What's new

Pakistan finish Day 3 at 37/0 in chase of 176 after Hasan Ali and Yasir Shah five-fers

Really annoyed we missed a golden chance to get a big 1st innings lead.

Saw Yasir Shah bowling today and he doesnt look a 100% to me. Bilal Asif doesnt look threatening either. Hassan Ali is far too inconsistent for my liking. So i guess it all falls upon on M Abbass again.

Again the batting lets us down. Should have scored at least 300 to put us in the box seat. As it stands it is anyone's match. Pak batting last chasing anything makes the hair on my head stand up!:ma

should get this jeet raval guy soon, he looks a bit dodgy. Just a matter of time

People keep banging on about Pakistan not batting well in the first innings... As if NZ batted any better, they conceded a 70 run deficit

Looks like wicket has improved for batting since day 1.

Pakistan has to bat last , and they have awful record batting last lately.

To be honest if Kiwis had another genuine bowler Pakistan would have been bowled out much earlier , kiwis are no doubt better than Aussies under these conditions.

He may not end up with the greatest record because of multiple reasons and because New Zealand do not play enough Tests, but I have no doubt in my mind that Williamson is amongst the greatest technicians to have played the game.

NZ has yet to get a lead of 100 and verdict issued for a loss. They must have divine powers which many do not.

The perfect Test #3. Other 3 are more suited for Test #4 spot, rather than 3.

This Test is as good as gone unless Abbas get 4-5 quick wickets right now. If Yasir can't take wickets, then he needs to bowl maidens. And apparently he can't do that either. Pakistan's problem has always been to keep selecting players on their past performances and not understanding reality. Yasir will continue to be given opportunities to play for the next 3 years simply because he has 170 odd wickets in 30 tests but not realizing that he is nowhere near good enough now to hold a place in the team.

It is over I think. Either of Williamson or Raval will probably get a hundred and Taylor does not miss out in consecutive innings. Lower-order and the tail might join the party as well.

2-0 vs Sri Lanka, a drawn Test vs Australia without Smith and now this potential defeat. Apparently, we do not deserve our number 7 ranking and captaincy is not an issue. Everything is water under the bridge as long as we don't lose a series to England.

I hope fans are appreciating the batting excellence being displayed by williamson and raval. no other batsman could have played out abbas like this. yasir is being milked easily.

So far, Williamson has been the first batsman to tame Abbas. Raval is an underrated opener as well, not easy to dislodge once set. A classical opener, pretty much in the mould of the highly underrated Karunaratne.

very good point.

Brilliant ball, almost unplayable; not easy to bowl Williamson inside out.

Williamson missing out on a big one here. That was a brilliant delivery by Yasir though.

Lack of variety hurting yasir , reason why he is averaging 34 in the last 3 years ans SR of 66.

New Zealand is batting with a plan here. Attacking Yasir Shah and trying to put him off the line. That way they also get runs and don't feel any pressure of dots created by Abbas

pitch seems to have flattened out. good sign for pakistan. new zealand have to put a target of at least 250.

Good to see Hasan getting his form and fitness back.

Most likely we'll see Abbas, Hasan and Shaheen in South Africa

Good control of the reverse swing from Hasan Ali in this Test match.

Hassan Ali strikes first ball off his spell for the 2nd time in this innings!! Come on let's have a couple more now

Your analysis are so wrong, it's sad at times. You should really stick to whining and picking on Pakistan.

Taylor, Raval and KW all back in the hut.

Sarfy springs to life behind the stumps, chirpy as ever. Pak sensing a few more wickets here def

Problem with pak is half of the team needs kicking out imam azhar sarfataz hafeez bilal hasan... when eng have better spinners than pak u knw they are problems..had Santnar been playing pak wouldn’t have crossed 150

Ifs and buts don't win you Tests

I do not know the knowledge about swing and such but a question for those who know. Does reverse swing require a specific technique? If so, is it the same or similar to convention swing's technique? Why cannot Hasan be a successful new ball bowler if he has so much success with the old ball?
