YouTube service was disrupted in parts of Pakistan on Tuesday evening ahead of PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s address at a party power show in Peshawar, according to NetBlocks — an organisation that tracks internet outages.

Prior to NetBlocks’ confirmation, a number of social media users had reported disruption in the website’s service.

The PTI and party leaders blamed the government for the development, adding that the ban would not be able to stop the party or Imran.

“So YouTube blocked again suddenly by this fascist imported govt and its handlers. Really sick mindsets,” tweeted former human rights minister Shireen Mazari.

“Imran Khan’s speech will be heard one way or another you petty frightened political pygmies. Never thought state would use cyber warfare against its own people! Shameful.”

You know they are going to ban social media and YouTube sooner or later. Who would have thought that it would be this bad. Isn't this an unannounced Martial Law

switch to dailymotion etc ......

They will ban that too. The neutrals are getting desperate, Kaptaan has thrown down the gauntlet as to the new COAS appointment and they dont know what to do. Off course they will ban IK but with 80% of the people with him, good luck next COAS. Millitary coups like in Egypt aren't easy any more in a country with an educated urban population like PK with a popular politician like IK

PTI criticism of army is ‘constructive’, claims Imran in Peshawar rally

Former prime minister Imran Khan, during his speech at a PTI rally in Peshawar on Tuesday, explained that his criticism of the army was “constructive and for its own improvement” as opposed to the comments made in the past by incumbent government leaders — clips of which were shown on the big screen in front of PTI supporters as he tried making his point.

“Those from the PML-N should get this straight that we are the people who would strengthen this country’s institutions,” he said. “And even if we do criticise our army, it is for their betterment. What we do is constructive criticism.”

Imran was addressing a rally near Peshawar’s Ring Road where he claimed that the government was trying to create misunderstandings between the Pakistan Army and the country’s “largest party”.

“This gang of robbers have realised that they can’t defeat us. The three stooges know that they can’t win by playing the match […] So, now they are trying to disqualify me. They have declared me to be a terrorist in the court.”

But, Imran said that people were now “politically aware”.

“Today, I want to tell you that until and unless our institutions are not strong, the country can not succeed,” the PTI chief said. “The nation has realised that they [the PDM] are trying to pit the PTI against the institutions.

“So, their efforts to push PTI against the wall […] listen to me […] the more you try to push PTI against the wall, the more I will fight you,” he warned.

Imran went on to say that the incumbent government had been imposed on the nation, adding that he won’t accept it no matter what.

Scores of PTI supporters, decked in red and green scarves and bands, gathered at the venue on Tuesday evening. The crowd chanted slogans against the incumbent government and leaders of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

However, immediately after Imran’s arrival, a number of people, including PTI leaders, tweeted that YouTube had been blocked in the country.

‘Enough is enough’
Ahead of the rally, Imran, in a tweet, declared “enough is enough” as he hit out at those “deliberately distorting” his remarks about the future army chief’s appointment, as the PML-N termed him an “enemy of the state”.

Imran’s comments about the appointment triggered fierce criticism from the coalition government as well as a tersely worded statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The ex-premier had alleged the PPP and PML-N were opposing fresh elections because they wanted to “appoint an army chief of their choice” in November purportedly to save their skin in corruption cases.

Imran, who had stayed mum on the matter since Sunday, said on Tuesday that he was following the “intense propaganda” against him that had been launched by the “PDM (Pakistan Democratic Movement) cabal of crooks”.

“This stems from [them] being petrified of [the] PTI’s soaring popularity. Today, in [the] Peshawar jalsa, I will give proper reply to all those who have deliberately been distorting my words to malign me. Enough is enough,” he said.

The tweet triggered an #EnoughIsEnough hashtag, which was one of the top political trends on Pakistani Twitter, racking up more than 84,000 retweets at the time of this report.

While PTI leaders had jumped to Imran’s defence, President Arif Alvi had all but distanced himself from the situation. In an informal chat with journalists in Peshawar, he maintained that the former premier should himself clarify his remarks.

PML-N calls Imran ‘enemy of the state’
Meanwhile, PML-N said the “enemy of the state has come out all guns blazing against the state institutions”.

It added in a tweet that from the ECP, to the judiciary, to the police and armed forces, Khan is “having a go at anyone who’s unwilling to bow down to his fascism”.

It then followed it up by saying it’s “#ImranVsPakistan now and we stand with Pakistan”.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah also strongly criticised Imran, alleging that he was insulting the Constitution, the dignity of the Pakistan Army and the honour of martyrs.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz said that Imran’s stance about Pakistan was conditional, calling on the “curse” to be dealt with.

In a tweet on Tuesday, she said: “Imran’s stance about Pakistan is conditional. If [the] army remains neutral, I will drag it through the mud, if [the] courts do not legalise my crimes, I will blacken their faces, if the Election Commission of Pakistan exposes the theft of foreign funding, I will attack their integrity. The curse has to be dealt with,” she said.

A day earlier, Maryam had called for an end to treating Imran like a political leader, claiming that the country would go downhill if he was not treated like a “double-dealer”.

They are getting desperate.. if they kill him chances are we could face a civil war..if they let him fight an election he will win with a landslide..if they delay the election their own popularity nosedives..if they disqualify him his party will still win and he will be reinstated...they cannot win this..

The only thing they can do is delay the election then run to London leaving economic destruction behind..then shout naehal at IK when he tries to clean up their mess...

YouTube service disrupted in Pakistan, outage tracker confirms

YouTube service was disrupted in parts of Pakistan on Tuesday evening ahead of PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s address at a party power show in Peshawar, according to NetBlocks — an organisation that tracks internet outages.

NetBlocks noted that the disruption came despite the Islamabad High Court lifting the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority’s ban on Imran’s speeches.

“NetBlocks recommends against the use of network disruptions and social media restrictions to limit political speech, given their disproportionate impact to fundamental rights including freedom of expression and freedom assembly,” the organisation said.

Prior to NetBlocks’ confirmation, a number of social media users had reported disruption in the website’s service.

The PTI and party leaders blamed the government for the development, adding that the ban would not be able to stop the party or Imran.

PTI Vice President Fawad Chaudhry said Pakistan was now “officially turned into a banana republic”.

Shameful.”

“Pakistan Government has once again blocked YouTube just to stop people from watching Peshawar jalsa speech of the most popular Pakistani political leader Imran Khan,” alleged party focal person Azhar Mashwani.

Digital rights advocate Usama Khilji said “enough is enough”, adding that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority couldn’t “block YouTube for all of Pakistan each time Imran Khan is addressing a rally”.

“This is unconstitutional censorship which has no basis under law. Stop making a joke of the Constitution and treating the country like a video game,” he tweeted.

In a follow-up tweet, he said: “Welcome to digital martial law in Pakistan, where YouTube gets blocked each time a person that the establishment doesn’t like is speaking and their speech is live-streamed.”

He said this was “unacceptable paternalistic censorship” that undermined constitutional rights.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secretary general Farhatullah Babar, reacting to a tweet regarding the disruption, shared his reservations over such moves, saying: “A man may be imprisoned but not an idea.”

A similar incident occurred on August 21 on the night of Imran’s address to a party rally in Rawalpindi’s Liaquat Bagh. NetBlocks had confirmed that disruption as well.

“Real-time network data show the disruption in effect on some but not all mobile and fixed-line internet providers in Pakistan during the live-streamed speech. Access was restored after the speech concluded. The study is taken from a sample size of 100 measurements from 14 vantage points across Pakistan,” NetBlocks had said in a report.

PPP are in govt but acting like the opposition with the silly statement by Babar. The criminal fascist regime resorts to even more desperate measures as it realises that its lost the people.

These are seriously worrying signs. I know there are many people on this forum that are against Imran Khan and they have every right to be but how can these actions be defended.

Yea but all the major criticism I generally hear is Imran wants to be a fascist dictator and I am curious how such things by PDM/Neutrals can be defended or tolerated.

It's the army. They have decided to step in.

It is but who are their collaborators? This is fascist and the irony is that under Mushy it was never this bad. This is a joint enterprise and the stain on the mafia families can never be erased.
