Javed Miandad, one of the greatest batsman Pakistan has ever produced made his Test debut 37 years ago against New Zealand at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Aged only 19 Years and 119 days, he was the youngest cricketer to score a century on debut in a Test match at the time.

Javed scored 163 runs, which included 14 boundaries and was part of a 281 runs stand with Asif Iqbal for the fifth wicket.

He is not one of the greatest batsmen Pakistan has produced , he is the greatest batsman Pakistan has produced and I also add he is the greatest cricketing mind Pakistan has produced.

I remember watching this game on TV in Pakistan and thinking, who is this new guy? In those days, SL & NZ were the equivalents of BD and Zim :D

Just thought Miandad was a one hit wonder. How wrong was I...

You're giving your late 40's age away here!:ashwin Sadly we don't produce street fighting batsmen like Javed anymore:(( He defended his wicket like a soldier does his country.

Remember hearing of a county match I think, in which he put on a 40 or 60 run partnership with a tail ender to chase down a target and the tail ender only faced a few balls out the 10-15 overs the partnership lasted. Legend.
 
Brilliant player for Pakistan, one of the best players ever in the world.
 
As i said last year - I recall wondering if he was a one hit wonder at that time - how wrong was I!!
