Good to see T20 star like Rashid Khan although he might not be around for the majority of the series.

Who you looking forward to watching and which overseas player do you think will set the tournament alight?

Once I can confirm all the playing overseas picks as I understand there has been some late replacements, we'll post the list in the thread.

Mujeeb ur Rehman will be the breakout overseas player (assuming he plays the entire tournament).

Also looking forward to Gayle, Miller, Steyn, and of course Rashid.

Dark horse picks like Joe Clarke, very interested to see how it goes.

James Vince and Alex Hales are in the form of their lives. Adam Lyth is very effective and changes the game if he comes off.

Chris Lynn and Brathwaite are due some runs.
Qais Ahmed, Noor Ahmed are also very potent.

One of Nabi, Christian, Ingram, Salt, and Rutherford will also stand out.

Paul Stirling and Ali Khan

If they excel here then franchises will start giving opportunities to more players from Emerging/Associate nations in the big leagues

I'm waiting for Chris Lynn to fire, was heralded as an exceptional T20 batsman a few years ago. I wouldn't disagree, he could hit sixes with ease off the yorker length.

Is ben dunk playing. He was a night mare for all teams not named lahore in the last few matches.

The overseas players I am looking forward to watching are

Miller
Rashid Khan
Alex Hales
Chris Gayle
James Vince

I think describing the following as "stars" is pushing the definition: Ravi Bopara, Lewis Gregory, Samit Patel, Joe Denly, David Wiese, Ben Dunk, Tom Abell, Ben Cutting, Cameron Delport, Chadwick Walton, Daniel Christian, Joe Clarke and Adam Lyth.

Yet some get offended when I call this the Journeymen Super League.

LOL, you gotta hype it up, its a showbiz kinda thing. :djb

Just like someone was discussing in another thread how IK made his average players feel like world beaters until they eventually did.

Agreed, not some very inspiring names there, but opportunity for some of these guys to become stars in the PSL 6 and eyes of the Pakistani public.

I remember Ben Cutting played a pivotal role in Sunrisers Hyderabad winning the IPL in 2016. He played a crucial knock in the finals.

And until I saw your post which included his name - I kind of forgot about him. Has he made any waves in the previous editions of PSL?

It is not real cricket, just entertainment. If Pakistan can find three or four good players in this format then that will be added bonus.Ps Some of the biggest stars have flopped in T20 so ic low ranked players perform and provide entertainment then this is good enough.

From PCB:

For the first time, Twenty20’s magical spinner Rashid Khan of Afghanistan will be seen in action during the tournament alongside his compatriot batch of mystery spinners including Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Qais Ahmad and Noor Ahmed.

• England is represented by a bunch of short format specialists, as such Tom Banton, Adam Lyth, Alex Hales, Joe Clarke, James Vince, Samit Patel, Saqib Mahmood and Lewis Gregory

• Australia’s T20 specialists – Chris Lynn, Dan Christian, Ben Cutting, Ben Dunk and Fawad Ahmed – will be on ground this time around to show their skills

• Caribbean flavour will spice up the tournament with the presence of Chris Gayle, Chadwick Walton, Sherfaine Rutherford and Carlos Brathwaite.

• South Africans during the tournament will be David Miller, Colin Ingram, Dale Steyn, Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir and Cameron Delport.

He is not the same anymore, too old, should have retired. I will be happily surprised if he won some matches in PSL this time.

Defonitely getting older and i hope he wins some matches just for an entertainment factor.

2 matches and he is gone for National duty - says will comeback next year!

I hope PSL franchises do not recall players like Dunk, Wiese, Bopara, Cutting etc.

I think personally, when I watch them on screen, they take something away from PSL rather than adding to it.

They were needed for PSL's profile at some point, did their job incredibly well and were well rewarded for it. Pakistan cricket in some cases owes them a debt of gratitude.

However, now it is time to move on.

They’re decent players, your not going to get archer stokes starc kohli etc at this time of the year due to international commitments etc, also don’t get this obsession with having “big name” players only, as long as the cricket is decent enjoy the league. It’s just entertainment at the end of the day and if these players add to the enjoyment then why not. A lot are international or former international players as well so at one point or another they were stars, maybe not in your eyes but I don’t think that would matter to them.

1 wicket
2 matches

Rashid Khan

I wonder how much per wicket that cost LQ.

Proper T20 star this Hales.

Only reason not playing for England at the moment is due to some off field misdemeanours.

Not that great this time around

Lynn, Vince and Dunk not playing those huge innings they are known for.

Rutherford stays strong till the end for the Zalmis.

Steyn smashed for the biggest six of the tournament 102m by Wahab followed by another 96m six.

If the PSL can secure an exclusive window in the ICC Future Tours Programme, we will see the quality of foreign players increase ten-fold.

No one would turn down such a payday if there are no other immediate conflicts.

I think most of us know Steyn isn't a good white ball bowler anymore and that its mostly a marketing coup by the PSL.

They are better off making him a bowling coach than taking the spot of a Pakistani cricketer.

What happened to the likes of rashid and gayle?

They disappeared very quickly.

The PSL is never getting it's own window. IPL takes 2 months, when will there be space for the cricket to stop for another 4 weeks for a T20 league lol?
