Match 23 of the Pakistan Super League 2026 sees Peshawar Zalmi square off against Quetta Gladiators at the National Stadium, Karachi, on Wednesday, April 15.

Babar Azam’s Zalmi have been unstoppable so far, sitting comfortably atop the points table with five wins from six outings and one no-result. Remarkably, they remain the only unbeaten side this season.

Quetta, on the other hand, have endured an inconsistent run. With two victories and three defeats from five matches, they occupy fifth place, just outside the playoff spots. However, they enter this contest buoyed by a commanding 61-run triumph over Rawalpindi.

Babar needs to step up or drop himself. The 80 was a good innings but last match 40(40) was pathetic and his comments post match were silly too where he claimed it was the requirement of the role. He needs to be honest with himself if he wants to reattain the heights of 2021-2022 when he was the best all format batsman.

He's matching Rizwan's strike rate

He's matching Rizwan's strike rate
That's true. First thing I thought when I saw his innings last time was that he is matching current Rizwan's SR and current Farhan's SR when he plays non minnows. Getting back to the match my only interests are Hassan Nawaz doing well and Babar finding some form.

JP Duminy with a preview of this clash:

"We're pretty much halfway in HBL PSL 2026. Season 11 has been an absolute cracker. The Zalmi is dominant! They haven't lost a game this season yet. They've just dominated again coming off of a convincing victory but they go against the Gladiators in match 23 here at the National Bank stadium. Two teams that have had very different seasons thus far. The Zalmi is dominant! Gladiators very, very indifferent at this point in time. They have won against the Rawalpindi recently so they'll come into this encounter with a little bit of confidence. Some question marks pretty much around their batting and the consistency of Saud Shakeel, they've got some work to do. Good to see Rilee Rossouw back in the runs. In terms of that middle order, it was a concern for a period of time. But let's look at the Zalmi. They've got a leading run scorer in Kusal Mendis, leading wicket-taker Sufyan Muqeem. They are a team to reckon with. And it is going to be an exciting clash.”

They played Ahsan Ali instead of Bevon Jacobs?

And only three overseas?
Lmao yea. And Shamyl will be batting down the order.

They probably think Ahsan is the next coming of Bairstow. Not to mention in the field he'll be liability too. Cause he's not agile enough given his fitness

Makes zero sense. Shamyl should have opened the batting with Saud. Probably didn't want to stack the top 3 with left-handers but you shouldn't be that focused on matchups at the expense of team balance and playing guys outside their roles.

Hassan Nawaz has been considerably slower this season but at the same time he has been given almost zero support by any of the other Quetta batters. He's always coming in during crisis situations and has to score while putting a price on his wicket.

The biggest problem is the lack of stability in the opening combination. Shamyl and Saud were doing fairly okay at the start of the season so I still don't understand why they felt the need to change that

Whats the point of all this accumalation if when its time to go, you spoon one right up in the air?

crap innings by Nawaz. Going nowhere with this $hit approach

Peshawars good form looks like continuing bowlers have been good so far for them Mendis top scorer Babar anchoring as that's his limit in T20.

Quetta let Mendis and others go this season should have kept the team together from last season and added another younger player like Maaz...... Will struggle to qualify now.

Big mistake letting Mendis go. They had Chapman too, who is doing pretty well for Islamabad

At the moment, Rawalpindiz and Karachi look like the worst teams with Hyderabad just above.

I don't think a couple of wins should distract from the fact that Hyderabad is not a good team. Any team that has Marnus Labuschagne as captain aswell as opening the batting cannot be taken seriously. Maaz is the only good thing about that team.

Quetta and Lahore look like they are in a similar place - average teams who are a notch below Peshawar, Multan and Islamabad. I think out of the two of them Lahore will probably make it through because their players enjoy/do well at GSL.

Peshawar have been the best team so far but the loss of Nahid Rana for them is pretty big and will affect their team balance. Don't think that Ali Raza and this Basit guy are the answer. Still not sure why Khurram Shahzad has not played a single game.

Peshawar have bowled best so far but can that continue spinners have been very good they can't let it slip as things can change in T20.

It’s like asking me to rate Netanyahu’s leadership in Israel

I’m not even going to entertain this question. This fraud no matter what should be nowhere near T20s!
He won the game and had the highest score and Strike rate just FYI.

Fans get deluded by Babar's performances year after year. Yes we know he can bat well in the PSL on Pakistani pitches against lower quality bowlers. Why do we forget the other 11 months of the calendar where he consistently underperforms. We have seen enough evidence that he is not international quality in this format and we should stop falling for the same mistake every single year. Good for him in the PSL but enough is enough!
