Pakistan (289/2) defeat Sri Lanka (288/8) comfortably by 8 wickets to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in 3-match ODI series

Atleast babar have one common stat with kohli , scoring a 100 after 83 game each i guess , what a coincidence, Hopefully we won't have to wait this long for Next babar 100.

Well done Babar. No doubt ODI's are his best format. But more importantly, Pakistan beat a more or less full strength Sri Lanka team with ease. Small but important steps to get a competent white ball team.
 
Hopefully some pessimistic fans, who thought that Hasaranga would run thru the Pak side without much fuss, got the answer. As I thought, these 2 sides are pretty even. Pak fast bowling turned out to be the difference, which pretty much everyone knew was better. SL had PROBABLY better spin options, but not significantly better - especially on Pak pitches where there was some assistance for them, but unlike in Emirates or SL/BD.

Good series so far for Pak. Hopefully Babar will regain some confidence with his 100. I am also hoping that no idiot in PCB will even think about offering him a leadership role - he is not cut out for it. The next T20 WC is in SL where there might be spin - Babar's nightmare. He still needs to work on it before retiring.

Rizwan @4 did well on the road, but still does not justify to be batting at this position which should be reserved for a specialist bat ONLY.

Fakhar needs to be persisted with. He will be instrumental in SL. Pak needs a confident Fakhar in LOIs. Ideally, he should be opening with Sahibzada. But again, we have PCB geniuses thinking otherwise.

Congrats Pak & thanks SL for staying in Pak. I am hoping for a thriller in the 3rd despite being inconsequential.

Why does sri lanka struggle so much in pakistan pitches i mean their spinners looked pretty average here in sri lanka they run though teams easily here pak handled them nicely.
 
Babar Azam and Salman Ali Agha shared following thoughts in post match presentation ceremony:

Salman Agha: It was a complete batting performance. We had three good partnerships, I think we chased it really well. I think it was a a 320-330 kind of a wcket, but I am happy that we could restrict them to 280-290 odd. It's always good to restrict them to such a total.

Babar Azam, Player of the Match: Belief in myself and my hard work helped me achieve this feat. I was getting off to good starts, I wasn't able to live up to the expectations. I was getting out at wrong times. I was just trying my best. It's an honour to get past all the records of all legends.

Sri Lankan pitches aid spin bowling & dew doesn't affect 2nd innings like it does in India & Pakistan, Bangladesh.
 
The senior trio performing against a lower ranked team. We all know the real standing off these two when facing against India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa top players.
 
Pakistan deserve credit for beating a full-strength Sri Lankan side. The fans who think this doesn't mean anything need a reality check because there is not much of a gap between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in this format. Nobody is saying that Pakistan is suddenly a world-beater side but they deserve credit for playing some good cricket and very clearly being the better team.

Are you in your senses this sri Lanka team has beaten so called big teams you named so badly so beating sri lanka full strength is really good effort by pakistan by the way you named England they are ranked 8 for god sake are going to play qualifiers compare to sri lanka who pak has beaten are ranked 4.

And don't forget this sri lankan team has beaten all big teams at home recently where as so called big team like england which pakpassion some posters try to portrait are ranked 8 might play qualifiers.

When you play lower ranked teams their standard is your standard. Pakistan will never match upto top 5 because they hardly play them.
You play better sides you become a better team ... jab zayada baarish hoti hai ... similar sort of analogy
