One-wheeling, kite flying and aerial firing declared un-Islamic

The country’s religious scholars have issued a fatwa declaring three life-threatening activities – one-wheeling, kite flying, and aerial firing as un-Islamic, citing the sanctity of human life as paramount.

The fatwa states that any act endangering life is against Islamic teachings, which prioritise the protection of human lives.

Scholars described these activities as highly dangerous and equated them to acts of self-harm.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran highlighted the fatalities linked to these practices, stressing that Islam forbids actions that lead to self-destruction.

According to police records, 151 individuals have been arrested for one-wheeling and 150 cases registered for kite flying in just 20 days.

Additionally, 118 offenders involved in aerial firing have been jailed.

The police vowed to continue strict action to curb these unlawful and life-threatening activities. Parents were urged to discourage their children from engaging in such harmful behaviours.

Kite flying and aerial firing, in particular, have caused numerous injuries and deaths due to sharp kite strings and stray bullets.

Authorities and religious leaders called for community cooperation to uphold public safety and Islamic values.

Islam always tells its followers to stay grounded so the kite ban makes sense..

300 arrests for one wheeling and kite flying in 20 days. This sort of subversive activity certainly makes one understand why Pakistan needs to be a police state.

On the issue of fatwas, I wonder if there has been any issued in the last few years about public littering or the benefits of queueing in an orderly fashion? The religious scholars do seem to get plenty of airtime, so it could be put to good use in so many areas I am thinking.

Agree with littering and keeping society clean etc but only people in the world who queue are the British...

Wheelies should be banned. Too many show offs injure themselves or others.

Air firing is just dumb anyway.

Kite Flying is an extreme sport in Pakistan. Most of the deaths are from dangerous string, they could control this and ban the glass filled string rather than banning the whole activity.

A general principle in life is to take the good from every society, and believe me, queueing is something the rest of the world should have adopted from the Brits.
