One of the emerging teams for the next few years. We can write a fairytale like England did in the last 4 years; out in the groupies then champions in the next cup.

Will be even sweeter when we do it in India.

Having beat two champion sides we have the potential.

Can we tap into it in 2023?

We have to stick with them and we will triumph.
 
Atleast our wins were fair and square unlike blatant cheating by Eng.
 
We won against bigger teams & lost badly against smaller teams... what does that make us?

Despite said garbage we did pretty well in this cup, best I’ve seen since 2011 WC. Batting was stronger than 2011 as well despite passengers.

Need some good spinners and a keeper bat for next cup.
 
It makes them disappointing.

Crystal Palace have a habit of ruining Liverpool's day in football, yet at the end of the season, Liverpool is challenging at the top of the table and Palace is struggling to survive.

Potential is always there, without consistency and genuine desire to be professional athletes, they will just have good days here and there.
 
Look at where Pak is in the ICC Cricket Rankings and that will give you a more realistic picture ( The same applies to all other teams )
 
Lol, just an unpredictable surprising team, this WC showed us what we are. Lost pathetically to a team that didn't win any other game against other non minnow teams and we beat the WC finalists
 
We have the nucleus of a great side if only we do what England did after the last World Cup. They stuck with the players they invested in them and they gave them the confidence to comeback as a stronger team.

We have the talent but have have to give them time to mature, improve their skills and become a closely net team. The team has demonstrated that they are able to do that when they won the CT in 2017.
 
It makes us inconsistent and quite frankly over the course of the tournament not good enough.
 
Don't worry. Pak will be a true contender in the next WC if you change the captain and stick with the current lot
 
Change the captain and you will take a captain who lead you to the CT success and put the burden on someone who is not ready. Sarfaraz has a track record of success in major tournaments be it the u19 WC or the CT. only madness will compel someone to discard this experience.

Also the new and immature captain will fracture the cohesion of an emerging side where the average age is only 24.
 
Pakistan isn't good enough.

They got lucky but no cheating,the rules were pade before the match.
It's like with pak we can complain it should have been head to head instead of nrr but it's the team's work to plan all this.
But yeah boundaries over wickets is stupid,or give a tie after the super over.
 
At the international level the value of experienced cannot be underplay. Talent is something you are born with, skills can be learnt but experience only comes from time, where you develop an true appreciation for the game through both positive and negative outcomes.

The greatest teams of all time WI / Aus have followed this journey with a consistent leader and team, moving from abject failure to greatest by forming a talented team, helping to up their skill levels and to build a comprehensive body of international experience. Only when you get to the third phase you achieve consistency and greatness. If you keep on chopping and changing at stage one you will never progress to phase two and three.
 
I have raised this point in many threads, but Aussies also defeated both these teams in round robin.
 
About time Pakistan stopped celebrating unpredictability tags, cornered tiger situations and 92 comparisons.

Focus on results and yes, winning process is what makes good teams great.

Sooner the better.
 
It makes us the team that finished 5th and failed to qualify for the semi-finals.
 
Unpredictable, inconsistency whatever.... The truth is that we lack the discipline, a bad captain and few players that should've retired long time ago.

The point is that Pakistan manages to get humiliated by a team that loses to everyone except Afghanistan but then turns up against the WC finalists.

There's something really f'd up about Pakistan Cricket.

It proves that Pakistan hasn't fallen to minnow status yet. Remember an ordinary team can win one game against a good team like SL did against England. Two wins (make it three, one against SA also counts in my book) means Pakistan are competitive and losing against Aus, Ind and WI means they are just that. Competitive with middling performances.

To get better they need more pieces of jigsaw puzzle to fit than India or Australia. And way more than England.
 
If we go by that logic

West Indies beat pak and afghans, then lost against every1 else.
Sri Lanka beat endgland but lost agains India
Pak lost against Australia and India
England dismantled Australia and beat India

Lets appreciate a great team winning and becoming deservedly champions and the other a winner too more than a runner up.

England spent 4 years building a team, they improved on their spin play, they found their openers their finishers, they found their winning team and mentality.

What did Pak do rest their main players before the England series and World Cup.
they wasted 4 years and still could not find their perfect openers, their finishers, their spin bowlers, their pace bowlers, their middle order etc...

We went in with no plan no strategy no tactics no think tank no back up plan, nothing!

All our fans out holding on to is we won our last 4 so it was a successful world cup...
 
You should ask ICC to change the rules so next time the final is a tie and super over also a tie then they should give up on the finalists and award the world cup to the team that beat both finalists...

Makes more sense than the daylight robbery of England getting 6 overthrow runs instead of 5, look up that law.

The higher powers don’t want the wheel to break.
 
Pakistan just need 2 batsmen with a power game. At 5 and 6. Even if they average mid 30s thats fine. But they should be proper batsmen who have the power game..not tullaybaaz like Asif.
 
Bangladesh nearly beat NZ too, should we be happy? Na JK we were rubbish and ended at no. 8
