Would be interesting to make a list.
At least what's sure is that apart from PAK no Asian team has won an ODI series in SA.

Australia and Pakistan only two team,s which has won an ODI Series in all Cricket Playing cricket Countries

Impressive, surprised more teams haven't done it. Where have SA not won? India?

India and Sri Lanka, though they squared a series 2-2 in India and would have been interesting to see the outcome of the abandoned match

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/series/225962.html

Their W/L ratio against SL in SL is the worst of all, considering that they won 2 out of 16 matches (W/L ratio of 0.15)
They won one match in 1993 and the other 20 years later, in 2013.

Other countries are either 0.50-0.70 (England, India, NZ), +1 (Pak and AUS, interestingly) and even +3 (!) for the WI.

SA still has been more dominant in India than the other way though, from quite a distance.

Historically, SA has been a dominant team and they have been more dominant than any other team except Aus in the last 25 years. So not surprising that they did better in India. India has done poorly in Aus/SA always. When did Ind win in Aus?

The Monkey Gate Tour and the last tri-series with SL.

edit - actually, Australia won the latter.

OK.

I don't think tri-series is included in this thread. I think it's limited to bilateral.

Not bad, I'm delighted! Especially after finding out only PAK and AUS have achieved this.

Let's take into the account that Pakistan have literally played away everywhere since 09 so higher chances of winning series away compared to any other team.

Impressive achievement. Anyone know if we've beaten every test nation in an ODI series at home?

Unfortunately since that ODI series win in England in 1974 we havn't won an ODI series since then in England.

We should have won against England in 2006 and 2010, in 2010 we lost due to some awful umpiring and in 2006 we threw it away after leading 2-0

We won in Australia before that 2002 series, in the triangular series between Aus/Pak/WI in 1999.

Australia didn't even make it to the final in that series, as we beat WI 2-0 during the best of 3 finals.

It's the series where Mohammad Zahid debuted as I recall.

Only counted bilateral series.

Series win is a series win ;)

Take them which ever way you can bro.

Impressive achievement so Australia and Pakistan are Real Madrid and AC Milan :p

The series win in Aus is against a full throttle Aus aswell with McGrath, Warne, Ponting, Gilchrist and etc.

I remember that series very well. Pakistan were rated the best ODI side after beating AUS 2-1. Akhtar was bowled a bouncer in of those matches that went way over rashid's head. He was bowling at terrifying speeds that series.

The ball of the century was bowled by Wasim Akram to Adam Gilchrist in the 2nd ODI- the first ball bowled of the game and gilly was out for a golden duck. 2 balls later, mr punter was out for a 2 ball duck too.

Yeah Wasim was always great against Australia whenever I saw him at least. But Akhtar was downright scary. Looked like he was going to kill the batsmen. :akhtar.

Just did some research. To answer everyone:

Australia and Pakistan are the only teams to win a series in all top 8 countries.

India has never played a series in Australia and lost all 4 in South Africa.

^ We have played tri-series in australia and have also won in 2008.

Good job. Also try to win a few at home other than mauling SL.

I think that tri-series in Australia should be counted. Pretty much since the inception of ODI cricket, ODI series played in Australia have been all tri-series. There were a few exceptions such as Pakistan in 2002. And lately they've stopped playing tri-series. But 40 years of almost 0 bilateral series makes it impossible to win a bilateral series in Australia.

Even then, India hasn't won in South Africa, at least. So only Australia and Pakistan have won a series in each major country.

India is the only team that has never play an ODI series in Australia. Too scared I guess.

Surprised some very strong teams have failed to achieve this feat , home track bullies the lot of them:misbah
Also reckon the current team somehow plays better ODI cricket outside the UAE .

Who care about these meaning-less odi series. Its the Icc trophies which matters.

About time we shed some light on our brilliant record in the UAE.

i think india is yet to register a series win in SAF

Missed it narrowly in 2011. We were leading the series 2-1, but lost it 3-2 hurts. Yusuf pathan produced the innings of his life in the final odi, but still it wasnt enough.

The ones played at home are the only ones that are meaningless:srt
A series win in India , southafrica , australia is >numerous ones at home .
Teams that have won would know :misbah

Very impressive indeed but the record the really hurts is the fact that we have NEVER won a test series in South Africa, Australia (not a 100% sure so would appreciate if someone could verify) and wait for it .............. WEST INDIES!

Yep, let it sink in that we have never won a test series in West Indies :(

:viv:holding

I said Icc trophies, it includes champions trophy too, which we won it in England. And i don't care about these bilateral or triangular series, whether at home or away. one might be a world beater in these odi series (both home and away) but failed to deliver in ICC trophies- like WC and CT, does it make any sense?

funnily enough Pakistan has one of the best records vs westindies in westindies though , so a series is a matter of time tbh.
Australia and southafrica is a different beast altogether.

No , it doesn't make sense because this thread isn't about worldcups .You are angry because India are not in the list , only Pakistan and Australia are so you need to relax , i wish i could manipulate stats to make you feel better though .

WI have pretty much been a minnow for the past 15 years. It is a sad, sad story that we have not won a test series there in recent times ..

Why i will feel angry? And i feel happy for your team since its a commendable effort to win an odi series against south Africa and Australia, since their pitches are polar opposites to ours. I am just saying that to say other Teams are HTB beause they didn't achieve that 'feat' is a flawed logic. Just like India, who won champions Trophy by beating every other time, that too in England. same applied to SA who are always competitive in every conditions.

something to cheers for pak fan......now next title is having win worldcup twice in same venue.(australia)..go pakistan go.....

India's best chance to join the club .
Southafrica missing Ab and with fairly average talents like phephlukwayo in the mix India should fancy their chances .

Not really. Although, Pakistan did make it interesting in a manner only they know :yk

JK was half injured yet he came back and defended in last over to seal the deal.

Misbah won ODI series in India and SA. Two of the toughest team to beat at home. Especially India.

PS: Can India pull off a 2-4?

Not really. We were always tough to beat in tests but in ODIS, Australia amost always beat us until this decade even at home. Also pakistan have won here as well i the past.

England had a great opportunity to do a tri series with themselves, Pak and Ind this summer but wasted it.

Pakistan won the first match easily, had a few hiccups in the second but the bowlers came clutch, as usual, and then let the home team win the last game just because.

Had those been five match series, Pakistan would have won each of them 4-1.
