News has been circulating on the internet since Friday stating that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is experiencing serious health problems.

Some media outlets said that Assad had suffered a stroke; while others said that he was shot and has been taken to Damascus Hospital for treatment.

France’s Le Point, speculated that Assad might have been assassinated by his personal Iranian Bodyguard Mehdi al-Yaacoubi, going so far as to say that he shot him in the head.

Lebanese newspaper, al-Mustaqbal, quoted “reliable sources” as saying that Assad suffered from a cerebral infraction and was transferred to Damascus Hospital where he is being treated under high security.

As for the Saudi newspaper Okaz, Assad is suffering from a “brain tumor.” He tried to cover up his illness through short and frequent appearances. According to its sources, Assad is being treated by a Russian-Syrian medical team on a weekly basis, adding that he has undergone medical tests when he was in Moscow in October.

Pro-Syrian regime Lebanese newspaper al-Diyar reported on Friday that Assad suffered from a stroke, but denied the news today.

There were also rumors that Assad is at the American University Hospital (AUH) in Beirut. However, Al Arabiya contacted the hospital and no information on the issue was given. Al Arabiya has also tried to contact Damascus Hospital, but there has been no response.

On the other hand, in a statement carried by the Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic page on Facebook, Syrian authorities said that such rumors were incorrect.

Earlier today someone told me that Asad got brain tumor.

So heart attack, killed by iranian body guard and brain tumor in less than 24 hrs.

He has gave several interviews recently.

Even the article in the OP says several conflicting things and mentions that Assad being treated in several places.

One of these days he(along with Putin, Obama, Cameron, King Salman etc) will hear the screams of the millions killed and displaced for personal gain and ego. Allah is just!

Hope that news is true..

Why??

He;s no angel but as we've seen in Iraq,Libya and elsewhere when you ovethrow a dictator (Syria didn't seem to be doing too badly for itself before the US got involved) you're left with a smouldering wreck of a country.

In a choice between the US "liberating" Syria or Assad staying in power I reckon the latter is a better long term outcome for the Syrian people, especially when the former are the ones funding and arming the terrorist groups terrorising the citizens.

Recently, The Queen wasnt making any personal apperance, and rumors started circulating that she died.

Will believe it once its confirmed

Won't be surprised if he is dead, remember similar thing happened in India w.r.t Tamil Nadu CM's death,we kept hearing rumors for a month before it was officially announced she died.

He is bombing his own countrymen indiscriminately just to hold onto power.

Since the beginning of the conflict in Syria Qatar's former Emir died, a Saudi King died, PM Cameron was forced to resign after losing his EU referendum, Obama's term ended, his warmongering mate Hillary lost the election and that orange thing is now POTUS. And Francois Hollande will depart soon.

All of his Al-Q and ISIS supporting foes are dropping like flies while Assad is still in power.

The question remains however is what solution do you propose?...all the options on the table are negative...

Can you tell me of a side in this battle who is fighting this war discriminately?...all sides in this conflict are targeting civilians...the reason Assads army is killing more is simply because they have a greater ability to do so...

They have Hezbollah who we have seen are extremely capable as a fighting force wherever they have been...they have Iranians and Russian control which is significantly better than any support the other side is getting...if the other sides had more capability they would be killing civilians also...

Also this notion that Assad is killing to hold onto power isnt really true because it presumes that he has a say in how this plays out...hes essentially a pawn in the proxy war...the Iranians control the army more or less...Assad doesnt have sovereignty...the Russians and Iranians do...and will do so even if Assad dies...

There isnt a good end result in sight...
