From what I read he is mediocre and by making political statements on field, he ruined his career even further. Most NFL teams see him as a distraction.

Kaepernick is quite gifted actually. He was among the best quarterbacks just a few years ago with all the hype around him.

The more I read about this bloke, the more impressed I am. So calm, so erudite, so articulate.

I saw an interview where he realised that women were being shamed and thrown out of the Nation of Islam for getting pregnant. He learned that a very senior member of the church was making them pregnant.

Perhaps he did am unaware, I do know that the Nation revolved around Black supremacy though so wanted to focus on that aspect of his life and the thoughts people have with regards to it.

Back when I would never step foot in a library and was too busy listening to rap music in the form of tupac cassettes for my Walkman , and also writing essays in Bad French about recent world events the kids all laughed at me for being in the library. To them I was the epitome of an Asian lad who would ricochet out of lessons , play the fool in class and never get an a in anything

It was there i took home the book of Malcolm X and learnt about his life as a pimp, his transformation in jail and his education in jail to being arguably the best orator of the 21st century

One of my personal heroes. Sad that a lot of the black youth today don’t know much about him. It’s funny how MLK and Malcolm X switched their views toward African-American unity at very end of their lives. Ossie Davis’ eulogy of him at his funeral was written minutes before on a kitchen cloth. The one delivered in Spike Lee’s movie at the end brings a tear to my eye every time. This man gave up his family, friends, power, money and his four daughters along with his wife were scarred for life after his assassination. His daughter was arrested and his grandson burnt their house down, which killed Betty Shabbaz later on. But we will never forget you Malcolm and the strives you made because you loved us all.

Thanks, have ordered it just now should be a very insightful read. My head teacher always use to quote him outside the likes of Ali and Martin Luther King, I've only read about his connection to Ali given how I follow the boxing and the controversial nature of NOI but at the same time he inspired many people.

Ali didn’t believe that he could beat Liston in the first fight. Malcolm gave him the confidence and they were almost brothers from that point on. They separated which is Ali’s biggest regret but as a young man, he had no choice. Because those who crossed Eijah Muhammad, ended up like Brother Minister Malcolm X.

The second fight he would have lost even if he competed but he said a few years later to a off-duty journalist that he took the slightest first punch because of the threat of the N.O.I. During the first fight, the N.O.I members were aggressively pursuing Angelo Dundee who they were calling "the white devil" because they believed he was putting something in Ali's eyes rather than trying to fix the problem. So you can imagine what they would have done to Liston if they had found out his corner put something in Ali's eyes. It occurred in Round 6 and the same problem happened to a few of Liston's other opponents.
Years later, when Ali was about to fight Foreman, the same cornerman came up to him and gave him a bottle of liquid. He told him to rub it on his gloves and it would heat Foreman to the point where he would not be able to concentrate anymore. Ali took the bottle, never used it, and told about the incident in an interview in the same year (1974). Boxing is notorious for these incidents such as the Panama Lewis "Black Bottle" with Pryor v. Arguello 1.

Liston's death to my knowledge was more related to the mob, not the N.O.I.
When Malcolm split from the N.O.I, he split from Elijah as a result.
Ali had just converted and changed his name, pledging allegiance to the N.O.I and Elijah.
Malcolm gave Ali an option to join him but Ali declined and gave allegiance to Elijah instead, cutting all ties with the "traitor" Malcolm.
Ali even after Malcolm's death continued to state that Elijah was correct. It wasn't until the latter's death and when Elijah's son turned to a more orthodox Islamic view, that Ali left the N.O.I.
Years later, Ali stated that his biggest regret in life was turning his back on Malcolm when he needed him the most and if he could do it all over again, he would.
Malcolm became a pariah, alone and threatened, yet he maintained that this young 22-year-old could become a symbol of unity amongst the black community. Boy was he ever right and more.
