Minorities panel condemns killing of 11 Hindus in India

ISLAMABAD: The National Minorities Commission (NMC) has condemned the recent killing of 11 Hindus in Jodhpur district of the Indian state of Rajasthan.

Presiding over the NMC’s second meeting in the ministry of religious affairs on Monday, chairman of the commission Cheela Ram Kewalani condemned the killing of Hindus who had migrated from Pakistan to India some eight years ago.

He said the commission also expressed concern over the atrocities committed by the Modi government against the religious minorities in India, especially the innocent Muslims in occupied Kashmir.

Mr Kewalani said India, which claims to be the largest democracy in the world, should show humane attitude towards minorities.

He said: “The oppressed Kashmiris are our brothers and we will continue to oppose abrogation of special status of occupied Kashmir by India on Aug 5 last year.”

The commission condemned illegal detention of Kashmiris in the occupied valley for the past one year.

The commission offered condolences to the Sikh community on the loss of lives in a recent train accident.

NMC member Dr Mimpal Singh thanked the government and the Pakistan Army for providing full assistance to the victims of the accident. He said like other minorities in India, members of the Sikh community were also in serious stress because of state-sponsored security threats.

Dr Singh said along with the independence movement of Kashmiris “the struggle of Sikhs for setting up the state of Khalistan is also inevitable”. The meeting was informed that work on the National Minorities Commission Bill and the Interfaith Harmony Policy was in progress.

Bheel woman demands forensic probe into death of 11 family members in India

HYDERABAD: A Bheel woman has appealed to the Pakistan government and International Court of Justice (ICJ) to ensure forensic investigation into the mysterious death of her 11 family members in Jodhpur, India, previous month.

She believed that Indian agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) had her father and other family members killed through the goons of Rashtriya Swaya*msevak Sangh (RSS) after it failed to convince him to act as a spy against Pakistan.

When her father decided to return to Pakistan secretly with his family to expose RAW, the entire family was killed to protect the agency, she said.

Shrimati Mukhi, wife of Bhontrio Bheel, was speaking at a press conference and text of her statement was read out by Amarshi Thakur, a rights activist, at the local press club on Sunday.

She said her father along with other members had gone to India in 2012 and started living in the Indian state of Rajasthan where they were trapped by the India intelligence agency. They were given various favours for making anti-Pakistan statements, she added.

She said they were killed on Aug 9, 2020, because the Indian government failed to achieve its nefarious designs.

She said her father Budha Bheel, mother Antari Bheel, brother Reevo, sisters Laxmi and Piyari, and their five children had gone to India for performing their religious rituals, but RAW trapped them and provided a residence in Jodhpur.

She said that on Aug 9, she received news that her father and 10 members of her family were killed mysteriously.

Ms Mukhi claimed that she had learnt through credible sources that the Indian agency wanted to use her father as spy against Pakistan, but failed to convince him.

She said Indian police had described the death of her family members as suicide. She said that RSS goons and Bharatia Janata Party (BJP) activists were giving life threats to her relatives in India in a bid to stop them from leaking anything to media. The woman alleged that she and her husband also received such threats in Pakistan.

She said that Indian state institutions had been levelling baseless allegations against Pakistan and they also got issued statements that Hindus and their children were facing injustices and forced conversions were taking place in Pakistan.

She said it was also claimed that Hindus were treated as third class citizens in Pakistan so that they could be given Indian citizenship. She said that all those claims were false because all the excesses and injustices were committed in India while Kashmiris were not given their due rights and people were killed for not raising voice for India and Hindu religion.

Rejecting the inquiry made by Indian police, she appealed to the Pakistan government and ICJ to provide her justice and hold forensic investigation into the Aug 9 incident.

Ms Mukhi said that the United Nations and Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) should take notice of the atrocities committed against the people of India held Kashmir.

This is RAW?

Quite sad that low castes are treated in such a way that they are having to appeal to Pakistan and the ICJ!

Sad news. The government of Pakistan should ensure that Pakistani Hindus who have went to India, are aware that they can come back if they want.

FO summons Indian envoy over 'mysterious' deaths of 11 Pakistani Hindus in Jodhpur

Pakistan on Monday summoned the Indian chargé d'affaires to convey its serious concern over the deaths of 11 Pakistani Hindus, whose bodies were found in "mysterious" circumstances in a village field in India's Rajasthan state last month.

On August 9, the bodies of 11 people including children from a single family, who had migrated to India from Pakistan, were found in a field in Jodhpur district. According to reports, only one member of the family, which belonged to the Bheel community, now remains.

The Indian envoy was told that "despite repeated requests by the High Commission for Pakistan in New Delhi for details regarding the tragic incident, the Indian government continues to evade the issue, has disclosed only scant information about the case, and has failed to share any substantive details regarding the cause and circumstances of the deaths", the Foreign Office spokesperson said in a statement.

The press release noted that a daughter of the deceased head of the family, Shrimati Mukhi, had made "highly concerning statements, implicating the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) in the murder of her father, mother and other family members, allegedly after [RAW] failed to convince them to spy on Pakistan and issue anti-Pakistan statements".

The envoy was told that it was of "utmost importance" for the Indian government to be fully transparent about the incident in the interest of justice to the family and also to "ensure the safety and security of other Pakistani nationals in India".

"It was emphasised that since the victims of 'Jodhpur incident' were Pakistani nationals, it was incumbent upon the Government of Pakistan to be fully aware of the circumstances under which its nationals died in India," the FO said.

It urged India to carry out a "comprehensive investigation" into the matter and provide access to the Pakistan High Commission to the surviving member of the family. New Delhi was also requested to share copies of the first information report and the initial investigation report and facilitate the presence of the Pakistani high commission's representatives during the post-mortem of the deceased family members "without further delay".

Initial reports had said traces of insecticide were found at the scene where the bodies were discovered.

A preliminary police investigation suggested that the incident may have been the result of a family dispute, a BBC Urdu report said at the time.

Locals had alerted officials after finding the bodies. The deceased had come to India some eight years ago.

According to police, the family had rented a piece of land and used to cultivate it to earn a living. It said 37-year-old Kewal Ram was the only surviving member of the family in India and was being questioned by the police.

The deceased included his parents, brother, three sisters, daughter and two sons, and 75-year-old Budha Ram, the head of the family.

Any comments from the indian government?

They are busy with deciding which new apps to ban next. Who cares about failing economy, growing unemployment, high suspected deaths in hospitals(false covid), and communal riots. So, you see for our prestige govt missing few Pakistani citizens aren’t exactly on their agenda.

(Poor souls may find RIP)

Must be dalits. There was so much protest from indian psuedo intellectuals in giving them fast track citizenship.

Pakistan Hindu Council chief Ramesh Kumar called on Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday to discuss the deaths of 11 members of a Pakistani migrant family in India's Jodhpur district in Rajasthan state.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that during the meeting, Kumar informed Qureshi about the anxiety within the Pakistani Hindu community over the incident.

He shared that Shrimati Mukhi — the daughter of the deceased head of the family — had filed a first information report nominating the RSS and the BJP for their involvement in the incident, the statement said.

On August 9, the bodies of 11 people including children from a single family, who had migrated to India from Pakistan, were found in a field in Jodhpur district. According to reports, only one member of the family, which belonged to the Bheel community, now remains.

"Kumar also informed the foreign minister that, according to Mukhi, her father, mother and other family members were murdered after they refused to spy on Pakistan and issue anti-Pakistan statements at the behest of the Indian intelligence agency RAW."

Qureshi told the council's chief that Pakistan had taken up the issue with the Indian side through diplomatic channels in Islamabad and New Delhi.

"Immediately after the incident, the High Commission for Pakistan in New Delhi had asked the Indian government for provision of access to the surviving member of the family, copies of the FIR and initial investigation report and facilitating the presence of the High Commission for Pakistan’s representatives during the post-mortem of the deceased persons."

Qureshi assured Kumar that the safety and security of its nationals was the responsibility of the government and added that since the victims were Pakistani nationals, it was incumbent upon the government to be fully aware of the circumstances under which the victims died, the statement added.

The foreign minister assured that Pakistan would continue urging the government to provide the requisite information without further delay and carry out a comprehensive investigation into the matter and share its findings with the government of Pakistan, the press release said.

Kumar added that the Hindu community would take the necessary steps to register its strong protest against the incident and the continuing failure of the Indian government to carry out a transparent and credible investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice, it concluded.

A week ago, the Pakistan had summoned the Indian chargé d'affaires to convey its serious concern over the deaths of the 11 Pakistani Hindus.

The Indian envoy was told that "despite repeated requests by the High Commission for Pakistan in New Delhi for details regarding the tragic incident, the Indian government continues to evade the issue, has disclosed only scant information about the case, and has failed to share any substantive details regarding the cause and circumstances of the deaths", the Foreign Office spokesperson had said in a statement.

Shrimati Mukhi demands forensic probe
On September 6, Mukhi had appealed to the Pakistan government and International Court of Justice (ICJ) to ensure a forensic investigation was conducted into the deaths of her family members.

She believed that RAW had her father and other family members killed after it failed to convince him to act as a spy against Pakistan. When her father decided to return to Pakistan secretly with his family to expose RAW, the entire family was killed to protect the agency, she had said.

She had said they were killed on August 9 because the Indian government failed to achieve its nefarious designs.

A protest rally of 3570 Hindus from all over Sindh has reached Nankana Sahib in special buses from where they will head towards the federal capital city to stage the demonstration.

Patron-in-chief of the Pakistan Hindu Council Dr Ramesh Kumar on Sunday said the killing of 11 Pakistani Hindus in India's Jodhpur had exposed New Delhi's Citizenship Amendment Act that offers Indian nationality to the region's minorities, excluding Muslims.

"This [killing] raises the question whether it was a real act to grant amnesty or one to fool people," he said, addressing a press conference in Islamabad.

Eleven Pakistani Hindus, including children, were found dead in mysterious circumstances in village Lodta, Haridasot, district Jodhpur, in the Indian state of Rajasthan, on August 9, 2019, after having been living there for eight years.

A large number of Hindus from across the country have staged a sit-in at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to protest the incident. Members of the Hindu community, led by Kumar, reached the federal capital from Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and other parts of the country in a caravan to protested against the killings.

They have also called upon the international community to provide them justice.

Kumar said that he would soon move the International Court of Justice against India's crime of killing the Hindu family.

Speaking of India's injustice to Muslims, he said that he was invited to attend the groundbreaking of the Ayodhya Mandir.

"I declined the offer and said that I too worship Ram but I have never heard about a place of Allah's worship being razed to the ground and a place for Ram's worship being built on top."

He said that on the one hand the Supreme Court of Pakistan is "fighting for the rights of minorities in the country" and on the other hand, the supreme court in India has issued a judgment to build a temple on top of a mosque site.

"I think such actions should not be taken," he said.

Moving on to India's treatment of Kashmiris, Kumar said the people of India-occupied Jammu and Kashmir were incarcerated in their houses for over 400 days. "This is against basic human rights," he deplored.

He said Articles 35 and 370, that India had claimed were for empowering occupied Kashmir, are having a contrary effect, and the people of the region are suffering.

Kumar said that Pakistan had only put in 5% of the effort when compared to the struggle by Kashmiris. "If we had given our 100-150% then Kashmir would have become an independent state."

"It has been 74 years and several events have taken place. Both sides have made mistakes. We are ready to sit down and work to remove all reservations but for that you must follow international laws," he said, addressing the Indian leadership.

"We will have to stop this blame game and walk on the path of truth [...] only then we will see a region like that was envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam, Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru."

The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan disposed of on Thursday the case of killing of 11 Pakistani members of the Hindu community in India following assurance from the federal government to pursue the matter.

The top court concluded the case after the government assured that the matter will be probed through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the hearing, the SC observed that the court does not interfere in matters related to government policies.

The petitioner's counsel, Syed Qalb-e-Hasan, said that the issue was of serious nature and asked the top court to issue a notice to the government in this regard.

"They [India] raise a hue and cry when one of theirs goes missing yet 11 of our people [Pakistani nationals] were killed in India," the counsel added.

He further stated that people from India arrive in Pakistan to take part in the Besakhi festival. "Situation will become further tense if the circumstances remain the same. Foreign office is only carrying out a routine procedure into the matter."

Eleven members of a Pakistani Hindu migrants family were found dead at a farm in Indian northern Rajasthan’s Jodhpur on August 9, last year, police officials said.

One of the family members, who claimed to have slept outside the hut in a small Lodta village of Dechu area, said he had no clues as to what caused the incident, reported Indian media quoting officials.

He said there was a smell of some chemical around in the hut, suggesting that they consumed something.

All the family members were Hindu migrants from Pakistan from the Bhil community and had been living on the farm in the village, which they had hired for farming.

“There was neither any injury mark on any of the bodies nor any evidences of any foul play,” the SP said. “But we have roped in the forensic team and a dog squad to arrive at any final conclusion.”

Preliminary information indicated that there was some dispute in the family over some issue.

“Once we interrogate the survivor, we would be in any position to find out that what had led to this incident,” he said.
