ONE-DAY INTERNATIONAL, LORD'S:
England v Pakistan

The weather at Lord's is threatening to delay the start of the second one-day match between England and Pakistan.

A fine drizzle was falling 45 minutes before the scheduled start time and the teams have yet to be confirmed.

Rain prevented a result in the opening game of the best of five series at Cardiff and it looks like the players are in for another frustrating day.

Batsman Kevin Pietersen, meanwhile, has urged England to be more "ruthless" and "clinical" in their approach.

LATEST ACTION (all times BST)

Play due to start 1015.

0930 "There's a fine drizzle here...I'd be surprised if we see more than an hour or two's play today. It is expected to become finer later this afternoon but by then it might be too late." Pat Murphy, BBC Five Live

Pat Murphy is thick, watch out when we see a good amount of cricket today, he obviously doesn know his weather
it will clear up soon

what were you saying?

:))) Well done Zahir. Merrrrrrrrkeed as people say......

Cricinfo not too hopeful it seems. Is the weather really bad? Any chance of play today?

A lot of cloud cover so I think that the rain will be constantly starting and stopping.

Start delayed by rain.

1000: Drizzle. That's the one-word summary of the action at Lord's this morning. The stands are pretty empty, the umpires are wandering around under large umbrellas and the only sign of the players is the occasional glimpse of someone on a balcony, staring up morosely at the clouds.

We will be lucky to even have a Ten10 over match today if the weather continues like this. What luck!

Pitch is completely green, so we gotta bowl first. If we don't bowl first, we'll collapse easily on this pitch

That means no batting again :(

Most probably yes. They should start the match as soon as possible. Dunno why it is taking so much time

heya fellas, lets hope we get a full match at least even if overs are reduced!!

The forecast is awful for the rest of the day. The cut-off point is 3.52pm according to TMS, if there is no sustained play by then, then the match is abandoned.

Hasn't been done yet. Or as Henry Blofeld so elegantly put it 'we haven't even tossed yet!'

Lewis in for Mahmood for swinging in overcast conditions.
Inzy thanks God for having such a strong team that he doesnt need to make a change.

Strauss : Inzy's calling is very good right now :)))

We have all basis covered now!

Very good decision by Inzamam to bowl first!

ZMario I love your choice of venue.
What made u choose to reside there and hows the dinner table conversation.

Botham doesnt say anything we wouldnt already expect in pitch report. Green on pitch. Apparently VERY much like the C&G trophy which was a low scoring game.

Assuming there is actually a match, we need a good start. If you are put in and can make around 200 on a green top, it is very possible to defend that score, as shown in the C&G. If we slip to the usual 10-3 rubbish with Strauss, Trescothick and Pietersen out early, expect a Pakistan romp...

Good, I want Strauss, Bell, and Pietersen out.

Trescothick is already a given wicket for us :D

Tresco has been pretty good in the LOIs this summer, both 50 and 20 over games. He has got a couple of tons and usually given the team something to build on (which they fail to do :p ). He is going to be a different animal in this series I hope, as for the test form it is woeful at the moment, he looks even more of a lost cause than he did in the West Indies in 2004, and that was REALLY bad.

lol the sky commentator goes it going to start in 5 mins and jst as he said then i saw covers going on lol then the advert came on

To me, Trescothicks been a walking wicket all series, Tests and ODIs, but he played quite well in the Twenty20 match, getting a 50, but still looks like he has no clue whats going out in the middle

Raining again or what?

Only 6 of the England batsman can actually bat - the other 5 are bowlers I think Rikki Clarke is a bowler, right?!

2 minutes to go, Shoaibi to start. Hope we can get a full match in, weather it is 15 or 20 overs or anything.

Yup rain again. My fault for the last post. STUPID STUPID weather.

Rain has picked up a bit.
Players are OFF the field.
Seriously London is the most depressing city in the world.

I hate this so much. Frustrating as hell. Something should be done to counter this. You just cant keep on cancelling on 2-3 ODIs because of nature

No.

He's a batting allrounder.

I'm not bothered - I didnt fancy doing a match report today!

Also, for those that whinged about Cardiff being wet - should we take Lords off the the rota?

At least we had 57 overs!!!

Usman, no offense yaar, but your quoting of Moiez's pictures slows down the site.
