Pakistan needs to lose more series before we will see radical changes in the ODI team

Last time we toured Australia we lost 5-0 and the last time we toured England we lost 3-2 so when you put 4-1 series losses in Australia and England this time they dont look much worse than before. We have been humiliated quite a bit by now and our ranking rightly shows that but we haven't been humiliated on the world stage badly enough that we see so radical changes in the team like England saw after their humiliating defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in the WC.

If our board makes a change right now it would be the captain for obvious reasons but apart from that I dont see any major changes being made to the whole squad ignoring 1 or 2 changes here in there. However, if we were to continue with this current line up and get humiliated to a great extent at the CT this summer maybe then we might be able to see any radical changes being made to the whole squad and system although they too seem quite unlikely.

So, are you in favor of PCT getting trashed a couple more times after which we MIGHT see some big changes or you have had enough and want change right now which probably will be just the captain and a player or two? I'm up for some more thrashing if it gets us rid of the TTFs who have been sitting in the team for too long now and I pray to God it gets rid of our long line of accumulators.

I don't get all this fuss about big changes in England team. The core of their team is still same. Hales, Root, Morgan, Buttler, Taylor, Moeen, Woakes. All these players played against Bangladesh in WC 2015 and these players barring Taylor (due to health issues) still make the core of England Batting lineup. They brought in JUST TWO batsmen - Roy and Stokes. So, no big changes or overhaul in terms of players selection. They just changed their mindset and I don't get how did they do that.
But I'm getting your point, I hope we will see some pleasant changes after this series unless some TTF performs brilliantly in PSL. We can't afford more thrashing. Let's save some respect for ourselves and don't be the official minnow.

I mentioned in one of the other posts that our vision is only limited to the 'next match' or the 'next series.' Unless and until we get rid of this fear of losing mentality, we won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Will probably be battling it out against the Windies and the Lankans for number 7 at best, seeing Bangladesh are ahead of us in LOI already.

The core of our team should be in the age bracket of 25 (add one/take one), with 2/3 players under and 2/3 over it. Give young guys a longer rope and stick with them, discard anyone who's over 30 and isn't providing any value to the team. Pick horses for courses rather than playing people out of position. However, we've hardly seen radical changes in a Pakistani team. Would most probably induct one youngster for the next tour and Inzi will claim 'We're giving youth a chance and building for the future.' :yk2

I am all for change but sadly we do not have the talent banging hard at the door. When I say banging hard at the door, I don't mean a good century by Imam ul Haq in a final or a 130 scored by Fakhar Zaman. I mean a consistent season, if not two. The kind of season that Ahmed Shehzad and Kamran Akmal have had, but we all know that these players have failed to dominate at international level. When consistency is missing, we need a selector with a good eye to pick players on potential, similar to what Australia did with young Renshaw, Handcomb and the left hander batsman who failed miserably against Pakistan. Unfortunately, Inzi does not seem to have that eye either. For now we will continue to lurk towards the bottom of the LOI rankings.

Drawing the series in England( which was a fluke courtesy of Yasir shah's 10fer) turned out to be detrimental for us as it covered up all our weaknesses.

Apart from Zimbabwe and the West Indies all the teams are 'good'.

Sri Lanka is also pretty average these days. Bangladesh is about par with Pakistan. That means the following are clearly ahead of us in the short form: IND, AUS, SAF, NZ, ENG

Pretty much how it's been for the last 5 years or so.
