There's still 40 minutes to go for the match.

Over the last few years Bangladesh have proven themselves capable of regular upsets of the big teams, so Pakistan need to take this match seriously.

Will there be changes or will we go in with the same XI? I'd like to see Fawad Alam get a game but it looks like the team management want to keep the same XI together for the rest of the tournament.

Bangladesh need Ahmed and Ashraful to fire in a big way for them to leave the tournament with two big scalps under their belts.

This could be a cracking match if Bangladesh come to the party.

This is Pakistan's first match at Cape Town. I think it was also Sri Lanka's first match too today. The top seed of the group plays the semi-final here in day time

yar the pitch looks very very slow and with uneven bounce

saw the SL batting just ball wasn't coming on to bat

what you guys think

Pakistan are through to the semi-finals but will want to use this match to give their top-order batsmen, and Shahid Afridi, some quality time at the crease. Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be heading home so lets hope they leave South Africa after one last free-spirited batting display. (cricinfo)

Pakistan win the toss and choose to bowl first. I think they should've batted first to get batting practise for Afridi, Akmal and the top 3

Are they seriously stupid? Why play Butt and Nazir? and why bowl first?

Not sure about Malik's decision - but he's in Cape Town and he knows best!

Pakistan: Imran Nazir, Mohammad Hafeez, Salman Butt, Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik (capt), Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal (wk), Misbah-ul-Haq, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Gul, Mohammad Asif.

Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Junaid Siddique , Aftab Ahmed, Mohammad Ashraful (capt), Shakib Al Hasan, Nadif Chowdhury, Mahmudullah, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Abdur Razzak, Syed Rasel.

they seriously need to give afridi batting practise this tournament

he will come into bat in the semi's for sure cos it wont be easy wins like it has been so far

Pakistan team is unchanged (What a shame!)
...if ain't broke, don't fix it!! I like it!!!
...Whoever made the decision to keep the same team....needs to be applauded - Malik, Lawason or Talat!!! :14:

What if they played Abdur Rahman or Fawad...they perform well in the match.....then do to keep them for semi or drop them??

Also.....Butt or Nazir are DUE for a big inning and I am sure one of them will get - if not both!!

most probably to do with the aussie demolition just a few hours before

Important to keep the winning streak going here. Dont want any complacency. Get the job done and prepare for the semi final.

I'm still not happy with the opening combination though.

Good start by Geo - they missed the 1st ball of the match.

because the chances of a good old fashion collapse while batting first are quite high..

Malik P'd off!

Good start by Tanvir - 2 play and misses by BD

Free Hit is a OVER THE HEAD BEAMER!

No Ball called - and ANOTHER FREE HIT

A very sloppy start by Pakistan. I hope they tighten up and raise their game

Followed up with a peach of a ball - another play & miss

14-0 off 1.4

Thoughts of the 9,000000000000000 rupees bonus getting to the Pak players

LBW appeal - hitting outside off.

Mixed over. Some good stuff in amongst some real dross.

14-0 off 2overs

Asif starts with a wide.

Come On! Body language seems poor.

Are we not taking the BD's seriously?

Hey, if you got $10,000 in your hand - maybe you dont need to take 'dead' game seriously

Asif doesnt look like he wants to be there, perhaps we should have rested him

Looking a bit sloppy in the field - not taking the ball cleanly.

2 runs off another wide ball.

16-0 off 2.4

Asif looking like he wants to be out spending that $10,000

LoLz or he probably wanted to rest today

Asif isn't even trying, whats the point in playing him? Better to give Rao a chance incase of injuries. Touch wood.

this is turning out to be a damp squib...

asif might as well start bowling off-spin. He's not even trying- shades of razzi

Asif's body language is appaling - if he doesnt want to be playing, he should withdraw from the game!!!

There are days when I want a rest from work, but I still have to go in :D

speaking of cash. No money should have been handed out to the players until the end of the tourny.

pakistan just dont seem interested today, i know this is a dead rubber but thats no excuse for losing their focus & intensity

3.3 Sohail Tanvir to Junaid Siddique, 2 runs, Tanivir bowls a full ball on leg stump, Junaid moves towards the off and flicks towards fine leg where Nazir runs to his left and stops the ball with his boot

I seriously dont like this stopping with boot stuff

Shocking bowling from Asif!

2 succesive boundaries.

BD race to 36-1
