What's new

|Pakistan U-19s v Windies U-19s|5th Place Play-off Semi-Final|Townsville|22/08/12|

i hope babar azam plays domestic cricket for a year and gets some experiance before he is chosen!

just cause someone has talent you cant just expect them to perform at the international level!

need to be groomed properly

Good going by these 2, Nawaz once again delivering in a pressure situation. :14:

But it's still honours even. The danger-man Davis still has 2 more overs left, and even if 1 more wicket falls (especially if it's Nawaz), then we might still lose.

Fingers crossed.

samiis only 16! he is 3 years behind babar aslam, best thing for him will be too start playing domestic cricket untill next u19 world cup and then we can judge if there is any improvement

jones was causing main problems why did nawaz just not play out his remaining overs?

seems like lost to india has shattered the boys confidence

Pathetic batting in the last two matches , some things never change. It is Pakistan batting.

20 required off the last two over. Remember NZ scored 18 off the final over to beat the Windies last game, but with the tail enders at the crease, that is a tall ask now.

All over very very disappointing effort from Pakistan Team , this was one of the better teams.

Pakistan will play Bangladesh for 7th spot, while the Windies take on England for the 5th spot. Both games on Friday.

This is sad ... this team was supposed to contend for the title and they will not even make the top 6.

Haroon called this the most talented U19 he has worked with yet results are opposite... worst WC performance by a Pakistani U19 team in last 10 years.

Winning breeds confidence and losing does the opposite. I sense the last loss to India is still hurting. We only lost that game by the narrowest of margins and had we, we may have been looking at another WC final. Smallest moments can change the tournament results.

What a disappointment! We were talking about lifting the trophy and here we lose to India and Windies, but this is a wake-up call for both the players and management who I think were too over-confidient.

The biggest failure was Sami Aslam, apart from a score against a minnow he flopped and when you don't get good start you hardly put a good score on the board.

Anyways some of these guys can still play in the next wc so this experience will help them.

I agree although I think Pak team got too over confident for their own good (had very successful last year) and that hurt them here.

Aslam who could not do any wrong a month ago had a terrible tour.

Some blame goes to the coach/manager for the horrible decision to bat first against India. On the pitch report there was mention that it rained for a couple of hours and they even showed some moisture by hand on the field(not pitch). Indian bowlers took advantage of that and had Pak bowled they would have been even more successful than Indian pacers. Just a disappointing end for us.

Disappointing stuff from our Young team.. Expected a lot higher from them.. A loss against India have made their confidence go down.. Poor batting display once agian.. now, only I can Pray for a better game in their future matches..good luck young Gunz...

Feel bad for Sami Aslam, lost his form at a bad time. I'm sure he'll bounce back but he has to be extremely disappointed after having such a good U19 Asia Cup.

Unlucky boiz shouldn't forget in the end they're all kids, 16-19 year olds shouldn't be criticised unless it's constructive.

Why was Inzi as selector allowed to select his relative?

Like i said before this Pakistan side was nowhere near as good in the batting department as previous under 19 sides.

I think there was too much pressure on Sami Aslam before the tournament started. I reckon every one hyped him up way too much when we was mostly playing on flat tracks with minimal swing.

When Sami got to Australia he had to play the swing and bounce and he just totally failed. He had a lot of pressure on him to deliver also and we must remember he's only 16 years of age.

Its a disappointing tournament for the boys and I am still so upset and angry after losing to India that I didn't even follow this game but it happens in cricket and we have to move on.

I feel your disappointments. Its amazing how things can change, Pakistan were on top in last 6-8 overs of the QF match against su when we had lost 9 wickets and were still 13 runs away from victory. You could have easily won had our tail enders made one mistake and then you would have been looking at another world cup final as Genghis said. But we held on to win that one and it dented your team's confidence so much that you lost another one. It is to be noted here that even West Indies had an equally heart breaking match in QF where NZ made 18 in last over to win. But WI's showed strength of character against Pakistan while Pak players didn't. Your team had the skills but weren't mentally tough enough. The difference in all under 19 teams is still minute and anyway at this level, results matters less. It's all about improvements and there are a few players in Pak U-19 who can be turned into Int quality players.

Zia ul Haq... The best talent to come out of this series. Pak fans should not worry.

U19 WI is a strong bowling team! Lots of youngsters I see in WI team very soon. It was never going to easy to chase this down.
