The recent times of Pakistan cricket hasn't been great. We have lost our way in test cricket especially at home and on top of that we have come close in 2 T20 WCs. Given that our best players are in their prime at the moment its a matter of 5-8 years time when they will start loosing form and their replacement would have to effectively take over reigns in Pakistan cricket. Therefore its important we invest in our young talent appropriately and empower them for a bright future ahead.
Muhammad Hurraira - (Tests/ODIs) - Potential replacement of Potential replacement of Imam, Shan and long-term replacement of Babar in tests
Hurraira is the brightest talent from our young pool of talents. The most striking ability of this lad is his ability to construct a long inning at such a young age while being technically very correct especially on backfoot outside off. He is bound to have a long career ahead of him and I hope he has good work ethic that will massively help him. He is a good fielder and a safe slip catcher too.
Haseebullah - (Tests) - Potential replacement of Rizwan
He is another very correct player who can play around the ground. His glove work will need some improvement but comes across as our best bet in test cricket after Rizwan.
Mohammad Haris - (ODI/T20s) - Potential replacement of Rizwan
Nothing needs to be said on Haris as he has showcased his talent in recent T20 WC. The only suggestion to him would be to learn how to apply yourself whilst batting and ensure you don't throw your wicket when you are in good position. Another suggestion would be to concentrate on his middle overs game as he comes across as someone who can sneak 1s and 2s without getting bogged down. If he can master this he would have a very good career.
Hassan Khan - (ODI/T20s) - Potential replacement of Nawaz/Imad
I rate Hassan Khan very highly. He is a very good fielder, good batsman and very good bowler. His ceiling is higher than many others and Pietersen has said something similar when he played alongside him in Quetta Gladiators. Definitely would be an impact player and needs to be backed.
Qasim Akram - (Test/ODI/T20s) - Potentially in mould of Hafeez, Malik and can replace Iftikhar
The captain of our u19 setup is one of the most improved cricketers I have seen since u19 days. His batting has grown leaps and bounds and is a very capable fielder as well. Another one that comes across as a smart cricketer and have a good career ahead of him.
Mubasir Khan (Test/ODIs) - Potential replacement of Nawaz
What a year Mubasir has had this season. He is arguably on top of both batting and bowling lists of every domestic tournament. He will have his opportunity soon and the position he will be asked to bat can be tricky but he comes across as someone who is mentally strong so here hoping and wishing best for him.
Zeeshan Zameer (Tests/ODI) - Potential replacement of Naseem
Tall fast bowler who hits the deck hard. He has the ingredients and if he can amp that pace up to 145 mark then he can be very lethal in SENA conditions. Certainly someone to take along on SENA tours
Aimal Khan (ODI/T20s) - Potential replacement of Haris Rauf
Skiddy and round arm bowler who likes to bowl full and yorker length. He has natural swing away from right handers and can be a decent death bowler or in conditions where there might be some reverse swing. Again someone to work upon.
This is not an exhaustive list and I have not included young players who have already made a name for themselves in international cricket like Naseem or Haider Ali.
The point is we have some exciting youngsters coming along and I wish all the best to them and hope then can take Pakistan cricket forward together with their careers.
