PCB sets maximum age of 25 for player to debut in the Regional inter district senior tournament

Haha

This reminds me of the thread that I made the other day.

Glad PCB is taking note.

Expect a lot of players to have date of birth of 2nd Sept 1993 all of a sudden :afridi

this is a bad decision really.

If you are above the age of 25 you cant play cricket.

I think, it's for debut, not for being in the squad or playing XI. Players can play till late 30s if he is performing.

Not sure if it's a good or bad idea, because lots of players mature with age and Senior District level is like 3rd or 4th tier, most of the players are semi amateur or just pass timers (that should be, but I have seen PAK national players playing Ramadan League ....), therefore restricting debut by age might not be good idea for many professionals (in other field) who wants to keep themselves in cricket after completing education or job security.

I think, what's needed is STRICT age qualification for U13, U16 & U19 level, from where every year at most 100 cricketers can reach the highest (Domestic FC/List A) Level, and may be 10 to the national level.
At lower level (District/Club/Corporate) it hardly matters - hardly any of these players, is ever going to represent PAK, after debuting at 3rd/4th tier at that age.

The best move so far. This totally crush senior culture which very nearly dead. I thought I would never witness this day.

This means that anyone who is over the age of 25 and has not debuted yet has no cricketing future ahead of them...Great Move

This is a wrong move,in my opinion.Basically against the concept of fair play.Anyone who is putting in the hard yards and performing well should get a chance to show their potential.I mean,26 year olds aren't that much older.

So if you are 26 years old and the best batsman or bowler in the country you can't get a place in the team because you're not 25?

Absolutely terrible.

Ridiculous. If you have a great structure from school level then it makes sense to implement such a rule but a lot of Pakistani greats have just randomly been found off the streets without having any background in cricket. This will immensely effect in finding undiscovered great talents of our country. Very disappointed.

Good, if you are over 25 and have not made your regional team then what are the odds that you will play international cricket?

In a fair system, you would be right.

But, in a system where nepotism is rife, every player needs every chance he can get to make it to the top

Would this exclude the next Misbah?

Stupid decision. Specially in a country like Pakistan where talent is hidden in remote areas and is hard to recruit/spot at any stage - never mind when they are under 25. On top that there's already a big question mark over the age of our players which makes this whole policy absurd.

If you are good enough you should play regardless of age. Simple.

While we're on the topic of the Regional Inter-District competition....

LCCA Ground pitch dug up by unidentified men in Lahore

LAHORE: The match between East Zone White and Blues was delayed by five hours after unidentified men ruined the pitch of the Lahore City Cricket Assocation (LCCA) Ground here on Tuesday. The teams were set to play each other as part of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Lahore Region Centre Inter-District Tournament but because of the unplayable condition of the pitch, the match was delayed. An inquiry is currently under way to determine who was responsible for the destruction of the pitch.

This is a horrible decision. Why would you want to exclude any part of your player pool? Some late bloomers being unfairly excluded and that's all. Any aged deserving player should be allowed to play.

Lol, some absolutely hilarious comments on this thread!

This is a disaster lawsuit waiting to happen in any country (with half a brain), but since it's in Pakistan I guess its ok to have rules which practically condemn and restrict fair play.

Idiots!

well it probably means more and more kids want to become cricketers will stop pursuing education and will probably quit school around matriculation. And there will probably not be another educated cricketer in Pak. Education is a key aspect in every one's life as it shapes up their mind and thinking.
