I've had enough of the Aussie / English soap threads; or the movies you saw - want to see - havent seen - wish you had seen threads.

Saw what are we watching at the moment? Or have we given up on them?

Or are you grateful for the 'retro Pak channels' that are giving us a chance to watch the classics again (or for first time perhaps?)

What's you take on the way Dramas are like today? Love them? - Why? or Hate them???

To avoid a 'duck' thread...

I rely on Geo, Prime TV and PTV Global for my Dramas.

Must admit the classics on PTV Global are great - SHEER QUALITY. They've stood the test of time well - in fact they are unmatchable in comparison to whats out there today.

In terms of todays selection - I'm not impressed (but more of that later).

These days, I'm watching 'Tum Mere Ho' on Prime TV (Mon-Wed: 11-11.30pm)

I can't stand almost all new dramas. all these "Tere Pehloo Main", "Mehndi Walay Hath", "Mehndi" etc are awful. the "actors" clearly have never even made a public speech before. hence, they can't even deliver one line with the appropriate delivery, facial expressions, body language etc. all I see are blank faces, loud music, garish makeup, unrealistic clothes, retarded and unrealistic dialogue. they have an uncle or two in the business who got them on TV so it becomes easier for them to get a rishta down the road. incompetent idiots.

of the new generation, I can only tolerate Mehreen Jabbar's work. Kamran Qureshi's work isn't totally disgusting but that is all I can give him.

Yasir Nawaz is capable of doing good work too. he did "Cocktail" a sitcomish drama with himself, Faisal Qureshi and Rehan Sheikh which I thought was the best TV comedy I've seen in a long time.

Cocktail was good - but I guess it got lucky. Many similar ones appeared (on all the networks), because when one does it, they all follow suit (usually using the same cast in some cases)

I have MANY MANY gripes - which I will focus on later (to extend this thread!)

One issue I have is the addition of 'tension / dramatic' sound & video effects' - its Bollywood unfortunately - and its uneccesary.

May post a sample later on to demonstrate what I mean.

Once i saw a part of a pakistani drama called kawal or some thing like that ,my pakistani friend rented it .It was few years back. Gosh ,it was horrible .

I can't remeber the last time I watched a pakistani drama and I live in Pakistan. These days tragedy looks like comedy and comedy looks like tragedy in our dramas.

I only watch PTV dramas, drams I am watching now a days are

Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Milay - Written by "Hseena Moin"
Ladla
and sometime "Kath Putli" as well

Think PTV global also showing these dramas.
And PTV Gobal are showing classic dramas "Shehzori, Waris & Jhoot Ki Aadat Nahi mujay(a must watch, Ismail Shahid is fantastic in this comedy)

I have grown up watching PTV dramas, and quality of dram been exceelent over the years. I don't like lots of make up with too much lights and private channels setting of homes are really horribles.

serch for "Alpha Bravo Charlie" if u haven't seen it on youtube, it's fantastic Pak Army drama directed by Shoaib Mansoor

yaar the one with Rubina Ashraf and her chubby assistant IIRC Nauman Ijaz was one of the actors too

relly don't remeber that one.
Remeber's Nauman Ijaz's drama "Nijat" against Atteqa Odho that was one great drama.
Another drama "Kasak" which had Sania Saaed against Junnon's Salman Ahmad where they had like 3-4 daughters was good one too

PTV over the years have produced magnificent dramas and they know how to handle actors as per their role demands. there will not much glamour in PTV dramas but u will stick to it till end.

Saw a long play a month ago of Firdaus Jamal (another gr8 actor) where his wife died and and he miss her alot. and even drama was in one home with 4-5 chracters but it was still worth watching.

that is such a great way of putting it. these days when I'm watching a "comedy", I can't even manage a smile 'cause the lines are so predictable and retarded. but when I see a "tragedy", the terrible acting, writing, makeup, clothes just make me laugh. you have to wonder if monkeys are making dramas nowadays.

it is obvious that 90% of the "actors" on TV are just amateurs who've not even done college level theatre before. their facial expressions are not in sync with what's coming out of their mouths.

can't stand today's comedy, it's jsut horrible. all actors acts like "kids", it's better to watch kids stage show on some meena bazar than watching today comedy.

'Dhuaan' was great. loved the ending.

'Alpha Bravo Charlie', saw it on cable drama channel and it was awesome.

if u like comedy.. just watch 'Aangan Terha'. saw it a year back and it was just amazing. anwar maqsood is a legend.

Also anybody remember 'Ainak Wala Jinn'? used to love it in my early school days.

I cant remember the name of a drama in which Ali Haider acted for the first time, liked that aswell.

Used to like alot of eid day special dramas/sitcoms aswell.

Aangan Tehrra is class, PTV global was showing it few weeks back, but suddenly they stopped it.
Watch "johhot ki aadat nahi mujay" on PTV Global, it's fantastic conmedy, will b on air on Tuesday night around 8:30pm Pak time.

I agree, I haven't seen a comedy show better than that. Does anyone have a link to this show I haven't been able to find that show anywhere on the internet

I have been watching Jhok Sarkar on Hum TV. It's a fabulous drama serial about the tribal stronghold and lawlessness of a town situated in the vicinity of Multan and Shorkot.
