Pakistan should add a third spinner in the playing XI against Australia

You heard it. Three players, namely Usman, Fakhar and Rizwan will be going back to domestic cricket after this match according to reports. This will bring the number of players to 15. We can easily afford adding another player to the squad.

We have seen how useless Wahab is based on his performance in 2 innings, side match and this current match. It makes sense to go with Abbas and 3 specialist spinners with either Irfan or Kashif as third spinner instead of Shadab. Shadab will be coming off injury and I don’t think his bowling is test ready. I am a firm believer in playing players when they are in form and both Kashif and Irfan are. Everyone’s favorite Zafar Gohar is below these 2 in terms of wickets and form. Asghar is simply not good enough at the moment.

Although I am all for Mir Hamza making his debut in place of Wahab, conventional wisdom says to go with 3 spinners.

I'm not convinced it's his form. He isn't particularly great in the first innings, he really doesn't turn it enough and the less said about his googly the better. He relies on DRS, it seems.

Yasir Shah is on the decline. Just provides good net practice for batters nowadays after bowling marathon spells

Kashif absolutely deserves a go soon. I am worried about Yasir's form.

Kshif's numbers are unbelievable for a career of a decade - spin version of Sadaf and guy can bat, as I see from FC profile. His List A stats are even better - 22/101 in batting & 24/4.2 in bowling - not sure why he didn't make it ahead of Nawaz & Imad. May be he plays for Regional teams, which is probably lower in hierarchy, but Imad also plays mostly for Regional teams.

No need. Play the same team for the second test. Three spinners is overkill 99% of the time, especially when we also have Hafeez and Haris.

No need for another spinner. Just bowl Hafeez and Sohail more and bowl Yasir a little less to lighten workload on him. Hafeez only bowled 3 overs to Yasir's 28 overs in the 1st innings.

Two full time specialist spinners are more than enough, a third one will not get much bowling. We already have Hafeez and Harris so there are 4 spinning options right there

Could be an option. Kashif Bhatti is going ham once again in domestics.
