ISLAMABAD: Indian players are also expected to feature in the inaugural edition of Pakistan’s Super Kabaddi League (SKL) to take place in Lahore from May 1.

Talking to APP, Secretary Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF), Muhammad Sarwar said: “we had sent an invitation to our Indian counterpart for participation in the Super League”. “They will seek permission from their government for participation in the league,” he added.

Speaking about the league, he said eight teams will take part in the league including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Gwadar, Multan and Gujrat.

“A total of 16 to 20 international players from Iran, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Kenya, Iraq, Bangladesh and Japan are expected to participate in the league. Our aim is to give as much exposure to our national players from this league,” he said.

He said the players’ drafting will take place in Lahore on April 23. “The opening ceremony of the league will be held on May 1 and the event will conclude on May 10,” he maintained.

I hear more people watch Kabaddi in India than Football in the uk lol..my dad used to play in his village and even took me to a match in karachi in the 80's..lol

Indian national kabaddi team and hockey team both includes almost 80 -90 percent punjabi players. Sports has always been punjabis choice untill recently drugs and all realted issus in indian punjab and may be extremism related issues in pakistani punjab. Otherwise punjab can give world class athletes to both countries.
I hope sports plus right education gives peace, love and awareness to both countries.

Punjab government on Tuesday placed a ban on Kabaddi and other activities which may lead to “dangerous incidents” on school premises, following the death of a child in Khanewal earlier this month, DawnNewsTV reported.

In a notification issued by the Punjab chief minister’s monitoring force for school education department, a copy of which is available with DawnNewsTV, the provincial authority informed school administration that “all such activities and games which may cause serious incidents are totally banned”.

It further ordered that the recess in charge should keep an eye to avoid such incident in future, and said that the head of the institution should “direct all teachers to guide the students to avoid such activities”.

The notification has been issued following the death of a student at a high school in Khanewal earlier this month. The sixth-grade student reportedly died while playing Kabaddi during recess time.

The headmaster of the school has already been suspended for showing negligence.

Probably coz India's population ,not to forget Bollywood angle and Star promoting it helped a lot, even my city Chennai (one of the owners being Sachin) got a franchise last season and there is considerable following.

Although this is team Kabbadi if you are talking about the one Played in Punjab on both sides it's different and more of one on one.

How do you kabaddi 1 on 1? When I played it in mumbai as a kid it was always the team format similar to the league

I played kabaddi before and almost ran out of breath while repeating kabbadi, kabbadi, kabaddi even before I got to the wrestling part (don't know if it is an actual thing but was told to do so) and this was when I used to play football everyday in 50 degrees heat in the sand (as it pulls your feet under) and go to the gym.

GOI should not allow Indian Kabaddi Players to participate or may be only cricket > Army Jawaans blood :))

They didnot allow Pakistani players to participate in Pro Kabbadi League of India. Would be surprising if they allowed Indians to go to Pakistan.

I guess only reason even a proposal like Indian players participating in Pakistani Kabaddi league is coming because of TV money. Is star involved in Pakistan Kabaddi as well?

The league has been kicked off but i have not seen live action yet..Which channel is telecasting it?

Kabbadi is a major embarrassment. I hate this so called Sport.

Indian Players are mor professional than Pakistani in Pro Kabaddi.
