KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will now be picking up the tabs of its Governing Board (GB) members when it comes to business class air tickets and five-star hotel stays during foreign tours.

The proposal was one of three discussed at a Board of Governance (BOG) meeting in Lahore on Tuesday. It was accepted after three members namely Shakeel Sheikh, Major (retd) Naeem Akhtar Gilani and Gul Zada heavily lobbied for the proposal to be accepted.

According to sources, Sheikh was extremely vocal about the issue, saying BOG members often missed out on foreign tours while PCB officials from various other departments continued to enjoy such benefits.

Sheikh was reportedly opposed by Mansoor Khan and Ejaz Farooqi, both of whom refused to visit foreign countries at the expense of the board. However, after the approval, members of the BOG, along with their spouses, will now receive business class air tickets and stays in five star hotels, with a daily allowance included as well.

On the other hand, the BOG refused another proposal on monthly allowances for its members. Sources confirmed to the Daily Express that the proposal for monthly allowances was shelved after opposition from member Mansoor Khan.

Another proposal regarding a special fund to send members of the National Assembly on foreign tours was left to be decided in the next meeting.

Something so wrong here.

so true. Something so odd when such matters are discussed in a BoG meeting.

In other boards, these are enshrined in policies. In Pakistan policies are meant to be renegotiated.

And these guys went to the ICC requesting for special assistance and for a fund to be set up for them?

And here comes the clarification....

Lahore November 11, 2016: A spokesman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has clarified matters under discussion in the last meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) on 8th November regarding any facilitation to members for travelling abroad to watch matches.

The PCB spokesman explained that under the rules only chairmen of BoG committees were entitled to certain travel and lodging facilities to enable them to carry out their work efficiently. The matter of enabling BoG members (who give their time and effort to PCB on an honorary basis without any salary) to watch maximum of one match per year outside Pakistan was debated and ExCo was asked to submit appropriate proposal in this regard at the next BoG meeting.

Regarding some confusion about some PSL matters, the spokesman clarified that the proposed new Company would be incorporated as a 100 per cent owned PCB subsidiary with a majority of PCB directors from the PCB's BoG within a couple of months and it would start functioning fully after the 2nd edition of PSL in Feb-March 2017.

Proposal for BoG members’ visits abroad unlikely to be approved

LAHORE: Though a majority of the members of Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Board of Governors are interested to get approved a proposal according to which they should also be entitled to visit abroad to witness Pakistan’s matches, the proposal is unlikely to be approved when it is presented for a final discussion at the next BoG meeting, to be held in Karachi next month.

Sources told Dawn that a majority of the members favoured the proposal tabled during the Nov 8 BoG meeting, held in Lahore.

A couple of them, however, showed no interest in the proposal and were of the opinion that while they were already allowed to visit abroad whenever any official assignment was given to them, the proposal of going outside of Pakistan just to watch national team’s matches did not carry any weight or logic.

According to sources, the proposal is unlikely to get the approval when it is tabled at the next meeting in Karachi, for which the dates are yet to be announced.

Interestingly, while none of the BoG members are seen at the cricket grounds to witness the domestic matches in Pakistan, a majority of them are quite excited about the proposal regarding tours abroad. These members are also part of different BoG committees which have been formed to work for the betterment of Pakistan cricket, but apart from a couple of these bodies, the rest of them hardly ever hold any meeting.

APP adds: A PCB spokesman clarified on Friday that under the rules, only chairmen of the BoG committees were entitled to certain travel and lodging facilities which will enable them to carry out their work efficiently.

The matter of enabling BoG members, who give their time and effort to the PCB on an honorary basis, to watch a maximum of one match per year outside Pakistan was debated and the executive committee was asked to submit an appropriate proposal in this regard at the next BoG meeting.

So when wives + children do travel, are their travel and hotel expenses paid by the cricketers themselves?
