"Not afraid of others doing well as such competition only improves you as a player" : Mohammad Nawaz

Who said that number 5 is his actual position were does he bat for Quetta?

He's kind of a floater at times but his main position is No.7 due to his ability with ball.

But like I said with Northern, Nawaz comes in at No.5 in all formats. Which basically means Northern T20 and Quetta Gladiators both see him for values.

Oh yeah he is valuable for domestic but in t20s in international he should be batting at 7/8 at best.

Comeback for Nawaz as selected for Pakistan XI for the first Test vs SL

I still don't get Mohammad Nawaz - it's been nearly 7 years since his international debut and he's neither here nor there as a cricketer.

I wasn't impressed during his first run in the team. He debuted for Pakistan in 2016 having benefited from very spin friendly UAE wickets in PSL1.

He returned under Misbah last year in white-ball cricket and in fairness, bowled well against South Africa and since then formed a decent spin pairing with Shadab. He got taken apart by Phil Salt in one of the T20s vs ENG, and had that final over meltdown vs IND at the World Cup, but otherwise been tidy.

Still I don't see him tearing through lineups. He doesn't get much turn from his stock delivery.

Meanwhile his batting contributions were nonexistent for an all-rounder. His Asia Cup knock vs IND was his first meaningful innings as a batsman after a promotion to the middle-order. Overall he stays in white-ball cricket.

In Tests however you can't really afford such players. They must be as good as a specialist either as a batsman or bowler. Nawaz had a good series vs SL albeit in spinner's paradise Galle. On a turning wicket in Multan vs ENG, he's been outbowled by a rookie. Even Zahid's taken more wickets than him ! He played a reckless shot in 1st inns.

Mubasir is knocking on the door, so Nawaz must produce consistent performances or steps aside.

I had hope after his innings Vs India in the Asia cup. That could have been the making of him if he kicked on.

Let’s face it - he’ll never be a world class bowler. But adequate bowling with good batting could be an asset.

As Markhor said he’s still neither here nor there. Apart from the 2 opening World Cup matches he doesn’t get exposed as the weakest link because there’s always someone who does worse than him

Mediocre player, like you say his batting bar one or two inns has been poor to say the least, he doesnt give any confidence at the crease, the fact hes being used at number 7 and his batting is that of a tail ender in tests is shambles. His bowling is decent at best, the fact are normal spinners are so rubbish make him look half decent.

Time to move on from such garbage players, seems Mo Wasim keeps picking him to keep players like Imad out of white ball cricket and shadab out of test cricket.
