A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane clipped an Air France plane while taxiing to its gate at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport on Tuesday evening.

PIA airhostess allegedly caught shoplifting in Canada

The PIA plane had landed in Toronto from Lahore when it hit the wing tip of an Air France plane that was parked at a gate in Terminal 3 of the airport at 6:00pm, Greater Toronto Airports Authority spokesperson Natalie Moncur said.

Although no one was injured and there was no major damage to the aircraft, passengers had to wait inside the plane for a long time before they were allowed to disembark.

Two and a half hours after the collision, at 9:30pm, Zahid Malik, whose daughter was on the plane from Lahore, told Canadian CityNews he had no idea how much longer he would have to wait for her.

“I keep calling my daughter,” he said. “She said, ‘We’ll be out in 10 minutes, 20 minutes, half an hour.’ He added, “Every time I speak to her I get different answers. The last time I spoke to her, she said nobody knows where we stand. I’m just really frustrated to be honest with you.”

Another family member of one of the passengers said he had been waiting for more than three hours for his brother, whom he would be driving to Milton. “The immediate concern is at least the people and kids, they should be let out with the luggage,” he said. The Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident.

PIA airhostess sues management over sexual harassment

On Monday, a PIA airhostess was charged with shoplifting in Toronto. According to media reports, Maria Akhund landed in Toronto from Lahore via PIA flight PK797. Akhund was caught stealing in CCTV footage of the department store.

The department store management handed over the footage to police who interrogated the airhostess and the flight captain.

Lag raha hai pilot ki jaga rickshaw driver laga liyay hain

Not justifying the PIA pilot's actions but such incidents are becoming very common in large and overcrowded hub airports.

During rush hour, a large number of big planes with large wingspans are often seen jostling for space. Only a matter of time before the wing of one clips that of the other.

Collisions between service vehicles and aircraft are becoming common too, for the same reason.

North American hubs seem to have more such incidents happening than European and Asian ones.

Air France has a history of being involved in collisions with other aircraft.

Just a few years ago at the same airport:
