Sarfraz with the first drop of the series off Azhar's bowling, and it was Smith - big chance gone down.

Terrible from Sarfraz. Lasts over of the session and the best batsman in their team

My mom ran after me after hearing the words I used for sarfraz in full voice. I think he dropped the most important catch of the match.

Azhar has been bowling beautifully though.

The ghost of Sydney 2010 has returned, at least for me. Having waited for 6 years for the team to right the terrible wrongs from that tour, you witness a massive drop on day 1 on what looks like a placid track and that too of their best batsman. Absolutely horrible feeling. Just forseeing what would have happened had he caught it - inexperienced batters in, long tail and a really good opportunity to restrict them under 300 - has made it that much more painful.

And this is why we never win in Australia. We are a poor catching team but Australian pitches, with the extra pace and bounce, make matters worse.

With every boundary Smith hits, I am getting more restless. That drop from Sarfraz has probably already killed the spirits just when they were just about to rekindle.

Pakistan think tank should increase catching practice during training , even at the cost of batting/bowling.

Mixed show so far - good keeping by Rizwan in general but Hafeez with a dropped catch and a bit of sloppiness in the outfield with Sharjeel pretty slow out there.

So frustrating. This fielding is embarrassing. Not just the drops. Ground fielding has been disgraceful

This is like 3rd grade club cricket fielding now. 2 sitters dropped, overthrows...

Pakistan have fielded pretty well this series from what I have seen but today pretty poor stuff must be said. Catches win matches. Also not sure what Sharjeel was doing at backward point.

Hasan needs to inprove his fielding, dropped a dolly today and another catch that could have been taken.

Five dropped catches? Aussies gave us the same number of chances last game (3rd ODI)

Yes it's true..

Babar Azam was dropped twice, Sharjeel was dropped once..

Umar Akmal's stumping was missed..

And there was an easy direct hit that was missed by the Aussies (chance by Aussie standards)

Yet we managed to score only 260..

With the same number of reprieves today, how much will Australia score? My guess is on 360..

It just shows the gulf of difference between the sides at the moment

What people are ignoring because of so many drops is that our ground fielding has been pathetic! Instead of saving 15-20 runs (like any other modern day team) by being agile and athletic in the field, we've let 25-30 go. Because of the misfields, singles have been turned into doubles, 2's into 3's and the odd ones have even gone for 4. So, all in all, ignoring the drops, we've let them get about extra 50 runs just because of the poor ground fielding and the sloppy misfields. Absolutely pathetic. What is Steve Rixon being paid for? Can't hold onto your catches. Can't run after the ball. Can't dive. Can't take anything a little hard and on top of that there's misfields.

we have big hearts yaar
when people give us a gift we have to gift something back

Impressed with the fielding this series.
sure theres been the odd drop or 2 but overall very good

Pakistan gave probably 50 extra runs here due to sloppy ground fielding. Aus was running 1s or 2s , no matter where ball was going. On top of that so many sitters being dropped. Decades back sides used to field this way.

Are we regressing? Steve Rixon needs to come up with a strategy to fix this now

Absolutely woeful today!! Abysmal . . whatever other adjectives you can find . .

It's getting worse and there is no quick fix.

Need good captain and some good fielders to inspire rest.

who were the droppers today? what impact did those drops have?

Azhar dropped a tough one on the first ball of the innings, was quite wide of him at second slip.

Amir dropped a dolly off Warner when he was on 130.

Add to that the usual misfields and overthrows. Pretty poor overall until they finally started catching some at the end.

Sounds pretty awful... worrying

The fielding efforts on this whole tour has been pathetic and we are by far the worst fielding side in world cricket right now.
