good margin, enjoy everyone.
