This includes both bilateral and triangular series'. Australia has dominated Pakistan for the last decade and its going to be an uphill task to win a series against Australia.

Is it time for Pakistan to end the streak? :ajmal

In 24 matches they have won only 5 matches in those 10 years....what a horrendous record

Even in 2010, I was hoping they would beat them as back then we had a good ODI team and Aussies team was in transition

I think it is the psychological battle Pakistan face when facing Australia

Much the same with South Africa as well when we face them

It's time to turn the tide. It's the fielding, that usually hurts us, the Aussies seem to take their fielding, a whole level up, against us, we seem to go, three levels down. Oh and we can't chase above 200, realistically. So setting a target is important but we did beat them in the World Cup and comprehensively, at that.

We will do it this time Inshallah. Batting is our problem but i hope we are not chasing too many time and If we play some aggressive cricket.

Well, now is as good a chance as any for Pak to win.

The Aussie team isn't what it once was of course.

Both teams were humiliated by Eng as well in their respective last series against Eng.

Should be a great contest.

If Pak get their team selection right, I would back Pak.

Our batting always lets us down against the aussies

I hope we dont do our usual act and selfcombust just before the finishing line

Our ODI record against Australia and South Africa has always been pretty damn bad. These two teams are the ones against whom we have struggled most historically.

On the plus side, this is surely one of the weakest Australian sides in the last 10 years

Understandable,,Australia was way above any team in the past decade...It's not the same force now!

not really for South Africa.

Historically, we have struggled, but more recently we have been more competitive against them.

And does anyone remember who was singlehandedly responsible for our victory in 2012? It is just sad we do not produce such talents again.

Pakistan have a massive problem while chasing. It is a fact that cannot be twisted. Even when chasing totals like 240 - 250 , pakistan would really struggle , whereas teams are chasing 300 plus totals these days.

The entire way that Pakistan batting chases is poor. They start blocking and then try and hit out. This will never benefit.

Damn. Didn't realise it had been that long. JAMODI's just got slightly less meaningless.

Conditions will suit Pakistan in the UAE, the Australian team is still unsettled, and PAK has better spinners than AUS.

This just may be your chance!

it's a shame we only played them in tests and T20's in england. We would have won in ODI'S for sure.

Psychological edge gives Australia the edge

Imagine the situation:

Hussey in with 9 wickets down, 18 left off the last over and Junaid Khan is bowling

First three balls go for no runs (Kamran Akmal drops Hussey first ball)

Next ball 6, then another 6 and we are into the final delivery...

Another 6 and Pakistan lose from a winning situation

A dejected Pakistan leave the field, losing the series 3-0 in three tight games going to the last delivery!!

Don’t forget, Australia's domination began with WC 99 final vs. Pakistan, and ended with Pakistan in WC 11 QF.

History is about to be rewritten.

Pakistan to thrash Australia 3-0.

3 sixes in the 3 last balls of the game :o I dont think that has happened even in the IPL mate :afridi

The last time we beat Aussies in an ODI series we had batsmen like saeed anwar and bowlers like wasim and waqar.

I remember that series well. We lost the 1st ODI and then wasim akram helped will a low scoring 2nd ODI. The 3rd game of the series we scored 240+ and the shoaib akthar ripped new bum holes for the australian batsmen with a brutal display of fast bowling, those were days when we were a good ODI team

To be fair, Australia is not nearly the powerhouse they were in the last 10 years.

don't mind if you guys break the odi streak as the next few months of one day cricket are just glorified WC warm up matches, test streak is the only thing that matters but sadly thats the one i think we have little hope of keeping alive.

Pakistan has smacked australia equally in the last meet ups. I say this time the streak would have ended if you dont have misbah as the captain.

Misbahs only been around since 07, players like younis and afridi (who we've carried for years on end) have been pretty awaful when it has come to winning crunch odi games against aussies and saffers

Back then Australian batting wasn't this weak.

Records are meant to be broken

We never defeated SA in an ODI series before 2013.Every day is a new day i hope PCT will give their best to win a series against aussies :)

Can we add a poll to this thread (or create a new thread)?

Predict the result of Aus-Pak ODI series.
Pak wins 3-0
Pak wins 2-1
Pak loses 1-2
Pak loses 0-3

In case of ties or rain out (ha ha)...
Pak wins 1-0
Pak wins 2-0
Tie 1-1
Aus wins 1-0
Aus wins 2-0

Never defeated SA in SA in Pakistan's HISTORY. No Asian team ever defeated them.

Pakistan did it under Misbah, will beat AUS under Misbah too. Worry not! ;)

we have a great chance to finally win one this series.

ODI hardly counts. Just two days of good cricket will win you a series.

Test series is another issue. Having said that, Pakistan should fancy their chances against this Aus team in UAE.

Pakistan have to start chasing 260 - 280 regularly and be prepared for that , otherwise they will not win in long run. The dynamics of batting has changed.

Will be interesting to see how the Aussie batsmen go against Raza and Zulfi.

on the downside our team is probably our weakest in the last 10 years as well

Actually Pakistan is in a better position to win than before. Earlier teams with Hussey et al were too hard to beat. Current setup is fallible, and you guys have loads of practice at UAE.

Go win.

although I think ODI Aussies will clean sweep if Hafeez is missing.

We came really close the last time around but let's hope we can cross the line this time and not panick in the series decider.

Not going to happen this time which is sadness IMO :( This was probably our best chance at getting them

Last chance today to end the streak.
Lol, no.

Pakistan need to win the next 2 to end it.

Aus win today, you can probably add another 4 years and make it 2 decades.

Australia will win this 5 - 0 or 4- 1

Mark my words.

Even with this weak team , Australia are miles ahead in fielding and fitness. Pakistan do not have the players who can make impact here. There may be some good individual performances , but cannot see pakistan winning matches.

With this squad we will get innings defeats in ODIs

Australia have lost only 1 of their last 23 ODIs at home including a World Cup.

4-1 would be a superb achievement for Pakistan. Specially with this squad.

The funny here is the rider that 'with this squad' we will get hammered. There's always a twilight zone fantasy on pp that there's a world beating squad sitting on the sidelines.
Logically speaking whatever squad you select will get hammered badly because we are still finding our feet in the game

Aussies are world Champions, if Pakistan even manages a draw in one of the matches it's an achievement, Pakistan's main weakness is the bowling here.

Don't they lose the previous serie against south africa?

I'm guessing that 1 loss was against us.

So that's another moral victory.:srini

Only see a 5-0 scorecard at the end of the series and I'll be glad to see it as it's going to get rid of Azhar as captain. I really couldn't care less about Azhar's captaincy records (including batting) as he's been an utter failure. At best we'll see 4-1 or moral victories where we're going to cut cake for each run scored.

Can you tell me with equal certainty that any other captain will do better?

Not saying that we have an Imran Khan in the wings but Sarfraz looks a much better fighter.

hope and a prayer to be honest. for me both candidates have an equal chance. personally I feel that Azhar might take his confidence of the test tour to the odi side...lets see

Nah not really, I've seen him smash Test hundreds before and he didn't replicate that to his captaincy in ODI's. Two years of ODI captaincy is enough for me to say that he's not suited for the job. Sarfraz has made T20's enjoyable for me to watch though.

Gonna lose 5-0. Only positive that can come out of that is Azhar Ali's sacking as captain.

I can't see them winning a single, I don't know how. Unless Sharjeel and Barab have heroic games and we score 350+ but even then, a bowling attack of Wahab, Rahat, Imad, Irfan and Amir might not be able to defend that

In the other thread I created about Pakistan not touring here for Summer, a lot of people kept bringing up Australia's test record in Asia.

How do we explain Pakistan's poor record in Australia and UAE since 2002? Australia has lost ODI Series' to nearly all major nations, even West Indies drew an ODI Series with Australia 3-4 years back.
