The Netherlands pulled off a coup in the dying stages of the ongoing T20 World Cup as they prevailed over a strong South African side in their final group stage game. Netherlands hadn't beaten the Proteas in a World Cup match and decided to spoil their party when it mattered the most as they fell short by 13 runs. The loss knocked South Africa out of the tournament in an embarrassing result as crunch games continue to get better of them.

The Dutch didn't help South Africa at all but they surely gave Pakistan a lifeline with a win out of nowhere. Pakistan now had the golden chance to seal their spot in the semi-finals as a win over Bangladesh would be enough to see them through and that's what transpired.

However, it wasn't just Pakistan fans rooting for their team, the Dutch too were supporting the Men in Green.

And the Dutch batter Tom Cooper made it pretty obvious as well. Cooper, who played his part in the win with 19-ball 35 was seen telling Pakistan skipper Babar Azam that they need to win so that the Netherlands could finish 4th. "Now make sure you win, so we finish fourth," said Cooper as the Netherlands team walked off the field while Babar and Co. entered the Adelaide Oval for their game.

While the position might not matter much as far as the race for the semi-finals is concerned, but now that Pakistan have won, Netherlands will finish at 4, which means they automatically qualify for the next T20 World Cup in 2024 in the West Indies and the USA.

As for the match, Pakistan were right on the money from ball one as they didn't let Bangladesh batters cut loose at any point. An umpiring howler did help them but none of the batters apart from opener Najmul Hossain Shanto showed much resistance and they could score only 127. Pakistan stuttered during their batting but contributions from Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Haris and unbeaten Shan Masood saw them through.

HaHa ... nice to see it. Anyways, India vs Pakistan in the finals, who wouldn't want it to happen!!

Nice moment.

Pak fans will forever be grateful to the Dutch who channeled the spirit of Johan Cruyff today :))

Netherlands finishing at four means they won't have to qualify for the next world cup, right?

Congratulations to Netherlands. Amazing performance throughout the tournament.

Nederlands has shattered the hopes of many indian fans who were celebrating Pakistan's exit too early. Yes they had a minute chance of 20% before this match happened but still people should learn to stay grounded and don't get carried away. All those memes enjoying Pakistan's exit before semi finals look absolutely silly now and the credit goes to Nederlands for that. They gave Pakistan a second life in this tournament. :inti

If Pakistan go on to win the trophy then we must invite Ned for a 5 match series.

Babar Rizwan and Shaheen should feature in all 5 games.

Thanking Netherstan for choking South Africa. I had a feeling they would do it unlike India who would have deliberately lost to South Africa if it meant eliminating Pak.

Pointless message. BD still qualifies automatically. Next world cup will have more teams and in groups!
