Islamabad United captain Misbah-ul-Haq is spoilt for choice after his talented bunch of youngsters impressed in the first play-off against Karachi Kings in the HBL Pakistan Super League at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday night.

While talking to Khaleej Times exclusively after the match, the captain cool said: "Everybody wants to play but if you have youngsters like these who win matches for you then I think you shouldn't have any problem sitting out and watching them perform.

"Today (Sunday) I didn't play and Farhan Sahibzada got the chance. He gave Islamabad a rousing start in the company of the red-hot Luke Ronchi.

"I am very satisfied with the team performance whether I play the match or not."

Islamabad have a galaxy of emerging stars. Asif Ali and Hussain Talat are star performers of this PSL.

"Asif has an abundance of talent and the PSL has provided him with a chance to flourish on the big stage. I am aware of his abilities because in the 2013 semifinal of domestic T20 tournament, he hit a blistering century against the bowling of Mohammad Irfan and Rahat Ali. I knew from that day that this lad will play for Pakistan one day," Misbah said.

While talking about Talat, the captain was of the view that the left-hander has a great future.

"He is a consistent performer at the domestic level. In the past he had some fitness issues but he has overcome the problem now and in my opinion Pakistan need a player like him in the middle order. The boy from Shahdra (near Lahore) has a bright chance to represent the country in future. These players are Pakistan's asset and I hope they will be taken care of by Pakistan Cricket Board."

Talking about the poor turnout of spectators for the Dubai matches, Misbah said: "Some of the Dubai matches failed to draw big crowds but we can't blame the expatriate Pakistanis living here. It is difficult for the working people to spare time and money for the matches on a regular basis. The location of the stadium is also an issue for working class people who don't own cars."

The PCB is making all efforts to take the league back to Pakistan in the near future.

"West Indies have agreed to visit and play a T20 series in Karachi and it will pave the way for international cricket's return to Pakistan," said the former Pakistan captain.

Fakhar
Sharjeel
Babar
Sarfraz
Talat
Shadab
Imad
Faheem (Floater)
Hasan
Amir
Junaid/Usman

Batting: Quality Batting up to 8, Explosive openers

Bowling: Fakhar and Talat are part timers and don't really need to bowl, Shadab and Imad are two different spinners, and then 4 seamers who all offer something different too.

In spinning conditions, seamer comes out and spinner comes in; Nawaz, Gohar, Hafeez (the bowler)
Incidentally, if Hafeez can bowl, he'd be in my team as a bowler, coming in at 7

What a team for 2019 World Cup. If only Sharjeel would be back by then...

A benefit of playing 4 seamers is you can carry someone like Shaheen Shah and you don't have to give him all of the allotted overs

There is overwhelming evidence to suggest that he does, one or two statements in the media don't change history.

As they say: you are only as good as your last game :ashwin

We need to forget the past...

I like this team mostly, Haris comes in for Sharjeel though. The former is more consistent and prolific in batting, and a better fielder.

Only because of Imad. Agar Imad na hota then it would be terrible :))

Well... It looks clear that Hussain Talat can make his debut in the team soon. On the other hand why do I keep seen Sharjeel's named

being suggested? Is this wishful thinking or he is clear for selection and all the fixing saga is cleared?:13:

Wishful thinking more than anything else lol

If Sharjeel can't play, then for me I'd look to Saibzada Farhan. While Haris would probably be a better batsman consistently, I don't see him being a long term option for us. Of course, beggars can't be choosers, and Haris would be a much better option in comparison to many of our other failed openers.
Personally, I see him more as a test batsman, and in terms of utility to Pakistan Cricket, if he focused on that format, we might have a prolific test batsman on our hands...

This is even more impressive when you realise that no batsman has even reached double digits against the Rahat in T20 international matches, for Asif Ali to score a century is one hell of an achievement.

This is a good T20 team

Yes, that is why you would play a middle-order of Azhar Ali, Younis Khan, yourself, and Asad Shafiq in your time.

What's more impressive is that Misbah's been grooming him since and keeping a close eye on him, but people will say Asif is only playing because he's Misbah's 'friend'. The man has a knack of finding and grooming talent and would make a great u19 coach once he retires
