Hear me out before you think that a 2-0 to RSA is a formality. it's an if & a big if on that but I feel that if they hold on to their chances, Pak will surprise the hosts massively.

My reasoning

1. Historically, RSA choke under pressure of ICC tournaments, & while this is a bilateral series, the issue is that this has a pot at the end of the rainbow which is a prize to play in the ICC WTC final. This is technically a semi-final of sorts and that's why there's a layer of added pressure.

2. The bowling that Pak is taking to RSA is not the best but has a couple of bowlers that may cause issues. Abbas is someone who may test techniques & Khurram can potentially do damage. I do believe that we lack a tall bowler but in Abbas & Khurram we have two people who surely can cause problems. If Jamal & Nasim/Hamza are able to do what they did in Aus, we are in for a cracker. We lost 3-0 in Aus but our bowling for the most part was solid. It was just the inability to take catches that ruined strong positions.

3. RSA are also missing some key bowlers and if they really make green mambas, things will become interesting. A very green/difficult pitch often levels the odds at times as skill gap between bowlers is lowered.

I could be totally wrong but had to put this out here. If nothing, it'll be good for lols later on

In my opinion Pakistan should go with the below line up.
Saim
Shan
Babar
Kamran
Saud
Salman
Rizwan
Aamir
Khurram
Naseem
Mir Hamza

A very strong eleven but I want to see Abbas play. He was not fully fit last time we were there & he's been a bit hidden from the scene so he has the full surprise element.

Abd has been a total disappointment, Shan should open but I doubt he'll want to do that. I hope he does as I really don't like Abd the fielder, two guaranteed drops a match on avg.

I wouldn't mind Abbas either, but would prefer mir Hamza for the left arm variety. Abdullah is already mentally shot against Jansen, there isn't any hope he will fare any better against the red ball with perhaps more Spicer pitches. It it imperative Shan opens otherwise Babar will miss out. Who even with his current struggles is better than Abdullah.

Lol...Haris Rauf surprised them all with his blinderView attachment 148810

The title was changed by the mods I presume. I gave it another title which was something like "I've a gut feeling that if Pak fields well, they can surprise RSA in the test series"

My whole point is that if we don't do the "drop 5 catches an innings specially when the match is in the balance" on SENA tours, we can nick this series as the pressure is on them & they are not that good dealing with ICC tournament pressure.

Pakistan's fielding isn't something you can predict or rely on. It depends completely on their confidence. If South Africa puts pressure on them it can come apart very quickly.

@The Bald Eagle @BouncerGuy

Please change the title of this thread back to what it was originally or something like pakistan fielding will determine their victory etc etc.

The title is misleading and the OP clearly didn't state this.

Pakistan's fielding has been a joke and op suggested that if Pakistan field well, They can beat sa.

The title makes it seem as if he thinks pakistan is a world class fielding team.

Butter fingers we have a couple of Xmas gifts 🎁 are a must specially from slip cordon :ba :shan

Pakistan can definitely win.

Anyway, SA just need 1 win to qualify for WTC final.

Pakistan just need their bowling attack to be competent.

It's usually a very average attack which is why they keep losing Test matches

Saim ayub made a superb effort to grab a catch on his own bowling but couldnt hold the ball.

Not just Pakistan but proteas also haven't had a good time in the field.

Fielding has not been that good by saffers in this tour by Pakistan so far. Dropped catch of saim in the 1st test. It was more tough one actually but a drop is a drop.
