The top order needs to bat at a SR of close to 140-150 min. They are unfortunately batting at a SR of 100 or below. We have huge batting depth in the team so there is no real excuse to be batting at such a careful and low strike rate. Malik's innings was the perfect T-20 knock and someone like Fahim Ashraf should be coming in with 6-7 overs to spare, not in the final over. And Babar Azam looks totally lost out there, i think his threshold is not more than a SR of 100. Even England had warned Joe Root that he had to improve his big hitting ability if he wanted to continue playing in the T-20 format.

140-150 seems out of their reach if we want them to do it consistently.

But even 120-130 is acceptable these days as an opener.

But run a ball against a poor sri lanka attack on this pitch? Need to improve for sure.

the 2 batsmen in top 3 (Umar Amin and Babar Azam) are not capable of batting at higher strike rate and thats the problem. Replace Umar Amin with Sharjeel and Babar Azam with another big hitter and then the top 3 looks pretty good.

South Africa just belted BD for 224 today. That's the standard. We won't always get away with a slow start like we did today with a RR or 7.4 after 7 overs.
