PCB invites 20 cricketers for pre-season camp at the NCA, Misbah-ul-Haq appointed camp commandant

3/6 "non-contracted" players are conveniently his buddies from domestic cricket. It's already an ominous sign.

Misbah may be a good idea in 10-15 years depending on his resume but appointing him right now will be asking for trouble.

The only names I see here that shouldn't be here are Rahat Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed. There are 18 other players aswell.

The pre-season camp selections don't mean much unless Misbah is hired.

I'll explain what I see.

Rahat Ali - friend, SNGPL teammate
Ifthikhar Ahmed - friend, SNGPL and Islamabad teammate
Bilal Asif - friend, vouched for his position in ODIs vs SL (literally quoted by chief selector Haroon Rashid at the time)
Zafar Gohar - Islamabad teammate
Asif Ali - Faisalabad and Islamabad teammate

Mir Hamza is the only pick without any known connections to Misbah.

Misbah is a quality person and cricketer (I don't think he does it out of malicious intent) but he has a soft spot for certain players. It's one of the reasons he welcomed so many older players and/or domestic teammates into his Test squads.

Misbah doesnt have personal connections with these guys.

Misbah sees whoever is performing good in doemstic cricket or whoever is a good player he brings them to his team.

The guy used to steal the best players in first class for his domestoc side and at the end it was his teams that won.

Soo obviously if misbah selected the best for sngpl he will select rhe best for pakistan

Misbah is a long time friend of samiullah niazi but he didnt select him.


What im saying is that if misbah would had saw that awais zia of rawalpindi is a good opener he would had selected him inchis doemstic team. But he is not.
But shadab was so misbah selected him in his domestic team.

Misbah infact even stole shaheen shah afridi for sngpl.

So my point is its very wrong to say misbah is friends or team mates that why he selected them for the camp.

Misbah was the captain of sngpl and he selected the best and now for pakistan team he is selecting the best and oen problem is all thr good players were mostly in his team.


Its funny you mentioned iftikhar ahmed. Misbah had no idea about this guy until a faislaabad wolves vs peshawar panthar match where iftikhar destroyed the wolves. He then continued to perform and got peshawar to win.
Thus after that misbah selected iftikhar for both sngpl and islamabad.

Even mohammad abbas got selected to pakistan team when misbah saw his performance against sngpl. The guy was moving the ball and almost defeated sngpl. Misbah liked the bowler got him.in pakistan test series.

There is always the personal motive. Everyone is selfish, everyone looks after his needs first. Its human psychic.

There is no reason to criticize Misbah. Ultimately, it is PCB’s call. He should not be involved with the team in any coaching/selector capacity, although he can be an asset for the PCB in other areas.

Fully agree that people shouldn't have digs at Misbah since it's the PCB decision. He definitely does need to be used by the PCB imo but not as coach especially as others have mentioned that he's played with a fair chunk of the players in and around the team. He can provide value for Pakistan cricket but has to be given the right job

Contracted players are mandatory participants meaning Misbah would have no say in their inclusion.

That's why I only gave my opinion on the other six.

I get what you mean but it's a very bad look.

5/6 non-contracted players have direct connections with him one way or another. This is why choosing one friend/teammate (whatever term works) over the other still doesn't let him off the hook.

The only reason I bring this up because these are not the six best non-contracted players. Not even close. There are multiple players better than them except they're not associated with the camp commander.

Like I said, I'm not a Misbah hater and actually hold him in high regard but you gotta call someone out in these situations. Sometimes, a person becomes blinded based on their experiences and for Misbah it may have to do with his SNGPL/Faisalabad/Islamabad teammates.

If all Wasim Khan , with all his high paid job, comes out with this planning, leaving players at the mercy of Misbah, I doubt he is taking Pakistan cricket to right direction.

Iftikhar should have been there in that Aus tour of UAE ODI leg as well. He played some crucial knocks in PSL and looked like handling the pressure well now. In terms pf performances he has been one of the most consistent performers in domestics and one of the best strikers of cricket ball available in Pakistan. He is also a pretty decent off spinner.

The only problem was transferring domestic performances to bigger stage which he showed this time around in PSL. He has 11 centuries in FC at avg of 40 so its not like he is being noticed for good small innings.

Groom-to-be Hasan Ali requests PCB to skip fitness tests

Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali has requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to grant him leave as the cricketer’s marriage nears.

As per media reports, Hasan has informed the board that he would not be able to give the fitness test to be held on 19th and 20th August, but will soon join the training camp after his nikkah. Earlier, the speedster had shared the details about his wedding and announced that the nikkah will take place on August 20 in Dubai, while other ceremonies would take place two to three months later in Pakistan.

Hasan Ali, who is set to marry an Indian girl named Samia, just like teammate Shoaib Malik who married Indian tennis star Sania Miza, has stated that his family members alongside fellow teammate and buddy Shadab Khan would attend the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Pakistan former captain Misbah ul Haq would lead the PCB’s 17-day conditioning camp, which will commence in Lahore on 19 August at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), as Pakistan prepares for the upcoming gruelling Test season.

Some twenty players including fourteen centrally contracted players that include Hasan Ali and six additional men cricketers have been invited to attend a pre-season camp. The players will undergo fielding drills and net sessions, along with fitness and other cricketing activities at the camp.
