RCB all-rounder Dan Christian has revealed that Jamieson, who is playing his first IPL after being bought for ₹15 crore, is carrying a couple of Dukes balls but when his RCB skipper Kohli asked Jamieson to bowl with the Dukes to him in the nets, the New Zealander did not fall for that trick.

"Pretty cagey from Virat actually, right in the first week we were here. The three of us were sitting down after the nets and these two were talking about Test cricket.

"Virat said: 'So Jamie (Kyle Jamieson) have you bowled much with the Dukes ball?' and they are talking about that stuff.

"Jamie says: 'Yeah, I have a couple of them here, I will have a bowl leading in before I go over there' and Virat says 'Oh, if you want to have a bowl against me in the nets, I am more than happy to face'.

"Jamie was like, 'No chance I am going to ball at you!' He would have looked at his release point and everything that he does with the Dukes ball! (chuckles)," Christian said on The Grade Cricketer's YouTube channel.

Jamieson had troubled the Indian batsmen, including Kohli, when they toured New Zealand early last year and it was the main reason why the lanky pacer attracted a huge bid at the IPL auction.

When it comes to off the field activities in the RCB camp, Christian said Kohli is not as involved as other stars like AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell.

"You don't see Virat a lot off the field, you see a little bit. He will, maybe, come to half of the things but he has his family here too from the start so we might see more of him now.

"So AB (de Villiers) is the happiest, most humble... never got a bad word to say about anybody, will be there from start to finish. Maxi (Glenn Maxwell) is there from start to finish as well," said Christian.

RCB, who are aiming to win their maiden IPL title, have started well this season.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have done little wrong in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 on the field but the franchise met with a bit of a controversy off it. All-rounder Dan Christian was given a 'gentle reminder' for the podcast he had with an overseas publisher. While the video has now been deleted, many fans have been wondering as to whether it was the content of ‘The Grade Cricketer’ podcast that earned Christian an unofficial warning.

It has been learned that Christian had spoken about RCB skipper Virat Kohli and all-rounder Kyle Jamieson in the podcast. During the podcast, Christian spoke about the conversation Kohli and Jamieson had about the latter bowling to the Indian batsman with the Dukes ball but the Kiwi cricketer had refused.

“Pretty cagey from Virat actually, right in the first week we were here. The three of us were sitting down after the nets and these two were talking about Test cricket. “Virat said: ‘So Jamie (Kyle Jamieson) have you bowled much with the Dukes ball?’ and they are talking about that stuff.

“Jamie says: ‘Yeah, I have a couple of them here, I will have a bowl leading in before I go over there’ and Virat says ‘Oh, if you want to have a bowl against me in the nets, I am more than happy to face’. “Jamie was like, ‘No chance I am going to ball at you!’ He would have looked at his release point and everything that he does with the Dukes ball! (chuckles),” Christian revealed on the podcast.

In the podcast, Christian was also full of praise for AB de Villiers and revealed how humble the former South Africa skipper is.

“So AB (de Villiers) is the happiest, most humble… never got a bad word to say about anybody, will be there from start to finish. Maxi (Glenn Maxwell) is there from start to finish as well,” said Christian.

While there were reports that suggested that Christian was issued a warning for 'breach of contract', RCB later clarified that the veteran Aussie cricketer was only given a gentle reminder by the franchise over the interview.

Cheeky.

But Jamieson is on his way to become another Anderson tbf. Specialist conditions and particular ball bowler

To me is seems a pretty simple and innocuous statement by Dan.
But if it is a breach of contract then he is at fault.

Anderson was brilliant in the recent india tour and in sri lanka
Although it took him umpteen years of mediocrity and endless chances to get good in the subcontinent.

I think Jamieson is an all conditions bowler. In the 2nd test vs pak, he took wickets when the pitch was flat and when boult+southee looked toothless.

His height gives him a massive advantage

This guy Kohli thinking about redball practice for WTC finals and playing test innings in IPL.

These few deliveries of bowling will not make any difference because currently they are in India, not England.

Kohli has faced Jamieson in New Zealand and if anything it will be that series that will make more difference than the net bowl practice in India.

This is good surely? IPL is just money but WTC is national pride. You'll remember who won the 2021 Championship. Nobody will care who wins IPL.

Don't think there was anything more to this than Kohli trying his luck in jest with Jamieson. It's unlikely that Kohli wouldn't have practiced against Jamieson with the white kookaburra in the nets and already should have a fair idea of any cues to pick up in his action.

RCB a bit touchy about this. They asked for the interview to be removed and warned Christian and Jamieson.

Obviously not happy about any criticism of Kohli.

Kohli was so unreasonable to ask Jamieson to give him test match practice. Jamieson was contracted for IPL, not to improve India's captain red ball shortcomings

That is so pathetic they asked for the video to be removed, talk about dictatorship, dont do anything to show india/IPL in a bad light.
