Looks like my suspicion was correct.

Looks like the format of the show has been around for a while. It would be hypocritical to say that someone else stole this idea from the Indians given that Indians didn't invent the format in the first place.

THis is the sad reality. Nowadays people will watch anything that sparks controversial stuff even though it is all staged. Not a show that you would like your children to watch. Pathetic I would say the least.

No one watched Big Brother in the UK any more. The reality shows in the UK have moved on a lot, the most popular ones are dating shows or scandal led stuff about pregnant teenagers or weirdo stalkers and such. I am guessing most of that stuff would be heavily censored in Pakistan, no idea about India.

But it did exist and started in UK and USA, so there was demand. Obviously as you move forward new kinds of reality shows are preferred.

Such shows will always have demand. They are stupid shows, but it sells.

I agree, there is always a demand for specific types of entertainment, this is what has led to the rise of Netflix, Disney+ and Prime TV. Everyone can find their own niche. It's actually one of the biggest drivers for western economies, UK entertainment punches far above it's weight, although it obviously pales in comparison to US product.

That actually makes sense in terms of how human psychology works.

Just because you bash it, doesn't mean you'll avoid it. People often create para social relationships in various ways with the artists and get engaged even if they consider the show as low IQ.
