Pakistan's Super Eight fixtures at ICC T20 World Cup 2026

So Colombo will be bat 1st wicket conducive to spin, while Kandy will be flat with big scores. On paper we can win all three and even lose all three. Interesting stuff
 
Batting relies on Farhan

Bowling on Tariq

Saim and Agha need to score runs to give us a chance.
 
In Colombo, match is against nz.nz can adapt to spin conditions unlike eng.it can be tricky for both teams.eng and lanka got a good or easy conditions at pallekele.
 
Need to sort out playing 11
Need a proper fast bowler and that should be Naseem
You're scared to bat Babar against an associate so just drop him and bring fakhar in..can't do any worse

Pak has every chance of beating Eng and SL. Those are 50/50 games. Of course you need to get the selection right, but apart from NZ game, the other 2 games will be interesting.
 
To be honest Pakistan should be batting first most of the time. Batting first if they even get 160, they have the spinners who can make a game out of it. I don't feel they have the mental toughness to chase down even moderate totals unless the quality of opposition bowling/fielding allows them to.

At Premadasa it is pretty much a must to bat first but in Kandy aswell I think they would be better off batting first when the pressure is not that much.

Not entirely flat. There is definitely considerable assistance for the spinners and swing on-offer early on. We haven't really seen a quality bowling attack play on that surface in this tournament so far.

Ain't matter. SL will be a different kettle with the passionate crowd support just like the game vs Aus and everyone knows how Pak chokes and folds up at the slightest hint of pressure. Pak achievement was reaching super 8s and thats pretty much it.

We beat them even with a passionate crowd behind them. We might lose all three games as we aren’t a great team, but this lousy effort to put Sri Lanka as favourites above Pakistan is laughable. New Zealand is the most in-form team in our group, with the other three capable of beating each other.

If this is based on beating Australia, our lads destroyed the same side three times less than a month ago.

Just be thankful garbage like USA hasn’t sneaked into the Super 8s.

USA did pretty good with the limited resources it has compared to the full time Pak cricketers. Give USA more support- maybe call us for a bilateral series and see how they improve.. it will be ya to win hai ya to learn hai for USA lol !

And Eng is a bigger favorite than SL IMO.. just can't see pak coming anywhere close to SFs. Most probably they will be waiting on other results and hoping and praying for Kudrat ka nizam at the back end lol ! 😂

Sri Lanka achieved a target of 182 runs, while Nepal achieved a target of over 175 runs on the same ground. There is a lot of dew in the second innings, making it difficult for spinners to grip the ball. The team batting second has a significant advantage here.

It is a very open group. Literally any of the teams could finish first or second.

We could have three teams with 2 wins and NRR deciding the outcome.

USA is garbage, they didn’t do well at all. Surrendered meekly infront of a team you don’t rate.

Yea England if they get their stuff together is a very dangerous side. They thrashed Lanka 3-0 before the World Cup, so they are certainly a force to deal with.

England defended 128 and 133 against Sri Lanka a few weeks ago too. And one of those matches was a rain-affected match.
 
With Australia out, this is a much tougher group unfortunately. People thinking Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be pushed aside by England and New Zealand might get surprised, specially in these conditions.
 
Parosees have spoken. Call Agha and tell him and the boys to pack up and come home.
Guys just chill, we will see what happens. Everyone starts on 0 points and we will of course support our team to win.

And most of the matches played on this pitch so far have involved minnows. Which is not an accurate reelection of how this pitch actually plays

Australia vs srilanka was most important match of Lanka leg so far and that pitch was good for batting. :kp

Australian bowling in this tournament was not good. The two good bowlers they had - Ellis and Zampa- completely misread the pitch.
 
You can’t afford Saim Ayub to open again I guess . Also Abrar is must in all 3 games

Get Fakhar to open . Saim goes to 5 or drop Babar

Abrar replaces Faheem
 
NZ game is crucial. If Pak wins that game they can qualify. If they drop that they ll lose to Eng also and get out...
 
It’s a great group of games if you’re a neutral. I unlike many of the posters in this forum.

I don’t think these games are as straightforward as they seem. Each team can beat each others. Specially considering Mitch Santner versus Pakistan batters not named Fakhar Zaman.
 
On batting friendly surfaces, should Pakistan go with 3 seamers or play extra spinners?

Opening the bowling with Faheem Ashraf will be risky against better teams. We need to find a way to get 3 pacers in the side i.e. Naseem, Salman Mirza and Faheem Ashraf without compromising on our spin depth and still batting deep

No need to play James Neesham. They will play bracewell ( or even sodhi) for Lankan conditions :kp

I believe home team Sri Lanka will win all 3 games

Adding to this, if Saim fails the next game. I would then go with Fakhar and Farhan as an opener. Saim would either warm the bench or play at no. 6/7 as an all rounder.
 
Too many losers from previous campaigns in the team, Shadab, Nawaz, Babar etc and a misfiring Shaheen. I don't fancy our chances against NZ and Eng, they can rack up big scores and quickly if chasing.
 
Pakistan will have to play really well to win 2/3 games. Probably should bat first if they win the toss.

Pak does not have such a great record against England in T20Is having won just 9 games and lost 20.

Against NZ it is 24-23, however, NZ who used to be easy opponents for us in ICC tournaments (NZ lost many ODI World Cup semifinals to us) pre-2022 has dominated us across formats since then.

Against Sri Lanka it is 17-12, however, they will be tough to beat in home conditions. Need to have a solid game plan against Nissanka and Kusal Mendis, two of their most dangerous batsmen. Shanaka is also a dangerous hitter.
 
Have to start well in super 8

If they beat NZ I expect them to make semis
 
We obviously haven’t carrried over the two points from the first stage and are likely to lose against the in form team if the tournament
In Asian conditions we should be able to walk over New Zealand, the quarter finals will be the real litmus test against adil rashid and England

He was nothing special.

NZ is going to miss bracewell in super -8 stage, Neesham is washup player and not much effective in Lankan conditions.

Santner and Bracewell – two spin bowling all-rounders playing in the same playing XI could have proved extremely beneficial for New Zealand.

Bracewell is also not that good. But yeah Cole looks even worse. They should just back Rachin and Philips to bowl

Bracewell is not that good if count him as an bowler but overall package he offered a lot for NZ.

Yes Rachin and Philip can fill the 5th bowling option .

Tbh we have an easy group and our spinners would make light work of Eng and Nz. I'm worried about the SL clash and specially Nissanka. If we can get him out early we have a solid chance.

New Zealand is the toughest team for Pakistan in this group. This is not the old New Zealand team that succumbed easily under pressure or struggled to cope with spinners.
Sri Lanka's batting is completely dependent on Nissanka, and their bowling is nothing without Hasaranga. I don't know how Pathirana's fitness is.

There won't be any easy games for Pakistan in the Super 8. TBH, any of these two teams can go through.
 
NZ ENG SL , basically we need 2 wins and a narrow defeat at worse. All three teams are dangerous

I guess England will surely struggle against the Pakistani spinners.
Pakistan has a good record against NZ in ICC tournaments, and this match could be a good game 50-50.
SL is unpredictable, but they are the favorites in this match, IMO.
