Mickey Arthur during an interview:

"When there's security within the environment, Pakistan is very good. When there's that insecurity, players start playing for themselves instead of the team because they're thinking of the next tour, and the next contract. That's a dangerous place to be in, and that's kind of where Pakistan cricket is now. And that's something that's very disappointing and sad for me,"

"There's a massive amount of talent there, There are some world-class players, not just talented players. They're not given the support structure that they need to flourish,"

"I still follow Pakistan cricket and I'll always follow it. But the vigour and thirst and passion I have for Pakistan cricket waned a little bit after that. To be brutally honest, I think Pakistan cricket is in a very disappointing place,"

Well it may sound a bit bitter but seems there is some truth to it too. Recently we have seen Pak players going after Hafeez for not issuing NOCs for overseas leagues. So it appears Mickey's indictment could be true.

This entire quote speaks volume and I think he is right and this all stems from the insecurity from top down. Look at the sheer number of coaches and selectors changed in the last couple of years.

What he also forgot to mention is that some players are playing for their stats and milestones, so much so, even pitches are being doctored to cater for these requirements.

I mentioned this early on. His heart was never into it this time around from day one.

It's sad but he's right.

You have too many changes going on whether it's selectors, coaches, and even the chairman isn't safe. When players start seeing that, they have to become selfish because even the guys above them aren't secure.

It’s pretty obvious who they are bro. Mickey didn’t have these problems when he was coaching Pakistan with Sarfaraz as captain. Since he has returned, he basically has found a group of guys only thinking what’s best for them. In particular that guy who cried about batting at number 4

What makes them run after the contract? Obviously job insecurity and lack of money involved in our domestic cricket.

So what's wrong if they play for it? In the end team will get benefit if they perform whether they play for themselves or for their contract.

Spot on.

Mickey had an unforgivable job and he couldn't suppress the dosti yaara clique.

Players were being taken to restaurants, shopping and all kinds of scandals were taking place, to ensure the leadership of this clique would remain unchallenged.

As a result, lesser players who swore an oath of allegiance to lumber 1 and Saya Corps were selected and protected. As for the cult leaders, their focus on cricket waned as they became more distracted in extra curricular activities such as acting and doing "business" and also making random trips to Nepal.

This team has so many problems that sometimes I feel they are beyond repair. But Hope is the key here. I hope they come to their senses and start focusing on being a team, rather than trying to be an individuality curse.

Even if he is right, doesn't absolve him of being one of the worst foreign coaches ever for Pakistan. Makes a lot of noise but zero delivery.

Mickey as usual using a lot of words but saying nothing. An awful coach who has scammed PCB for years and fully deserved the treatment Zaka Ashraf dished out.

Agreed, cannot lose hope. I know PCB cannot afford him, but need someone with Mcullum's spirit and genius to manage this squad.

Even if the PCB could afford him, why on earth would someone like Mcullum possibly want to coach Pakistan ??

in fact, why would any coach of repute want to coach Pakistan ?

Face facts, a serial failure like Arthur (who two years into his “Derbyshire project” still has them languishing near the bottom of division 2) is the only calibre of foreign coach who would think of going to Pakistan.
