Pakistan 319 ahead, how much more time they need to post a comfortable target? Would there be enough time TO bowl NZ out?

We need action replay of day 4 of previous test. But this time target of 500 but in similar over 138 or so. For that get 100 run in first session, and 80 runs after lunch in 12 or so overs! Very easy to do with all wickets in hands.

Pak should go with this approach "at max. We will bat just 40 or so overs so no point in keeping wicket and playing extra carefully just get as many runs as we can, even at cost of 5 or 6 wickets because wickets don't really matter at all"

500 is another two sessions, hopefully we can tie them down and get them batting deep into the third.

Hafeez said, we need 160 more , that means a target of 480.

160 in 40 overs is definitely possible.

Not much activity on PP, and especially where is Aman Or he has already given up and left PP until NZ win a match on this tour.

Younis Khan is just a few runs from going ahead of KP on the all-time scorers list, which could happen today. Crazy that he'll have done it having played far fewer matches than Pietersen, despite having been playing Test cricket for 5 years longer than Pietersen did."

cricinfo.

hafeez is turning it on. azhar needs to get to the party and :four hafeez smashes sodhis full toss

Nice shots! But I have a bad feeling that Hafeez is about to get out. Wont be the worst thing in the world with Younis or Misbah coming in.

Hafeez is an attacking batsman. If he's going to play Tests, give him the license to play the Warner role. Shehzad has the temparament to stay at the wicket and Hafeez should be the one going after the bowling.

He won't bat for the whole day and score a hundred at a 50 SR, but he can get you an 70-80 at a 70 SR and this is how he should be utilized if he's to play this format.

As an Opener?

Need to give ourselves atleast 135 overs in my opinion for that we can bat 25-30 overs, should go for all out attack

I hope they send Shafiq or Sarfraz. Neither have gotten much of a chance in the last few games.

In Asian tests against Non-Asian teams he should play and there is no where else to slot him other than opener

In Away tests and Asian tests against Asian teams Hafeez should not play

That would be the most sensible thing. But I doubt it'll happen because of Hafeez's 'seniority'. Ideally outside Asia, Hafeez should be benched for a pacer who can bat. Only play one spinner, 3 pacers + 1 pace AR.

Selfish cricket in my opinion, both Asad/Sarfraz haven't got a chance at all after the first innings of the first Test vs Australia and they scored an 80 and a 100 respectively.

Should have given one of them a go. Younis gains nothing by batting here.

Edged no slip. seriously why is there no slip, its a freaking test and you are bowling to a guy that edges!

Doesn't look comfortable vs spin at all but yes he has been excellent these days.

Aussie spinner didn't trouble him much, Sodhi has troubled him a little bit..

Pakistanis tend to make average leg spinners look world class

Maybe be looking to get a fastest ton :13:

Agree,

Was perfect time to send Sarfraz and should have given him liscense to go Bang

but younis is not captain:facepalm:

he was awful against Tahir, Herath, and even against Panyangara, and Co

Panyangara is not a spinner...

Yes he had his issues against spin, but in these 3 tests he looks to have iron out few flaws

e-g he has been effective with sweep, and use of the feet which wasn't visible before

:hafeez2 is a Bangladesh standard Test cricketer. He'd be a real asset for them.

Not worried about the RR as long as Hafeez is at the crease and Misbah will be up for it as well.

Younis should play attacking cricket here

Younus ahead of Peterson now (in 10 less tests)

Yes I know Panyangara isn't a spinner. I meant he has problems even with decent pace bowlers and not spinners alone.

Australia and Newzeland doesn't have a decent spinner to counter this flat track, so obviously anyone can have effective sweep against these lots. On a better track or against better spin bowlers he won't definitely last long. maybe be could battle till a maximum of 40 odd runs.

He has hundreds against Srilanka and England (Herath, Swann and Monty)

It's not like he is completely clueless against spin

He certainly has improved his game against spin which is evident
