India has given Pakistan a target of 309.

Pakistan's batting is not terribly out of form and the pitch is as flat as it can be so it should be an interesting chase.

Personally I would take a gamble and send Lala Sahibzada to open with Nasir Jamshed. If these two can provide a start similar to what Ghanbir & Sehwag did then we have a decent chance of winning it.

Its now or never !

NEVER... when did Afridi last open? i doubt it

if anything i think Misbah should push himself UP the order

If Afridi and Butt were to open then where would Nasir Jamshed come in at? I really hope Jamshed opens! Well Afridi will work, but he can very well be a walking wicket! Hope he fires today!

We all know that Afridi is not going to regain his form at 7 or 8, when he is forced to hit sixes from the very first ball.

But when will our team learn...

Yaa, Misbah at 3, Afridi at 7, AFTER Sarfraz.

Pakistan need a goos solid start and score at a good rate. Afridi must be pushed up the order, at number 7-8 he's usless and will get out.

damn it, we needed at least 25 more runs on this type of pitches, with and inexperienced bowling line up in the subcontinental pitches.

haha okay yeah :p afridi SHOULD open, but he cant, because Nasir Jamshed is a specialist.

Good LUCK TO PAKISTAN!

Don't we need to win by a good margin, I mean in terms of wicket in this situation, in order to still have a chance, I really hope everything comes good for the team, I am behind yall 110%! GOO PAKISTAN, we shall keep our 300+ chase record vs. India!!!

the heat toll on Dhoni might have coasted a 15 runs at least. but that gives a 50-50 chances for both the sides, would be an interesting chase.

Well its do or die situation for Pakistan and we know what happened the last time when we tried to consolidate first and attack in the end.

Afridi would not do anything much if he comes late in the order and that will hurt Pakistan, why not take a gamble and send him up the order. If he fails he would be dropped anyway so let him provide the best chance and if he get going then the match is in the bag.

We need to get these runs in about 45 overs ideally to knock some of that NRR advantage off for India.

So I say we take a gamble and send Afridi at 4. If he fails and we lose well we are going out anyway. So just take the chance and send him up.

how long is the innings break?

I hope the heat hasn't taken that much of a toll on our batsmen!

Hash, if they try that appraoch, they will more likley lose. Better to just try for a win and if they get to a decent position after 35 overs, go for the big win. Else try against Bangla with nothing to lose

Atleast 90 in first 15. 120 in 20 (no matter how many wickets fall)
(wickets to come is a nice little theroretical idea but if you dont score upfront, you lose them in any case)

We need to get these runs in 40-42 overs.
Gamble and open with Nasir and Afridi.

True Indiafan but it's do or die time. We are behind on NRR and the only way we are going to give ourselves a chance of surpassing India is if we get these runs as quickly as possible.

I'd rather lose trying than we scrape to victory with 1 ball to spare and not make any inroads on the NRR.

We need these runs in 40 overs to close in on the RR.

no gamble and open up with Younis and Yousuf :D
:)))
Yousuf is sure to better Gavaskar's 36 n.o. in 60 overs chasing a score above 300!

Poor score by India.

309 should not be tough for Pakistan to chase down !!

i agree, however it depends if we do chase it down, how quickly we can chase it because we need to be ahead of india in that run rate thing! :butt

40 is pushing it. We don't need to do it that quickly....45 will be fine. We can save the abliteration for Bangladesh.

This is all assuming Sri Lanka win tomorrow ofcourse.

we cant bash any minnow team man!

Innings has started. Butt and Nasir are opening.

Swinging to the legs

ball started to swing has it?

wot happened to the reverse swing, died out??

Pakistan has to beat India in @ 34 overs to make their R/R better than India..... ............ but it is not required because Pak play BD (a huge chance to improve R/R) and Ind plays SL next. Pak should beat India in and around 42-43 over and then hope for a huge win vs BD.

Irfan Pathan is only 21???

Wow, he surely looks much older....

Wasim on air said that he was only 21 :p

He was corrected by his fellow commentator

Butt saaab is talking alot to himself these days, when he's at the crease

Lets hope he is not run-out, or get is partner run-out.....

butt didn't get out first ball!!!!!!!!!!!! it's a miracle :O :O
You should look at his record against India :) quite impressive :)

He has these days when he either looks a world-class player, and at time he looks like a lassi maker...

It's very unlikely that Pak will successfully chase this target of 308. You need at least one Inzamam and two Misbahs to chase this huge target, and unfortunately Pak has only one Misbah.

Seriously, they should also look for singles!

Talking about these kind of things is Lawson's job. I hope he does tell them about this...

Don't speak too soon. 47 overs still to go!

23-0. Need to get a couple more runs to keep the rate of 6 an over needed.

Jamshed has put on quite some pounds after the last time we saw him agains BAN, didnt he?

if this partnership sticks for more than around 50 runs, we should then send Afridi! otherwise stick to whatever plan!

Akram is one of the few commentators who says something about bowling....

If a rubbish delivery has been hit for 4, 95% of the commentators say: "what a nice shot"
Akram says: "short and wide, bad delivery, and it has been put away"
