Or lack thereof!

Seems like apart from Umar Aknal - not too many big performances in the PSL when it comes to batting - is that a reflection of what we see at the international level also?

Pakistani batters @PSL

It seems like without the overseas players, a lot of the Pakistani players dont have it in them to chase big totals.

For example, just look at the Karachi v Quetta match, the overseas players are doing it for the Karachi and I can bet none of the Pakistani players have it in them to even come close to the Quetta total, let alone hit so many sixes as Colin Ingram.

Also most of the upcoming batsmen like Ali Imran, Saud Shakeel, Khushdil Shah, Nabi Gul, Saad Ali, Nasir Nawaz are yet to get a single game.

PSL franchises are only selecting Pakistani players with big hitting hacking abilities, selecting the top Pakistani domestic performing batsmen like Abid Ali is not a priority.

Maybe if there was a 50 over PSL tournament will those guys get a chance

Ingram 127
The next highest score was 19,
is this the biggest gap ever?
while chasing

Some very ordinary performances from Pakistani batsmen so far.

Am I surprised? No.

What do you guys make of ahsan Ali and Umar siddiq do you guys think these two might be something we Can work with

I suggested in a thread I created about having a 50 over PSL tourney so we can find Pakistani players that are fit for 50 over cricket

Who will come to watch then

Priority should be talent production. Other than that few marketing techniques such as advertising similar to the one we see before PSL, cheaper tickets, held in stadiums all over Pakistan so people in all cities get chance to watch, etc.

In that way you make the money you need and also give some younger guys a chance.

Could any of our current batsmen have played an innings like Colin Ingram did against Quetta?

No chance!

i am expecting one big hundred from umer akmal considering the form he is in.

Umar Akmal is good for 60/70, but I won't expect anywhere near a 127* from him. That was such a phenomenal innings, we may not see an innings like that for another 5 years.

Don't forget, Umar Akmal has 1 T20 century in 247 games. Its unfair to expect another from him in this PSL, no matter how good the form

Just imagine, Akmal opening the innings, Quetta makes 200+ Akmal 100+*!

fakhar zaman 63 (35) i think it was best knock by Pakistani in this psl chasing 200+ which provided platform for ab n wiese.

Except for Akmal, the rest have been mediocre.

Zaman did play a good knock in that 200 chase, but not much else to talk about.

Nothing dynamic till now but Umer Siddiq atleast looks solid unlike many others.

akmal ha real chance of opening the inning for last psl.
he can be our rohait sharma considering his power hitting abilities

Just imagine, Akmal opening the innings, Quetta makes 200+ Akmal 100+*!

Umar started as an opener at U19 level, surprising that he hasnt been tried at opening slot at international level as technically he is pretty decent.

Opening the innings was a game changer for Rohit’s careet.

pakistani think tank isn't that smart enough to think of something like that..

we have the talent in the ranks but these people just do such a horrendous job at making the most of it.

Should be sent out to open at least once this season I reckon, because with the form he is in it is now or never to test him there.

Ahsan Ali has looked decent , I know Sohail Akhtar didn't score many runs but he had some nice cameos as well

no pakistani batsmen other than umar akmal have impressed

Name one Pakistani batsmen in the current PSL...

...that you'd pick in the next squad call-up?

I genuinely didn't find one player that I'd pick, and that says a lot about where we are as a batting nation.

I can pick 3-4 players that I can point at and say they have a bright future, but those players aren't batsmen.

Rauf
Musa
Hasnan
Umer Khan

Which Pakistani player will get century in PSL 4

So far in this PSL we have had 2 centuries one coming from colin Ingram and the other from Cameron deport with only 4 games left in the PSL can a Pakistani batsmen join the club, I feel the pitch in Karachi is the perfect place to do it , questions is who will it be , or will it happen that this PSL edition not a single Pakistani batsmen will get a century

I feel if someone is to get it from Pak it will be a opener

My gut feeling is telling me it will be babar Azam

What do you guys think

for that babar will need to play at least 14-15 overs out of the total 20 overs. Kami might do it again.

Kami will get a chance again as his team will play the winner of Karachi vs Islamabad , I feel if Karachi bat first than babar will have a good chance to hit it.

Watching today's game, I must say that its shocking to see how the Pakistani players in general struggle to clear the ropes. No real zing in their shots the way I see the overseas players clearing standard length balls out of the ground.

Faheem and co need to hit the gym much harder!

The stats are hardly earth-shattering if we were looking for some new T20 talent:

Top scorer Kamran Akmal with 357 in 13 innings
Then Imam-ul-Haq with 341 runs in 12 innings
Then Babar Azam with 335 runs in 11 innings

The next few are:

Ahmed Shehzad
Fakhar Zaman
Asif Ali
Umar Akmal
Shoaib Malik

Gym won't really make that much difference, what makes a little bit of difference is practicing hard in the nets. England hired a baseball coach to help with their power hitting and it made a difference. I wonder why doesn't the PCB think about this?

Good to see the likes of Zeeshan Ashraf, Haider Ali and Azam Khan having an impact this season.

Inzi not impressed by what he has seen so far in PSL

"I have not been impressed by the young [Pakistan] batsmen in the tournament so far. They have not been able to score big runs and take their team to victory"

“I have noticed that these players only try to go for the big shots, by clearing their front leg, rather than playing strokes towards different parts of the ground. They need to realise that it is also possible to score runs by playing proper shots.”

My Rankings Uptil now (Impact wise)

1. Azam Khan

2. Shan Masood

3. Kamran Akmal

4. Sarfraz Ahmed

5. Haider Ali

6. Babar Azam

7. Shadab Khan

8. Khushdil Shah

9. Zeeshan Ashraf

Hope to see Sharjeel, Ahsan, Saif, Faizan score big aswell.

I hope a Pakistani middle order batsman can play an innings Russouw played today

Highly unlikely looking at what we've got.

The mentality seems to be block or slog.

Dunno about you guys, but the Pakistani batsman Pak is producing so far, I have no hopes at all.

All the big runs are being scored mostly by overseas players.

Saif Badar , Iftikhar with new addition of Azam Khan are likely candidates, if any.

Haider is playing 1 down so maybe a big score in this PSL? Also Rizwan Hussain batted really well in middle order for CP in national T20 cup so if we he gets some oppurtunities. Though both are originally openers.

Highly unlikely matching Russouw’s knock or even coming close to it.

Shot selection, strike rotation, knowing which bowlers to attack and in which areas along with match awareness is something most Pak middle order batsmen lack which is the key in any such a knock, just as Ingram showed last year when he produced a match winning 100 in the middle order for KK.

I didn't include Haider Ali as he has been batting in top order.
Now Shadab wants to bat at 3/4 in an attempt of exposing business overs to better hitters so it's less likely Badar will get a game.
KK, OTOH, have limited Iftikhar to a finishers role.
So the most likely candidate, this season, is Azam Khan. Earlier today, he was sold by Ahsan Ali. Without Ahsan's innings today, Azam Khan could have done more damage.

Apart from Kami and Sharjeel. I don’t think any Pak player has scored a century. Not a good sign for the league

As if you selected many youngsters. Same old rubbish players are playing when you were chief selector.

Azam Khan is so over weight, not going to be successful in serious cricket.

Haider Ali is the only new batsman creating some excitement.

Unfortunate our future is very bleak. Apart from Babar we are lack of quality batsmen.

Wow, everyone is really being quite doom and gloom here. I don’t think we should take Inzi’s comments too much to heart. He is trying to instill good values in the youngsters with such statements. I am sure he is not really writing off the talent seen at the PSL. He is saying that their temperament is not good enough yet. On pure talent - Haider Ali; Azam Khan are decent prospects. But Haider and others like Zeeshan seem to not have the brains to block a good ball every now and then. Maybe they will find their brains eventually.

Good write up

I don't know why posters are complaining about Pakistani batsmen.

Lahore Qalandars has just given a chance to a 'young' and 'explosive' batsman Salman Butt, to play as their opener.

This guy looks like a real deal.

Foreigners batsmen dominating PSL, we will get spanked in the WC.

Our batting is minnow level in this format
