The recent times of Pakistan cricket hasn't been great. We have lost our way in test cricket especially at home and on top of that we have come close in 2 T20 WCs. Given that our best players are in their prime at the moment its a matter of 5-8 years time when they will start loosing form and their replacement would have to effectively take over reigns in Pakistan cricket. Therefore its important we invest in our young talent appropriately and empower them for a bright future ahead.

Muhammad Hurraira - (Tests/ODIs) - Potential replacement of Potential replacement of Imam, Shan and long-term replacement of Babar in tests
Hurraira is the brightest talent from our young pool of talents. The most striking ability of this lad is his ability to construct a long inning at such a young age while being technically very correct especially on backfoot outside off. He is bound to have a long career ahead of him and I hope he has good work ethic that will massively help him. He is a good fielder and a safe slip catcher too.

Haseebullah - (Tests) - Potential replacement of Rizwan
He is another very correct player who can play around the ground. His glove work will need some improvement but comes across as our best bet in test cricket after Rizwan.

Mohammad Haris - (ODI/T20s) - Potential replacement of Rizwan
Nothing needs to be said on Haris as he has showcased his talent in recent T20 WC. The only suggestion to him would be to learn how to apply yourself whilst batting and ensure you don't throw your wicket when you are in good position. Another suggestion would be to concentrate on his middle overs game as he comes across as someone who can sneak 1s and 2s without getting bogged down. If he can master this he would have a very good career.

Hassan Khan - (ODI/T20s) - Potential replacement of Nawaz/Imad
I rate Hassan Khan very highly. He is a very good fielder, good batsman and very good bowler. His ceiling is higher than many others and Pietersen has said something similar when he played alongside him in Quetta Gladiators. Definitely would be an impact player and needs to be backed.

Qasim Akram - (Test/ODI/T20s) - Potentially in mould of Hafeez, Malik and can replace Iftikhar
The captain of our u19 setup is one of the most improved cricketers I have seen since u19 days. His batting has grown leaps and bounds and is a very capable fielder as well. Another one that comes across as a smart cricketer and have a good career ahead of him.

Mubasir Khan (Test/ODIs) - Potential replacement of Nawaz
What a year Mubasir has had this season. He is arguably on top of both batting and bowling lists of every domestic tournament. He will have his opportunity soon and the position he will be asked to bat can be tricky but he comes across as someone who is mentally strong so here hoping and wishing best for him.

Zeeshan Zameer (Tests/ODI) - Potential replacement of Naseem
Tall fast bowler who hits the deck hard. He has the ingredients and if he can amp that pace up to 145 mark then he can be very lethal in SENA conditions. Certainly someone to take along on SENA tours

Aimal Khan (ODI/T20s) - Potential replacement of Haris Rauf
Skiddy and round arm bowler who likes to bowl full and yorker length. He has natural swing away from right handers and can be a decent death bowler or in conditions where there might be some reverse swing. Again someone to work upon.

This is not an exhaustive list and I have not included young players who have already made a name for themselves in international cricket like Naseem or Haider Ali.

The point is we have some exciting youngsters coming along and I wish all the best to them and hope then can take Pakistan cricket forward together with their careers.

Mohammad Harris is already a superior white ball player to Rizwan

There is no “potential” element in this

Save yourself a spot in these two teams. Pick Harris who is versatile unlike Rizwan and pick the extra batsman or bowler

The youth is not interested in cricket at all and the talent which is coming through U19 setup is probably the worst in Pak cricket history , the only way to attract youth towards cricket is to involve money in to the cricket at age group level and also invest in getting quality coaches otherwise we will fell down even more in next decade.

In your dreams if you think youth are not interested in cricket in paksitan. When important political figures will bring in favorites chairman and bring in crap fraudulent who knows 0 about cricket this is bound to happen. And plus when after 2 -3 good performances against crap teams you fans start hyping the players and term them superstars this is bound to happen wait for it we have 4 more humiliation to suffer

I am talking about U19 talent and PJL talent which was shocking to say the least , it has nothing to do with corruption or corrupt officials.
Even the random YouTube videos of cricket academies have players getting cheered for bowling at 75mph , heck things were not like that couple of decades ago , even I bowled at 124k during my play years and I was and didn’t get selected in any major team, but now currently the bowlers being hype up for bowling 75mph.

When you select famous politician cricketer or other sifarshi players from grass root what do you expect? Our nation is corrupt to the core

That money will go into the pockets of the wrong people and not into building grassroots cricket.

The country like its cricket is a mess awash with corruption.

Give them junior central contracts just like the national team then it won’t go in to pocket of corrupt officials

The Pakistan cricket administration has become too politicized in the past few years with competing forces pulling the game in different directions. It also didn’t help that they made the most inept player captain and gave him unpre control over the team selection. It also didn’t help they appointed a virtual coach who dictated in his contract that he won’t be with the team in person.

And if all that wasn’t bad enough, there was no preparations for the World Cup and the empowered captain simply selected his best friends for the World Cup. As a result, once they faced reality by going against professional teams, they became like deer caught in headlights. Completed frozen and got in panic mode.

The entire selection committee, coaching staff and nonperforming players should all be sacked. Domestic performance should be the prerequisite for national team selection, not circus T20 leagues. Board also must also block centrally contracted players from playing in foreign T20 leagues.

Finally, a competent, forward thinking coaching staff and management must be selected.

Start with mindset first . Misbah Babar Rizwan kind of mindset will drain the coming players and make them into kittens .

Nothing will change unless you start erasing the parchi/yaari system. I am sure all the selectors are being called from all corners to select certain players. It's quite obvious the players are not selected on merit.

if your old enough youve seen this thread in its many guises over the years, the grass is always greener on the other side and the players who arent playing for Pakistan are always the answer.

lets be real here, one or two selections and non availabilities notwithstanding this was the best squad pak had, and they fell short. the PCB gave them a consistent run, backed them, and they fell short.

this wasn't because of lack of planning, investing, management, etc, its because by and large Pakistani players are somewhat technically inferior to the better teams, and significantly inferior to even the average teams when it comes to the mental aspect of the game.

none of the guys you mention are the answer, barring hurraria none have shown any exceptional performance in a subs standard domestic setup. if anything they are worse than the current lot.

the Pakistani team is one dimensional, timid, unadventurous, lacks creativity and competitive flair, because it is a reflection of Pakistani society. unless the society changes, the cricketers it produces will always be so.

Agreed the playing XI apart for couple of changes was the best available team that played and they were inferior considerably compare to the teams
