It is natural for everyone to come down hard on the likes of Nawaz, Asif, Khusdil, Shadab e.t.c for their failings but i feel it is unfair to blame these guys when the top order habitually consumes 80% of the deliveries and leaves these guys to score 10-12 runs per over against good bowling sides, against long boundaries especially in conditions where the pitch is not easy to tee off from ball one.
Why can't these players be allowed to bat early on and take advantage of the fielding restrictions and play a few deliveries before getting hang of the pitch and teeing off?
Nawaz was promoted early on against India and he was able to play freely. Sending these guys early and them hitting lusty blows early on will put the opposition bowlers, captains under pressure and make them change their strategy mid way.
I would like Pakistan to experiment with this approach going forward.
Sadly people need to wake up and smell the coffee, view our National T-20 and PSL performances, these guys are the best we have in T-20 format. Sharjeel is not going to be picked again with Ramiz in charge, Haider Ali cannot do much if the top order gives him a lousy platform and Shan Masood is another anchor, he will not do much in a 10-12 rpo situation either.
