Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan is reportedly the frontrunner to become the new Director of Domestic Cricket, following Abdullah Khurram Niazi’s decision to step down from the role and return to the CDA after completing his deputation, although the PCB has yet to make an official announcement and discussions with Younis are said to be ongoing.

A reliable source aware of the development said PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was keen on having Younis for the important post of Director Domestic Cricket.

"Khurrum Niazi who is a career bureaucrat and currently heads the domestic department has been posted in Islamabad and will report soon for his new assignment. Which is why the board is looking at Younis to take over as Director Domestic cricket," the source said.

What’s the deal with interchangeable “u” and “i” in his name? People, and he himself writes Younus sometimes and Younis at others! Look at his name (Younus) and handle (Younis) in X.

The one in Urdu/Pashto is probably sacrosanct. The English version and its variants don't matter.

Younus Khan is temperamental and he may just get antsy and just quit and I am not sure if he is a good choice for a strategic role like "Director of Cricket".

He is a great role model for youngsters and motivator and someone to emulate but he has never shown any inkling in his career for strategic thinking and long term planning.

Good riddance to Khurram Niazi. An unqualified individual who inherited a far from perfect but relatively stable domestic system and took a sledgehammer to it.

I'm not even talking about the 2019-2022 system - even the 2023 QEA Trophy with 8 teams was a decent model to build on. Instead he's overseen constant flux. The now dead Champions Cups were a criminal waste of money.

I love Younis Khan but I have a feeling this will end badly. Younis is a strong personality who doesn't take s**t from anyone. He will happily take his ball and go home before agreeing to do something that feels like B.S to him. And in an organization like PCB you know most of the policies and ideas coming from the top are pure B.S.

Its similar to ned stark fate at the hands of little finger like aquib etc.all the pcb survivors are pathetically corrupt and rotten.younis is too straightforward and egoistic to bend his knee/ways to handle situations .

Nobody wants to stay on PCB system until he is a beneficiary of this system. Not sure how long Younis is gonna stay if he says OK because PCB has a habit of dumping good guys early.

For a guy who tried to bring a knife on his coach that to in England, out of all the place, i wonder hoe many domestic players will get a knife attack from him

You’re acting like he personally stabbed you.

Younis Khan hasn’t killed anybody, in-fact he kept the myth of Misbah’s UAE success alive so you should be bowing before Khan & not Misbah

He’s the CM Punk of Pakistan & I love it, he knows his worth & value, why take bs from anybody, his ego is justified and it’s a shame on Pakistan they never fully utilise him in any capacity, instead give main-event pushes to jobbers who play by the PCB’s rule and as such are limited to that level

Well done for calling out his toxic agenda.

Notice how other posters were discussing YK’s remarkable fitness and shape at his age, and then all of a sudden he shows up on here trying to shift the narrative because of his jealousy and insecurity.

Same poster cries on timepass about how he’s been starved of blessings in his life and his academic struggles but continues to run toxic campaigns about certain high profile individuals.

A guy who is mentally unstable and threatens his coach while holding a knife shouldnt be getting any such jobs.

His unstable nature makes him a danger.

Who knows who may he stab.

How stable was Misbah when playing that scoop against India?

Younis has never been convicted, Misbah should be for treason

He’s a working class hero, all these years later these low lives will bring up nonsense to push forward the narratives surrounding their favourite players; it’s because of weasels like these Pak has not been able to thrive, even with players that were genuinely very good

How is calling out cold hard facts, an agenda? From attacking spectators to attacking coach, Younis has always been an agressive individual

He has also got his ego hurt and run away in a huff many times in the past, as captain, as coach.

Denying reality doesn't make you right or patriotic. You are the one with an agenda to deny the truth.

That's a very high bar you have for a coach, lol.

Also my prediction, he will get his ego hurt and quit in a huff. He has done multiple times in the past

A lot of the sensitive folk here go on like he stole their dinner, you should treat your legends well and give them the freedom to add value opposed to hiring glorified club cricketers
:misbah

Spot on. By his own admission, he supports Misbah more than the Pakistan team. This is why I say Major by name, minor in credibility.

This is bs, it doesn’t mean anything because nobody is more qualified then Younis Khan, PCB should figure out a way to make it work then bring back the same numpties to make sure the team does not perfect, do your research on who he is replacing before you create a court case on Major’s behalf

I have an agenda, we all have one, my agenda is for Pakistan to do well and for the most competent individuals to be involved.

Not a guy who wanted to burn his cricket kit, going by the logic of these guys, who was he going to burn next? It could have been the entire PCB HQ as we know it when this stubborn toddler doesn’t get his way

This is an issue with some of them.

They dont want younis erratic behavior be bought up and be given a job without any thinking.

In West, an individual like him would never get a job. His tantrums and having a huge ego that gets hurt every now and than is one thing, but the fact that he pulled a knife on his coach and that to in England, shows he is not mentally stable and could be a threat to society.

I think even Hassan Ali got angry aswell at this guy

Only in Pakistan such people get jobs.

Just praying for Hessons safety.

With the greatest of respect, you joined PP just over a year ago, so I highly doubt you have full knowledge of Major’s toxic agendas and campaigns.

I’ll give you a fine example of this, to get you up to speed. He claims Misbah > Inzamam in white ball. It’s one thing to hate Inzamam but to disrespect him like this is just toxic.

I fully acknowledge that YK is far from perfect but he’s the only Pakistani, who’s scored 10,000 test runs and led the national side to a WT20 triumph. Facts do not care about feelings.

Qualified based on what?

Pulling a knife on a coach? Having a fight with every other cricketer?

Everyone knows that if this guy gets a role he is not even last 6 to 12 months. He will get fragile ego hurt or have a fight with someone, throwing his toys out of his pram and resigning.

An excellent analogy. It just goes to show that anyone can come up with their own hyperbole to create an image about someone with all sorts of inflammatory language.

Major would fit in well with composing his sound bites for the far right media here. After all, his written english is a similar standard to those illiterate roundabout painters here.

Lets hire the guy who wanted to burn his cricket kit & lost every big high profile game against India, not to
mention the big media meltdowns, there is your qualification with your ignorant wiring.

Imagine a place where the most important criteria is being sharif for the top job, go get the local Molvi to run the PCB you pleb

You havent mention the qualifications. You said he was highly qualified.

Being mentally unstable and pulling out a knife on argument is not a qualification

You can't run him. Simple as that.

Burning your cricket kit, having your fat son leapfrog others in the domestic system, being on the panel to judge a coach you replace and losing to India are not qualifications, even worse; dressing like a junglee before your PM shouldn’t get you the top job either; based on what exactly? Having a beard now is good enough to qualify….there you go

You said younis has qualifications for the post. Still waiting you to share those qualifications, not interested in the gibberish.

What gibberish you spout it every single time like a human piece of garbage playing silly little games just to put over that coward who sold his country to India

so time to accept there are no qualifications which you had made up? or want to continue with the gibberish?

I told you yeah burning his kit should have been a qualification, throwing games to India and having a beard would be enough for the peasant Younis to get the top job over the last qualified individual, absolute pleb

So Younis has no qualifications which you made up initially.

Thank you

Indeed, Misbah ousted Mickey Arthur merely to take the job for himself.

Domestic cricket in Pakistan has needed direction for a while. The structure keeps changing, but the results don’t. If Younis gets the role and is actually given authority, not just a title, he could bring some much needed stability and honesty into the system. He’s known for being straightforward, which might not please everyone, but it’s probably what the setup needs right now.

But unless the PCB actually lets him run things, it’s pointless. They’ve made good appointments before and then suffocated them.

You have zero brain cells beating a dead horse on a futile point in the grand scheme and when a fitting retort is replied you can’t handle it so pursue cowardly arguments like a sore loser, go back to being an Islamabad Booger kid

I have 0 brain cells.

Nothing needs to be proven to a petulant child infatuated by his gay love for fraud Misbah & you couldn’t even respond to the post by a guy who cared enough to entertain your re!ardartion

A lowly human being that is a lover of India should not be entertained, but you had no response for any of the proofs shown to you, the burger flat out ignored it because you have the head too far up the guy who wanted to burn Pakistan Cricket

Run a long now. A person who make claims than cant back them up, and starts throwing his toys out of his pram, just like younis

Foolish child @Major did you not get an education in Pakistan to read, it can’t be that bad or do you have a mental deformity
There are a few posters on my blocked list.

Also, chatgpt doest give accurate info, as both the players mentioned have pcb level 3 coaching i believe and lastly coaching qualifications have nothing to do with being director of domestic cricket. Its not a coaching position.

Post 47 has the info but you’re not concerned about that because you’re too busy defending Misbah

A coaching certificate is not a qualification for domestic cricket director.

Now that you been exposed you don’t want to accept it, what did the last guy have you burger? Being Pakistan’s greatest isn’t enough of a supplement for the formal stuff, what has your dad done to qualify for the role?

Scoring 10k runs is not a qualification. Maybe to be ur Abu he might, but not for domestic cricket director.

The qualifications which you reject your multiple fathers have them to, and in-fact the outgoing guy was scrutinised based on him lacking them to begin with, you’re a clueless multiple fathered burger who doesn’t even understand the role, requirements and qualifications in your own country, that’s how clueless & out of depth you are and that’s why you live a miserable life in Pakistan:

The Pakistani Cricket Board (PCB) has set up a five-member committee to evaluate the abilities of its level one to four coaches, and also evaluate the support staff under the chairmanship of Director Domestic Cricket Abdullah Khurram Niazi, who has played a few first-class matches but is not familiar with coaching, Express has reported.

The surprising thing is that two former captains of the Pakistan team, Misbah-ul-Haq, Azhar Ali, former Test cricketer Asad Shafiq, former international cricketer and senior general manager of domestic cricket Junaid Zia will work under him as members of the National Cricket Academy in the evaluation committee.

Director Nadeem Khan, head coach in charge of all coaches Haji Shahid Anwar and head of coach education department Shahid Mehboob were also not included.

Misbah-ul-Haq is the former chief selector and coach of the Pakistan team, he is level three qualified in coaching. Azhar Ali has passed the level two coaching course from England, which was not recognized by PCB until a few years ago.

Asad Shafiq has not taken any coaching course but has extensive experience in domestic and international cricket. On the other hand, Abdullah Khurram Niazi has been appointed to PCB on deputation from the bureaucracy. Fingers are being raised on the cricket board on the formation of the committee.’

Wonderful appointment. Younis has his issues they are well documented already, but this isn't a one on one coaching role. He will be involved in making sure domestic cricket is fit for purpose, and things like facilities, scheduling, management, etc where he will be able to provide an exceptional perspective given his understanding of Pakistan cricket, international cricket and overseas cricket structure too.

For once the PCB has got something right with an appointment. Our domestic cricket needs to be overhauled and fixed, and it's good to have someone who has operated at the highest level in cricket at the helm.

Younis will understand from a players perspective the impact shifting schedules, low quality facilities and random last minute pitches can have on development and output, in the way that a normal administrator won't be able to.

If this appointment goes through i can tell you right now it will fail badly.

The appointment should had been given to the regional heads who is leading the best club cricket circuit in their region.

And by that i mean is any region which has all its club alotted a cricket ground with sponsorsership along with balls and pitch roller being provided by the region or sponsorship.

It should had been a promotion.

Someone who knows what to do, what issues are there and have a framework on which they already worked on and can use it for domestic.

This younis appointment on the basis of ex cricketer quota who may have made a strong rhetoric on pakistan cricket means nothing.

For a decade, this job was with Moin Khans brother, who i think was named Nadeem Khan. Before him Javed Miandad had this position at some time. Even a bureaucrat of CDA Khurram Niazi had this job. None of them did anything worthwhile.

Same mistakes being made, as if some guy who scored runs in international will do wonders.

It should had been someone promoted from the regions.

Pointless, he will quit (shortly) due to some disrespect. Younis Khan demands a rather high protocol and gets upset easily.

The timer in on and betting houses must be giving odds in favor of YK abruptly quitting this job too

Rashid Latif and YK have a rich history of abruptly quitting the roles assigned to them

Not judging them in particular. I am pretty sure that the PCB lies to them about roles assigned to the job offered to them

But these are the things which you get in writing before you start the job

YK's historic trend doesn't make this opportunity look promising...

I might aswelll start a betting odds on Younis quitting if he takes the job.

Guy even had a fight on live Television lol

Younis should be given a short term appointment of our test team. These players will only understand the responsibility of representing Pakistan with some good danda. Shan will probably **** his pants and resign.
