For pitches like these Pakistan need to have a bowling all rounder who can bowl medium fast at least , the pitch had nothing for the spinners and Australia found it way too easy to score runs against them. For places like Nz , australia , NZ and south Pakistan should have a quick bowling all rounder in squad. Faheem Asharaf , Amir yamin and Hammad azam are there , we need to pick one of them and give them a few chances.

Poor thread, bowling is not the problem here when the batting fails so miserably in the last 13 overs.. no kind of bowling will defend this total..

on this pitch even 300 was not defendable.. case in point Aussies had 7 wickets in hand with 5 overs to go... they would've chased even 300 down from this position

Rizwan, Imad and Amir are all considered 'allrounders' by us. look at the bright batting prospect they showed us in the last 10

Hammad azam may be at best an average player, but this team is a crap team.

Let's give Hammad an extended run of at least 5 games on the trot. Out off the 'allrounders' in Pakistan he is best suited to slogging at the end.

His bowling is nothing to write home about, but at least he is tall and if a pitch has something he can do some damage.

We have missed a pace bowling all rounder through out the summer. Its lunatic not to have someone like Amir Yamin / Amad Butt / Fahim Ashraf in the squad. We could have easily picked one of them over useless Asad S.

whats the use if you give it in UAE... Shoud be given in pitches like these and places in AUS, NZL,SA and ENG

Pakistan missed a fast bowler today. Imad had no reason to be playing today, with Hafeez and Malik in the side.

why not, there are numerous threads here claiming "give us 240 and we will defend" and many chest bumping threads like that, at this rate I see chest thumping threads titled " give us 340+ and we will defend"

Well dont think any captain would have dropped him considering his performance in the 2 previous games. He was the main reason we controlled Australia from scoring 300 in the last 2 games as he kept them in check during the middle overs apart from getting important break throughs

Pakistan missed a batsman today.

You don't win too many games of ODIs nowadays with just 260 on the board.

Hafeez should be replaced with a fast bowling allrounder. He has no place in this team. Don't care about his bowling he can never run through sides and on top of that he'll bully his way to bat as an opener which means we'll be playing with a walking wicket everytime. We will be stuck at 8th ranking with this guy.

Alongwith a fast bowling allrounder we also need a specialist opener not make shift openers like azhar and hafeez.

We can not just play a fast bowler who can not bat at all , we already have junaid in there. Pakistan needed a pace all rounder who could bat a bit. There is no use of elongating our tail even further.

It was a totally different pitch though and Pakistani captains need to be proactive instead of simply dropping players once they fail. Now not only did Imad cost us the match, his own confidence has been shattered so he won't bowl as well on tracks that will suit him, until he regains it.

Riaz would have scored just as many runs as Imad did. Besides, you should pick your four best bowlers plus an all-rounder. That for us would have been the four pacers and Hafeez.

We didn't set the score that this pitch required. You could play 11 bowlers and you still wouldn't have defended 263.

Thank you Babar, atleast you got your personal milestone. Glad we are bringing up another batch of selfish batsmen.

I agree, we generally tend to overpraise Pakistan's ability to restrict teams to 'low totals' as if that's the only thing that makes us related to the past ODI teams of yesteryear, but people forget we are only doing that now once in 10 games when we are playing a half decent side..

On the other hand, we are hardly ever chasing down anything above 250.. we do it once in maybe 2 years.. last we chased vs England 2016, before that vs Srilanka maybe in 2015

2 dropped catches in his knock.. the Aussies won't be so giving everytime

What about the rest it's not only his job. What were hafeez, asad and umer akmal doing. I really hope he plays for himself all the time, that's what personally what I will do when I have players like hafeez and asad around me. At least he will get us to a decent score.

Not 'A' but atleast 3... We are so far behind, that its not even funny any more...Pakistan needs to reboot LOI teams, I am not sure what PCB is waiting for?? - Azhar, Hafeez, Shafiq,Rizwan (even Umar) are not the answers, they are the reason why we have so many questions

On bowling front we do need 2 140K bowlers to make this attack break into top 3(all formats), you are not going to be top tier bowling with only 1.5 bowlers, these medium pacers are useless... Again we need to bring power to our game, without that we are going to be no 8 no matter what...

I disagree, we saw how both Junaid and Amir caused problems. It just relied on us getting quick wickets not letting anyone play too long, there was something in the pitch for pacers. We didn't have too much luck unfortunately which allowed both Smith and Handscomb to work their way in.

Once you got yourself in, it was the sort of pitch would be very hard to get you out. If Handscomb had got out, could have been a very different story.

I don't think Babar was selfish but am kind of surprised people are going after Umar saying he's the reason Babar got out etc. Umar didn't play well, but don't think he was selfish he was just poor. While Babar outperformed all of them (and he still played the best innings from our side), it's kind of true that he should have accelerated once he was set, he looked comfortable. Which he didn't really do. Have to take advatange of the pitch when set, and as I said once you were in on this pitch, very difficult to get you out. And there was still plenty of batting down the order if things went wrong, it wasn't exactly a collapse like circumstance.
