ISLAMABAD: Pakistan conducted a successful test launch of the medium-range Shaheen-III surface-to-surface ballistic missile, according to a statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The missile is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads to a range of 2,750 km.

The ISPR statement added that the test flight was aimed at validating various design and technical parameters of the weapon system.

The impact point of the flight test was in the Arabian Sea, validating all the desired parameters.

The test was witnessed by senior officers from Strategic Plans Division, Strategic Forces, Scientists and Engineers of Strategic Organisations.

Director General Strategic Plans Division, Lieutenant General Mazhar Jamil, congratulated the Scientists and Engineers on achieving a significant milestone in complementing the deterrence capability. He asserted that Pakistan desires peaceful co-existence in the region for which nuclear deterrence would further strengthen strategic stability in South Asia.

Lt Gen Mazhar Jamil appreciated the technical prowess, dedication and commitment of scientists who contributed whole heartedly to make this launch a success.

He expressed his full confidence over the Strategic Command and Control System and the Strategic Forces’ operational preparedness to defend against any aggressive design.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif congratulated the scientists and engineers, associated with the production of strategic arms for the military, on the successful missile test.

The Shaheen-I and Shaheen-II missiles were test-fired in Pakistan last year.

Shaheen-I is also capable of carrying nuclear as well as conventional warheads and has a range of 900km while the Shaheen-II missile can also carry nuclear and conventional warheads up to a range of 1500 km.

So

Shaheen-I = 900km

Shaheen-II = 1500 km

Shaheen-III = 2750 km

IIRC Ghauri-II also had a range of 2000 to 2300 km

The missile is dedicated and named after a species of Falcon found in the mountains of Pakistan.

Didn't know they call the bird Shaheen?

The range coverage of Shaheen III.

"Pakistan names all their missiles after foreign invaders"

I remember we were also working on Ghori-3 with 3000km range is that project still active?

Pakistan wont test any missile beyond to this (2,750 km) range in near future, becoz of some "Reasons".
also its the "Official" range of shaheen 3.
The real range wont be disclosed, and I belive its greater thn the official range.
but It doesnt mean we will stop Only with MRBM.
and if we test something greater thn this range thn it will be only with SLV.

Ghauri 3 project gt cancelled becoz it was a liquid fuel missile system, and we have achieved our goal with Shaheen Series which is Solid fuel missile system.

but I am intrested in MIRVs, and SLV, Hope we will make something from Shaheen Series.

Keyboard warrior is pak army working on any longer range cruise missiles?

well, for Cruise missiles, we are hearing some news for Babur-2 (Naval Version) and 3.

Current Babur-1 has the range of 700km with Mach 0.8 speed.

Babur-2 with 1,000 km range willl be the Naval version for our 8 up-coming Submarines which we are buying from china with ToT.
means it will be fire from the Submarines for our Second-Strike Nuclear Capability.
we will hear about it in couple of years.

Babur-3 will be Land attack cruise missile with 12,00 km range but with the Speed of (Mach 1.2) .

Will these Babur's evade the Indian s-400?

Will these Babur's evade the Indian s-400?

Maybe , Maybe not.
ABMs are not 100% Perfect.
we heard they are Intrested to buy s-300 & s-400.
but deal is not done yet.
and s-400 is very expensive system.

on the other hand, Chinese already gt the s-300 & Signed the deal for s-400.
and its a good news for us.

Thats why we need to make MIRVs before any IRBM or ICBM.

Pakistan also has an airline called Shaheen Air.

Yea Shaheen Air they recently had a crash landing in lahore last month but all passengers were safe and in the investigation Pilot was blamed as being drunk but how can a drunk pilot do a safe landing without injuring anyone? Some says this story was just to cover the faulty old planes Shaheen Air use.

btw i don't know much but isn't there any regular or random test on pilots to check if they are drunk or not?

Ghouri-2 has the range of 1500-1700 km.
and its in Service.

Thanks for the informative post bro it's always a pleasure to learn from someone who actually know this stuff in deep details.

Pilots are tested before every rotation. If I recall, the aircraft in question was a Boeing 737-800 enroute from KHI to LHE as its first run of the day; so the pilot would have been screened in Karachi airport's premises.

I'm surprised he got away with it, especially in a country where alcohol is banned.

He is arrested and facing the charges but according to reports he is being used as scapegoat by air line to hide their own faults. From what i heard Shaheen Air mostly purchase old PIA planes

We need to be a part of the Turkish stealth fighter development program. I've heard good things about the 5th gen plane Turkey is developing..

Plenty of engineering talent in Pak to eventually make our own planes.. Just need to get rid of this sifarish culture and let merit flourish
