Pakistan faces a high-stakes series decider in the second Test against Bangladesh, entering the match with a 1-0 deficit after a disappointing loss in the series opener. To avoid a historic home series defeat and salvage crucial World Test Championship points, the equation for the hosts is clear: they must secure a victory to level the series at 1-1. A draw or another loss would hand Bangladesh their first-ever Test series win on Pakistani soil, making this a critical moment for the team’s pride and standings.

The narrative for the upcoming match centers on redemption and tactical adjustments, specifically regarding Pakistan's top-order batting and the balance of their bowling attack. Management must decide whether to persist with an all-pace strategy or introduce a specialist spinner to suit the Rawalpindi conditions. Meanwhile, a confident Bangladesh side aims to maintain their clinical momentum to clinch a landmark victory. Ultimately, while a win for Pakistan would only result in a drawn series rather than a trophy, it remains the only way to halt the visitors' surge and find rhythm in a challenging season

Who is going to take 20 wickets,

Drop Shaheen, Imam and riz for next game...

If we are expecting same kind of pitch.

Sylhet stadium is the most beautiful stadium in Bangladesh, our record is 2 wins and 3 loses here, we lost both test vs Zim in this stadium but defeated NZ

last test here was against ireland and both pace and spin got wickets here

The pitch should be similar to the one in the first Test match. This is the first Test pitch I've seen in Bangladesh. It's fantastic, perfect for Test cricket.

It was good for batsmen, fast bowlers, and spinners .

:kp

Sylhet : Weather forecast again appears to be dicey . Hopefully , the hosts prepare a dry turner , replace Eba-dot with a spinning all rounder [ primarily bowling all-rounder ] so as to avoid a dull draw .
Visitors can junk the 35 year old beauty Hassan for the takla don , get in Barbar for someone [ hopefully Shan gets overdosed on shan masala & has a bad tummy ] .
Would love to see a 300 over pitch - having said that , the 1st Test got over in 340 overs as the combined first innings lasted for 218 overs due to those chunks of grass .

Azan Awais
Shan Masood( he is going to play then take the resp at top)
Abdullah
Babar
Saud
Agha
Rizwan
Ammad Butt
Sajid (nauman was meh the whole test)
Abbas
Shaheen(as we really dont have any other options and i think he was better than nauman atleast)

Use saud and agha more. Shan should play fast maybe he ll score something.

Shaheen, Hasan, saud, Noman and Rizwan need to go

Khurram, Amad butt, Babar, Sajid khan and Ghori should replace them

Khurram for Shaheen

Rizwan was terrible behind the stumps which was his only saving grace. Ghori for him

Sorry forgot we have khurram.def he should play but he ll also not something out of this world i fear

Rizwan needs second game. He has been safe behind stumps always one bad game doesnt make him bad wkt atleast. There was variable bounc square of the wkt ig which affected fielders

Khurram might or might not set the world on fire but he’s a better red ball bowler than shaheen

Pakistan issue is very less number of Test cricket , Ideally you need to play 12 test matches a year. PCB need to organize more series.

Sylhet wicket offers more for pacers usually.

For Bangladesh 2nd test I would make few changes actually, I’d bring in Shoriful and change one of the opener, Shadman for Tanzid Hasan. bring Shoriful in instead of Ebadot who came back from injury and isnt upto it.

I hope Bangladesh beats them again so we can finally press the delete button on this team

They don;t deserve to be playing test cricket. They are an affront to this sport.

Revoke Pakistan's test status.

Bro we want to see pakistan get strong again just for god sake remove parchi non performers and back domestic talent and then see where we are

Sylhet tends to be pacer-friendly (far more than Mirpur).

I expect another pacer-dominated Test.

Just have to replace Ebadot and maybe the openers too. Rest should remain the same.

Rizwan has been out of form for a while. There is a reason why they say players have to be picked for recent form. Rizwan has had a woeful BBL, Bangladesh ODI Series, PSL and now the first test. More proactive selectors and captains would have dropped him.

I would make 3 changes... Imam, riz and shaheen out.... Babar, khurram and ghazi in... Shan should go open... fazal at 3... babar at 4...

Don't need shan but he is captain for now so have to bear this guy in the 11.

Pakistan and Bangladesh Test Series:

The Pakistan Test squad has arrived in Sylhet from Dhaka for the second Test match scheduled in Sylhet, with the team resting today and resuming practice tomorrow at 10 a.m.

After this test it will be 3 wins

Our team will make sure of it

Given the plethora of lefties, Sajid needs to play ahead of nomi

U can be sure Bangladesh will do anything but prepare a spin friendly turner.
Chances are very high it will be a green pacy wicket like Mirpur.

Fantastic wicket, Kudos to groundsman!

Second choice would be a flat highway.

sylhet usually have a sporting wicket, something for pacers and spinners as the test rolls on, early on good for batting

Doesn't look like there's a difference between rest and practice from the way it's going. There's a higher chance of finding these chachu's in a biryani corner shop than in the nets.

Only change i would make to this is to open with Abdullah instead of Shan. He is a natural opener and at least that way he won't have to come in at 3/1 and play under pressure, agree with the other changes. But don't think Rizwan and Shaheen will be so easily dislodged.

Shaheen 43 first class matches in 8 years: 5 per year

Shaheen has less first class experience then Abbas, Hasan ali, Khurram Shehzad and Amad butt

This is the first time in my life I think I saw that your team has better pacers than spinners.Matter of fact, your pace attack is better than alot of other countries - one being Pakistan. I always thought that Miraz guy would end up like Shakib after that series win he literally handed you guys vs us pretty much solo. Well, he is like the temu version of Shakib, lol. That is one player you guys will have a hard time filling the void.

Bangladesh can make it 4-0 against Pakistan

India already had 4-0 over Pakistan recently.

The captains Shan & Salman had the honors for this embarrassment.

But no problem , the former is English proficient & Salman has good intentions.

Shan already had the honors to get beaten left right and center.. nothing new

Hard to be a fan of this loser team. Will be rooting for Ban here so hoping Surgeon of PCB will resign and take his stupid appointments with him.

Who will play in England in 3 tests then?

Bazball 3.0 loading

Sylhet:

The national Test squad conducted an optional training session at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

The national Test players engaged in three hours of net practice.

They performed batting and bowling net practice under the coaches’ supervision.

Prior to the net practice, the players also took part in physical training and a fielding session.

Fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Abbas and Hasan Ali, along with Mohammad Noman, were given rest today.

The national squad will practice tomorrow afternoon from 2pm to 5pm.

A series of bad decisions and instability in PCB management led this team to this downfall where we are keep on losing to minnows without even a flare of embarassment on our cricketer's face.

Where is ultra aggressive aka yawning taptaaan cum coach

Pakistan should play Khurram and Sajid (in place of Hasan Ali and Noman).

Also, Fazal and Awais should play. That means Imam may have to sit out to make way for Babar.

The youngsters have done well, so let Babar earn his place , for bowling drop one of SSA or Hasan for Khurram

weather isnt looking good and sylhet do not have the super drainage system mirpur has

Shadman Islam is RULED OUT of the second Test due to injury ⚠️

Zakir Hasan replaces him 🔃

With PZ winning PSL title , Babar will be a front runner for Tests now and After they lose to Aus 3-0 then Shaheen to go home as well and Babar will be back as captain for ODIs too.

Pak winning and become better competing team would always be a distant dream , they can change captains , coaches, even the chairman but they will continue to rot at the bottom unless they put merit in selection and eradicate past glories + friendship quotas

Bit of a bad time for Pak cricket, especially the test team. Results reflect the talent we have. At least they look good on paper but not world class, far from it.

As for Bangladesh, apart from Nahid Rana and tbe odd spinner, there is nothing really to write home about.

Babar will probably come back into the line-up. Should be for Imam & bring in Sajid Khan for Nauman Ali. But I wouldn't be surprised if they bring in Khurram Shehzad for Hasan Ali & Amad Butt for potentially Saud Shakeel. Pakistan must take 20 wickets this match. The bowling at times has left all to be desired.

1. Azan Awais
2. Abdullah Fazal
3. Shan Masood (C)
4. Babar Azam
5. Agha Ali Salman
6. Mohammad Rizwan (WK)
7. Amad Butt
8. Sajid Khan
9. Shaheen Shah Afridi
10. Khurram Shehzad
11. Mohammad Abbas

Kamran Ghulam should have been given a longer rope in both tests and ODIs.
It's criminal how he was treated by Aqib. Dropped from ODI team and later squad for 2 bad innings.

Babar survives on the failures of others

Not on his own failures
Kamran ghullam failed in 2 matches on cobra pitches of westindies series and booted out....babar who was failing for last 3 years still playing....even rizwan looks like bradman in test cricket fir last 3 years in contrast to babar

Pakistan are likely to make two changes to their playing XI for the second and final Test of the series against Bangladesh at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

According to sources, top-order batter Babar Azam is expected to return to the side after missing the first Test due to a knee injury, replacing opening batter Imam-ul-Haq.

Imam struggled for runs in the series opener, scoring 45 off 72 deliveries, including six boundaries, in the first innings before managing just two runs in the second.

Pakistan are also expected to reshuffle their batting order. Captain Shan Masood is likely to open the innings alongside centurion Azan Awais, while Abdullah Fazal is set to bat at number three after scoring two half-centuries in the first Test. Babar is expected to take the number four position.

Meanwhile, sources also suggested a change in the bowling attack, with left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi likely to make way for fast bowler Khurram Shahzad.

Shaheen had a respectable outing in the first Test, claiming five wickets overall — three in the first innings and two in the second.

Middle-order batter Saud Shakeel and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan are, however, expected to retain their places despite disappointing performances in the opening Test.

The final playing XI is expected to be confirmed closer to the start of the match.

For the unversed, Bangladesh created history by defeating Pakistan by 104 runs in the first Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, registering their first-ever home Test victory over Pakistan.

Chasing a target of 268, Pakistan were well placed at 119/3 with debutant Abdullah Fazal and experienced all-rounder Salman Ali Agha at the crease.

However, Fazal’s dismissal in the 32nd over triggered a collapse as Pakistan lost six wickets for 44 runs in 21 overs before being bowled out for 163.

Earlier, Bangladesh posted 413 in their first innings, powered by a century from captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and 91 from Mominul Haque.

Pakistan responded with 386, thanks to a debut hundred from Azan Awais and valuable contributions from Abdullah Fazal and Mohammad Rizwan.

The victory lifted Bangladesh to sixth in the ICC World Test Championship standings with 16 points and a win percentage of 44.44 after three matches.

Pakistan, meanwhile, slipped to seventh with 12 points and a win percentage of 33.33 after winning one and losing two of their three matches.

Noman Ali should also be benched for Sajid

Drop Imam, Saud, Rizwan, Shaheen. Abbas we can replace with a proper spinner.

Do not bring Babar back.

Do that and move forward, win, lose or draw

Wicket might be flat, so Bangladesh can have a series win, even in 1st Test it looked draw for 4.75 days until Pakistan completely gave it up.

What is the reason to drop Abbas?
Too slow - yes I know “pace not everything” but there are minimum standards - there are kids 13-15 year olds bowling faster than him. It’s an embarrassment. If we want to play another spinner, play a proper one. No half measures.

Agree.

120 KMH is too slow. Minimum should be 130 KMH.

Pakistan have lost eight WTC points and 40% of their match fee for keeping a slow over-rate in their loss to Bangladesh in the first Test in Dhaka.

The visitors were found to be eight overs short of the target.
