Our bowlers were clueless in the following series
England in UAE 2015
England in England 2016
Australia in Australia 2017
New Zealand in New Zealand 2018
Asia Cup vs India 2018
South Africa in South Africa 2019
Australia in the UAE 2019
Australia in Australia 2019
England in England 2020
New Zealand in New Zealand 2021
These same bowlers look solid whenever they play against Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, West Indies e.t.c
There is clearly a problem vs the top 3-4 teams in the World. When Misbah had the services of a pre 15 degree Ajmal, Hafeez, a prime Gul, an inform Afridi, Junaid Khan, Mohd Irfan you knew the bowling attack not only had attackers but also had reliable run chockers who even if will not pick wickets will not go for plenty.
In the present Pakistani team there is not a single bowler i see who can be relied upon to blaze through teams or keep the run rate down. Even our best bowler Shaheen Afridi goes missing vs the top teams.
I am not sure whether Waqar is really the answer, he has had 5 stints as bowling coach now and lets also be clear, the guy played cricket in a very different era. This is now the T-20 power hitting era and the blindly bowl yorkers at the death method of Wasim, Waqar doesn't really work flawlessly anymore.
Now bowlers have to have the ability to bowl 6 different deliveries, bowl defensively, intelligently with respect to their fields and use containment as a method of building pressure on the batting side.
Pakistani bowlers are still bowling the Imran Khan type blindly attack with full force at 90 mph and hope for a wicket. Cricket does not work like that anymore. I am seriously hoping that the PCB next time experiments with a Western Bowling coach i.e. someone who has coached in T-20 franchises extensively who can teach the Pakistani bowlers the art of atleast bowling to a plan, a field and looking to bowl dots when the pitch does not suit racing in and bowling at 90 mph plus.
Shaheen and Rauf were bowling at 88-90 mph but absolutely zero plan on what they were doing or suppossed to do.
